Well it's getting closer to May and there have been a few plans that might be changing so I figured I'd bump this thread and get some more help. The set plans so far are for me, the best man and one other guy to fly out Thursday May 22nd, drive up to Mesquite and play Wolf Creek. I'm very excited about this and it is exactly what I want to do. The rest of the guys are coming in Friday afternoon and this is when things get confusing. The Cosmo room we were going to book for 3 nights (the first night we are staying at the Venetian just 3 of us) total per person comes out to be like $350. A great plan to me but some of the guys are bitching about the price, granted they are the same people i'll watch bet that amount on a single hand of BJ. Anyways, they are bringing up other ideas that get it down to about $190/$200 each at Planet Hollywood. So I guess now I need to get some honest opinions about PH and if it is ok to stay at. They keep saying we aren't ever going to be in the room so why does it matter. They are right, the room doesn't matter to me but the location it offers does. At the Cosmo we have a great night club and day pool and can get blacked out, gamble go to the club then have a short ride up to the room...sounds simple to me but I guess the price is coming into play. Anyone have a great idea I'm not thinking of (I've thrown out we will probably get some room comps but I don't want them to count on that) HELPPPPP!!!!

the difference in female talent you will run into at the cosmo vs. PH is night and day...

i'm sure you guys will have fun regardless and the PH isnt a dump, but think about how much easier would it be to meet some ladies and hang with them in your room if you were at the cosmo and staying there vs. asking them to take a cab with you or walk to the PH....the cosmo rooms are nice and all have balconies too

If they bet what you say, tell them to suck it up and stay at Cosmo. Missed your guys ages, but I imagine you are in your 20's. I'd still say downtown, more bang for your buck down there. And the strip is just annoying with all the tourist

if you want to get a deal and are willing to take a little risk.....I would say just book hotwire and use betterbidding.com

if you read the forum and match the amenities with hotwire, you can essentially solve for the hotel you are getting and Aria and Cosmo are just about always on there...

http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?app=hotel_lists&tid=2982

BTW, i have never paid for a room at the cosmo since they send me mid-week offers for free rooms all the time....and while i am not small time, I am no whale either.....it might be tough to get a room comped while you are there, but they struggle to bring gamblers in, so if you play anything decent (i.e., play some high limit video poker for a bit, or throw $100 in a $10 slot machine), they will likely send you offers in the future for free rooms....on the tables it is hit or miss as sometimes I will play for a while and the next day my points haven't even changed.....their VP odds are pretty crappy except for some of the games in the high limit room FYI....actually all their odds are kind of crappy....basically have to play $25 per hand to avoid 6/5 suckerjack

whenever i go i give them a little action so i keep getting comps but do most of my serious gaming elsewhere...i am still amazed they keep asking me back given the retail cost of the rooms vs. the amount I play there

DNoonan has solid advice. But in the end, don't play for a comp. It will end up costing you a shit ton in the long run. Now, if you are playing a decent VP game, or good blackjack game, play away, but again, don't pay for a comp. If you are sole reason is to play to get comped, don't do it. Just pay for it, it will be a helluva a lot cheaper in the long run. Vegas don't comp like it use to, unless you know how to run the system, and few really know the "system" that can be ran.

Take a few K and have some fun, if the comps come they come, but don't sweat it
