USA should have won the game 1-0......then what would you have said...Howard is a beast and we definitely missed Altidore.....

The U.S. was clearly not the best team yesterday and in no way deserved to win anything. And, Altidore isn't as good as people think he is. Going into the Nigeria friendly, he had not scored in what 6 months?

There's a lot of negativity in this thread that I'm not sure is warrented. We're just getting our feet wet in this sport, moved on in the toughest group in the tourney, and USA was right there inches from the win 93 minutes in. Of course we have a long way to go from being a contender, but these good showings should go a long way to getting some young talent into the game.

We are not as technically sound as European teams. Our touches are hard and not controlled properly. Our passes are often off target resulting in turnovers. We have heart, make not mistake but are not as sound as these teams. We don't have the vision to see the play before it happens.

what we need to do is support soccer all the time, not every 4 yrs ect here.it great games each week from across the pond ect.not the nfl that changes the rules each yr and it goes from start to finish not 10, 000 breaks like the nfl.in whole it a better sport imo

I know almost nothing about soccer and I don't even really care about time of possession.

And to be honest, I didn't mind the gameplan. But when you are getting outshot something like 7-1 or 8-1 (which is what it was before the last 15 min OT period) then you are not going to win very many games.

I think it was bad coaching because he waited to be down 0-2 to change up the gameplan. I think shortening up the game isn't a bad idea but kind of like how Belgium sit back the last 15 min, USA did that the first 105 minutes. I don't care how good our goalie is, if we are going to give them that many more shots we are going to lose.

Let's be honest, Tim Howard is an absolute beast with a historically great performance, but we were lucky he blocked as many as he did....they could've easily had another 4+ goals.

Makes sense because Howard is the only player on our team that plays for a Champion's League team. We basically have a bunch of D-League players going up against the dream team. We need some more young talent in European leagues playing with and against the best of the best day in and day out, making some real money. Kids want to be in the major leagues for $, and you don't make any in MLS. We need to televise the European leagues more, which is happening, and get our players over there.

to be fair, up until 0-2 the gameplan was working there was no reason to change it up. When youre the inferior squad and youre in the game youre doing things right, outshot or not. If they opened it up earlier they lose earlier, simple as that.

It wouldn't have mattered... it would have been rule offsides...the linesman had the flag up... even though he was wrong!!
