Dave-I'm leaning now towards Hawthorne Suites, if you know anything about it. How far is Henderson from the strip and do you have any info about living in Henderson? How is crime, and real estate like?

Don’t know much about Hawthorne Suites other than it’s on the East side of Henderson. I’ve lived here for 15 years and have no regrets. From that area it’s 30 minutes give or take from the Strip.

I don’t know any stats on crime but Henderson is a like living in Vegas without the hustle and bustle. There are no ghetto areas that I know of.

I do know that it’s less expensive than having a Vegas zip code when it comes to car insurance, property taxes etc yet it’s close to the action.

Most of the housing is cookie cutter type homes, depending upon what you want it will cost you $150,000 for a nice 3 bedroom single story up to whatever you want to spend for whatever you want. 13 year ago I got a 4 bedroom 2 story loaded with upgrades for $205,000. You can probably get the same thing today. Lot of foreclosures on the market so you can get a lot of house on the cheap but you have to factor in the renovation costs.

Downtown Henderson is old and run down. I wouldn’t recommend it. Look at the Green Valley area.

Thanks Dave for all the information. After doing research on Henderson I found out that it is one of the safest and best city to retire.
