CINCINNATI — First came "hero pay." Then a "thank you" bonus.
Now, Kroger employees will have to be satisfied with gradual increases in wages and benefits.
CEO Rodney McMullen told the WCPO I-Team Thursday that Kroger will not re-instate the popular hazard-pay benefits it announced in March and continued into June.
This despite continued calls by union officials to bring back the $2-per-hour wage boost that Kroger and other grocery chains had been paying their essential workers.

Kroger held its annual meeting Thursday, an event in which McMullen usually fields questions from local reporters. This year, McMullen agreed to talk by phone, telling the I-Team that the company will see some permanent changes from the global pandemic that caused food shortages, surging revenue, binge buying and changes in consumer spending habits. Kroger's local employment increased 33% to 20,000 since the pandemic began, while the company hired 100,000 people nationwide. McMullen expects Kroger’s total employment — which peaked at 560,000 — to remain above 500,000 going forward. He also expects digital sales to remain at higher levels than the company achieved prior to COVID-19.

And he believes the company will benefit from a permanent shift toward eating at home.

Right now to me this stock is a must have.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Blackstone, Bain Capital and Taisho Pharmaceutical are among the final bidders for Takeda Pharmaceutical’s (4502.T) consumer drug business in Japan, a deal that could be worth up to 400 billion yen ($3.7 billion), three people familiar with the deal said.

Japan’s Taisho Pharmaceutical Holdings Co Ltd (4581.T) is the front runner for the deal, all three people said. CVC Capital Partners is also among the final bidders, they said.

The sale of Takeda Consumer Healthcare Co, known for its Alinamin line of energy drinks, is part of Takeda’s efforts to shed $10 billion in non-core assets to reduce debt following its $59 billion purchase of Shire Plc.

That deal amount might fall to around 340 billion yen because Blackstone Group (BX.N) and the private equity firms consider the price too high, said two of those people. Taisho could go as high as 400 billion yen, they said.

The JEDI contract will not be awarded until at least August.

Updated legal filings, the Defense Department said it will not be in a position to award its Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure cloud contract to either Microsoft or Amazon Web Services until at least August 17.

The June 16 filing comes more than six months after AWS first challenged the Pentagon’s October award of the $10 billion contract to Microsoft in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, which resulted in the Pentagon pulling the contract to take corrective action on identified flaws.

According to the filing, both companies submitted revised JEDI proposals in May, but they’ll have to revise and submit bids once more because the Pentagon intends to issue another amendment to the JEDI solicitation by June 22.

“DoD continues to evaluate the offerors’ revised proposals, and more time is required to complete this process,” attorneys for the Defense Department said in the filing. “DoD now anticipates that another solicitation amendment will be necessary, and additional limited proposal revisions will be permitted.”

The filing indicates the Defense Department expects to receive new proposals by July 6 and intends to evaluate revised proposals by August 17. However, “it is possible that some additional time may be necessary,” attorneys for the Defense Department said.

JEDI is considered one of the Pentagon’s most high-profile technology contracts in years and through it officials hope to link together worldwide military systems at all classification levels from various military departments into a single, unified architecture. DoD officials have also repeatedly said that an enterprise cloud is essential to advance the department’s artificial intelligence projects. However, the contract has been protested four times and is approximately two years behind schedule.

The bid protest filed by AWS remains on hold following the judge’s order for the Defense Department to take corrective action on JEDI. AWS’ protest alleged the Defense Department made material errors evaluating the companies’ bids and also alleged President Trump improperly influenced Pentagon’s decision-making. Thus far, the judge has not addressed allegations of improper political influence.

I am hoping it goes to MSFT , its a better fit for me to trade on , on the other hand getting the JEDI contract would justify breaking up amazon, both work for me.

Kroger gets approval for home Covid-19 test kit
Kroger Co. has received Food and Drug Administration emergency use authorization for its Covid-19 home testing kit.

The Kroger Health Covid-19 Test Home Collection Kit will first be used starting this week by frontline workers at Cincinnati-based Kroger (NYSE: KR), the nation’s largest operator of traditional supermarkets. Those tests will be based on medical need.

Kroger Health, the company’s health care division, will quickly expand the coronavirus test kits’ availability to other companies and organizations in the coming weeks. It has a goal of processing up to 60,000 tests a week by the end of July.

Tests will initially be available only to people who are with contracted employers and organizations. Tests might become available directly to consumers in the future, a Kroger spokesperson said.

The testing kit will initially be available in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Tennessee, Utah and Virginia. It will add other states in the coming weeks. Kroger has 2,757 stores in 35 states across the country.

Kroger Health expects to have confirmed test results within 72 hours in most cases. It’s teaming with Covington-based Gravity Diagnostics, a full-service clinical laboratory, to process test results.

There’s no cost for the test for eligible patients who meet criteria for likely Covid-19 exposure or infection.

"There is a low probability of the test producing a false positive or false negative," a Kroger official said when asked about the test's accuracy.

Kroger officials say the test combines the safety and convenience of testing at home with the medical expertise of telehealth consultations. That should improve the quality of the collection process.

“Over the past few months, Kroger Health has been providing Americans with access to COVID-19 testing through community test sites across the country,” Colleen Lindholz, president of Kroger Health, said in a news release. “However, we’ve observed some individuals do not have access to transportation or live near these community testing locations. To help ease this burden and provide greater accessibility, we will be offering a home testing solution to our associates first followed by other companies and organizations.”

Patients go to a website to answer screening questions. If they qualify, a health care professional issues a prescription and the home testing kit is shipped to their home within 24 to 48 hours.
