Good idea!
Play a JoB 9/6 machine, only.
Make sure you have a Comps card.

The Simple Strategy
  1. Full house or better
  2. 4 to a royal flush
  3. Straight, three of a kind, or flush
  4. 4 to a straight flush
  5. Two pair
  6. High pair
  7. 3 to a royal flush
  8. 4 to a flush
  9. Low pair
  10. 4 to an outside straight
  11. 2 suited high cards
  12. 3 to a straight flush
  13. 2 unsuited high cards (if more than 2 pick then pick lowest 2)
  14. Suited 10/J, 10/Q, or 10/K
  15. One high card
  16. Discard everything
There are more advanced charts(Wizard of odds) has one but this is the basics. My Gal and I sit at the bar and play for hours.(Not a lot of 9/6 left at bars) Drinking, talking to people who drop by etc.
Have found it is the cheapest way to play for us.
I consider us "experts" but we still have a cheat sheet in the pocket that we use every once in a while.

I have lived in Las Vegas and I visit all the Casinos and can tell you exactly where to find the best video poker machines. Several here have already mentioned the Las Vegas Hilton. However one must remember that 9/6 Jacks ob does not constitute full pay. For locals the earned comps etc make the Hilton a nice place to play but visitors don't receive all the giveaways etc. Also most Casinos are well aware of the full pay machines and return 1/4 of the normal comp returns or points for play. Full pay machines are all over town if you know where they are but there are almost none on the main strip anymore. I know of only one Casino in town that not only has the 9/6 machines but they are also progressive pay schedules. I played there once recently where the .25 progressive was over $ 2500. That makes the games over 100 % payoff.
Full pay machines are located at every Stations Casinos, Sam's Town, The M, Palms, The Rampart, Cannery East and Cannery North and of course both Fiestas. There are several other smaller Casinos also like Barleys that offer fp in selected games.
