So one question I have to ask to anyone that has been to Vegas recently...

My last trip I just thought what I was seeing was an anomaly by a bunch of knuckleheads. But being that I saw this again this trip, it looks like it's a trend. When did young and very healthy adults (who aren't disabled) start renting out the motorized chairs and going through joyrides through the casinos? I can't say I found it even mildly amusing and really questioned why the casino allowed it.

I saw that too.. And we all know if healthy people are using these chairs , some will be reckless .. . be a good idea to update the requirements for use

This has been going on for about a year now. There has been quite a bit of local chatter or you can check the Vegas message boards. Probably will be a hotel ban at some point and they will be treated like service dogs in terms of requiring some sort of paperwork. Just so those who have not been here have the right perspective, we are not talking about obese people...most look like they are healthy and under 30.

It's all relative man. The Vegas heat doesn't bother me much. I'm in an area that has had most of the month of August at 100 or more with some pretty good humidity. Dry heat isn't nearly as bad as what I'm in. I'll walk down Las Vegas blvd some and it's fine for me (but most people aren't going to do that so it's not surprising this time of year to see it relatively mellow outside as far as foot traffic is concerned).

I'd love to say you get used to it but that's bullshit. People who live here just reverse their seasons.
While the rest of the country is freezing we're playing. And while the rest of the country is playing
we're hibernating.

June, July and August are hot and I mean hot like 110 and above every day type hot. If you have something
to do you do it before 7 AM. The rest of the year is great.

And there are no snow storms, hurricanes, tornadoes to concern yourself with. Just occasional earthquakes
and some flash flooding.

All in all I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

My Dad did exactly that when he lived in Sumerlin. He was out with his dog at 5 30am and back in by 7. Back then, I'd stay put in his house or in the casino when I visited. Then I got a taste of the heat here in Texas and I'm certainly better acclimated now (would need a parka if I went to visit anyone in SF). The temp here got in the 106-107 range earlier in the month (you can add 8-9 degrees to the "feels like" temp due to the humidity). I've gone out for walks in partial shade mid-day for about 30 minutes. I'm not out all day in this stuff but have much more of a tolerance for it than I used to.

Until over 105, it is so dry that it is really not an issue although, like stated, you definitely plan your day so you are not out a lot in the 11-5pm period. Average temps are in the 100-106 range (usually about 8-10 degrees below Phoenix for instance). This year has been consistently 10 degrees above average, no monsoon season and it hasn't been under 100 for about two months...all somewhat unusual. September and Fall will be welcome for both a break in the weather and for football season.

I spent a week in Dallas way back when and I couldn't get over the humidity.
When you walked outside it was like you got hit in the face with a shovel.
Worst I've ever encountered anywhere.

We stay down in Salado pretty often and head over to Gtown alot of times. We like that downtown square area. I picked up a Kermode hat from Mesquite Creek outfitters a month ago...cool little outdoors clothing spot + several beer taps.
Dallas is not that humid...relative to the Hill Country in summer.

Never been to Reno. But I don't think it's at all like Vegas heat wise.

2.FYIs...

I strolled over to the Bellagio and the Cosmopolitan yesterday. The Bellagio had no problems with the face shield. At the Cosmopolitan, the guard stopped me. I thought he was going to ask me to put on a face mask, but instead he wanted to know where I got my shield because he thought it was pretty cool. It appears to me now that Caesars is actually more of an outlier than the other casinos in Vegas.

I also think it's funny regarding the perception of the mask versus the shield. A dealer at Red Rock was asking me about it and thought she was more protected by wearing the mask. I told her that if someone directly coughed or sneezed in her face, that mask was doing nothing to protect her versus the barrier that I had over my face. She had a shocked look on her face and I can tell she was processing the information over the next few hands. I bet you she ran out to look at her computer as soon as she got a chance. Just another example of too much propaganda emphasizing the wrong thing. Sorry to say, but I care a lot more about myself then some stranger (and I like to breathe)

We may have and not known it. By chance, did you visit the Wynn? I got a call and email today from a host. I replied back to his email and asked about their Covid policies. Here was his reply....

"In regards to face coverings, clear shields and surgical face coverings are mandatory on premises"

I'm thinking that can't be true....you have to wear both? If so, they are the most stringent of all the casinos bar none.

I was at the Wynn on Friday.. Never saw anything with shields being required. Masks yes.
