Theres a teeny problem with ignoring the UN.

Doing that means that everyone else can do exactly the same thing.

As long as you're happy with that. Fine.
Everyone can ignore the UN whenever they want to, especially on the bigger issues.

But I would reckon that most people in the world would not be too happy about that.
