I am not a soccer expert-but I have watched more in the past year than all my others combined. Have they always been this poor?? I know they don't win much--but at the 20' mark I am so disgusted I can't watch.
They are lazy and slow. There is no energy and I can't stand Howard.
US takes a Corner and Beasley gives UP and Brasil goes coast to coast.
Are these the best guys we can field??

its hard to play against a dominating team like brazil, usa isnt a good team, but against brazil they look even worse.

We need our best athletes on the pitch (i.e. Randy Moss, AI, Heinz Ward, athletes like that). If we did, than we would be the #1 team in the world.

not how it works. this sport has been around for a long time. countries like brazil, italy, spain just know what they're doing on the field. only recently has the US seriously focused on soccer and were still struggling against the top guys. although we can now compete with mediocre teams and we can slaughter the minnows. and btw those guys you listed wouldn't look like much on the field with brazil...

They just know they can't compete with world-class soccer.

The US might be able to beat Honduras, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago. But it's a whole diff. match when you're playing forces like Brazil, Italy, Spain, etc.

They have no chance. Most of them should be thinking about dropping their soccer careers to play baseball ^^:)

they were close in 02' and were getting better.. right now they are young and dont have as good a core as the 02' team. Il bet you they are legit in a year or two...

These last 2 games they got pretty ridiculous red cards early in both games, they outplayed Italy when the numbers were even. Brazil and Italy eventually earned both wins no doubt , but lets not get carreid away over acouple of games.

The only reason most of Americans dont like soccer is because Americans are typically FRONTRUNNERS, its just the way it is. If the US won a world cup half the country would have na'tl jerseys on and chicks would be all into it also.

half the country is Lakers, Bulls or Celtics fans , Patriot , Steeler or Cowboy fans and in Baseball its Redsox , Yankees and Dodgers what a shocker... no one wants to root for the underdog here, no one can take losing so they just quit on soccer.. its halarious but sad

You don't think a 6'4 athlete with blazing speed who played soccer his entire life and learned the sport would be a good striker?
IF, he got very good with his head he could be a force in the air . Its a different kind of speed, its not just running a 40 or 60 yard dash and catching a ball over a 5'9 guy and going out of bounds or falling down when a safety comes around.

Maybe others would have a chance if they were play since birth but its not like soccer is easier to play then basketball or football. Some people were just born to play certain sports. Randy moss was born to catch passes.

Could you imagine Christian Renoldo as a WR? i bet he would burn anyone

The red cards...that's just mental errors, their squad is pretty young isn't it? These guys have limited experience in the sport, I'm sure they could eventually have a chance at the World Cup again - just not at the moment.

Freddy Adu should play for his country Ghana since the US doesn't use him. Him and Michael Essien would do well next year in the world cup. And that guy Howard isn't a very good goalkeeper for the US. He always gets trashed in the postgame for being out of position, etc.

Thats one of the dumbest arguements I have heard...being a great athlete doesn't necessarily translate to a great soccer player....

I didn't imply they should take off their shoulder pads and tank tops and step on the pitch. If they played soccer all through their youth they would have the skills.
