Those big divvy telecom/utilities tend to selloff when rates rise which most people forecast will happen sooner than later, just something to think about if you are speculating and not planning too hold for too long.

Sold of Verizon at 50.25 for a nice 1.87 profit per share.. the market was up 208 today, and Verizon when down to 49.90 at close, I will buy back half my postion tomaorrow . ..... have a 90 day price target of 52.00 on Verizon .. my goal is to make enough money to upgrade to a newer Bentley...

The stock is flat but they spent 130 billion to buy the one of most valuable assets on the plant ... the us telecom market. I like they didn't blow the numbers away , Ica but more of a solid asset at a lower price . I have not missed a Verizon Dividend in 10 years when the stock was selling for 25$

I was thinking of buying some Disney stock but can only afford options. Do you mess with options or just stock?

I'm super bullish on Verizon .. love the it got down graded today. bought 6000 more shares today.. love it under 49 bucks , I still have a 52 dollar price taget in the next 60 days.
I have my eye on the whole net neutrality thing and how it is going to play out , but version is both a well run company and has the best technology.. every time I goto the Verizon store its packed ... 4% dividend. its a day traders dream , does not go o high , dos not goto low

After 32 rounds of bidding, the AWS-3 spectrum auction has generated a whopping $36.44 billion in aggregate provisional winning bids. That figure is almost double what the 700 MHz auction raised in 2008. As has been the case throughout the auction, the most attractive individual licenses have been paired 10x10 MHz blocks of spectrum known as the J-Block, in major markets. The J-Block license covering New York City and Long Island generated a bid of $2.21 billion in round 32, while the same spectrum block in the Los Angeles area received a bid of $1.86 billion.

what you need to know about spectrum is this... T-Mobile is heavily loaded with high-frequency spectrum in the 1900 MHZ and AWS-1 bands. High-frequency spectrum is widely viewed as less desirable than lower-frequency spectrum such as Verizon’s A-block holdings because lower-frequency spectrum has better propagation

Earlier this week we brought you word of a bold Sprint deal to steal you away from AT&T and Verizon, but now Re/code reports that the deal isn’t nearly as good as we thought it was when it was announced.

RELATED: Consumer Reports says Sprint is still America’s worst wireless carrier and it’s not even close

Sprint’s promotion lets AT&T and Verizon customers bring their bills into a Sprint store, where a representative will find a plan for them that cuts what they’re paying on voice, data and text messaging in half. However, Sprint also requires you to turn in your old device and get a new one by either paying for it completely up front or through one of Sprint’s monthly installment or leasing plans — and this means your net savings from switching to Sprint won’t be anywhere close to 50%.

“They are still probably getting a 20% sort of net discount,” CFO Joe Euteneuer admitted at a Merrill Lynch conference this past Tuesday.
Some other fine print that’s worth noting: If you turn in a device that’s not in “good working order” or isn’t “current,” Sprint can slap you with a $200 fee for not turning in your old phone. Also, customers taking advantage of this deal will not take priority during high traffic hours. In other words, if you’re using your phone during peak hours and there’s lots of network congestion, other Sprint customers will be given priority to faster data services over you.

Still, 20% savings isn’t nothing and Sprint still will pay off up to $350 in early termination fees if you switch. On the other hand, it would mean having to deal with Sprint’s network, which multiple tests have shown again and again is the slowest mobile data network among any major American operator.

Down about four and a half dollar, I have been aggressively day trading VZ and to diversify have been sprinkeling in some Consolidated Edison and Disney. I am holding about 4,000 shares that I expect ill be have t hold past h ex date to get my money back im in afortunat situation that I can hold onto a stock until the Div make up or my losses.

Verizon has been hammered due to the attempts of T-Mobile and Sprint to have a price war .. In my View the people who want that's kind product are already buying strait talk (Verizon ) or Cricket (att) Verizon sells more 4G phones and has the lowest Churn.. the 4h Q numbers of customers phone up grades has been posative.. but anaylists have set a .79 earning calls.. I love this number and think VZ will kill it by 3-5 cents.. The purches of 45% of VZ wireless is complete and so are the AWS3 . Internet usage is on the rise and Thanks in large part to its hugely successful wireless business, Verizon generates a lot of cash flow. The company produced $6.3 billion in free cash flow during the first six months of the year.

If interest rates rise this company will be a star

Rating Action: [h=1]Moody's downgrades Sprint's CFR to B1 with negative outlook[/h]

Global Credit Research - 17 Dec 2014
[h=4][/h]New York, December 17, 2014 -- Moody's Investors Service ("Moody's") downgraded several ratings of Sprint Corporation ("Sprint" or "the company") including the company's Corporate Family Rating ("CFR") to B1 from Ba3, the company's Probability of Default Rating ("PDR") to B1-PD from Ba3-PD, Sprint's senior unsecured rating to B2 from B1 and lowered the company's Speculative Grade Liquidity Rating to SGL-3 from SGL-1. Moody's also assigned a Ba1 rating to Sprint's existing $3.3 billion revolving credit facility. Today's rating action reflects our expectation that intense competitive challenges and Sprint's limited ability to respond effectively will lead to a sustained period of very weak earnings and cash flow. Consequently, leverage is likely to increase, which when coupled with negative pressure on cash flow from installment billing plans and its phone leasing option, is expected to lead to a steady deterioration in Sprint's liquidity position. Sprint's rating outlook is negative reflecting what we believe to be limited ability to reverse current trends in the foreseeable future.
Moody's has taken the following rating actions:
.Issuer: Sprint Corporation
..Corporate Family Rating -- B1, from Ba3
..Probability of Default Rating -- B1-PD, from Ba3-PD
..Speculative Grade Liquidity Rating -- SGL-3, from SGL-1
..Outlook -- Negative, from Stable
..Senior Unsecured Notes -- B2, LGD5 from B1, LGD5
.Issuer: Sprint Communications, Inc.
..Outlook -- Negative, from Stable
..Senior Unsecured Notes -- B2, LGD5 from B1, LGD5
..Junior Guaranteed Unsecured Notes -- affirmed at Ba2, LGD2 from LGD3
..Senior Unsecured Gtd. Bank Credit Facility -- Assigned Ba1, LGD2
.Issuer: Sprint Capital Corp.
..Outlook -- Negative, from Stable
..Senior Unsecured Notes -- B2, LGD5 from B1, LGD5
..Senior Unsecured MTN Program -- (P)B2 from (P)B1
.Issuer: Clearwire Communications LLC
..Outlook -- Negative, from Stable
..Senior Secured 1st Lien Notes -- Ba1, LGD1 from Baa3, LGD1
..Exchangeable Notes due 2040 -- Ba2, LGD2 from Ba1, LGD2

[h=1]Sprint could face $105 million fine over unauthorized customer billing [/h]Sprint can't catch a break. As if its financial woes weren't enough, the outfit was recently accused of letting consumers get billed for "tens of millions" of dollars in unauthorized charges for premium text messages between 2004 and 2013. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's official charges, according to The New York Times, are that Sprint's billing system allowed third-parties to "cram" unauthorized fees onto your monthly statement. That's not all: The Federal Communications Commission is getting in on the action too, with the NYT's sources claiming that Sprint will face $105 million in refunds and restitution as a result of those unauthorized bill additions

The Bull market of 2014 is over, 2015 will not be a good year overall, but i do not feel that interest rates will go up.. This is great news for verizon as they accumulated 130 billion in debt from the stock buy out and the spectrum auction i don't know. The trend of cutting the cord from cable will be huge this year. Vz will not be hitting my 90 day price target by a mile, but i still believe in this stock

2014 profit from for me personally from trading and dividends of VZ 11,000$
