I wouldn't be surprised if Tiger can do 300. He works out all the time and treats his body right. When I was 17 and a junior in high school, I benched 260 pounds. I was 5'8 165 at the time, not exactly a hoss, all it takes is a little hard work. I could get to 300 no problem with some dedication while only weighing between 155-165 pounds.

There's a common misconception among people that don't lift that benching 300 on a machine is the same as doing it freebar. Anyone that does lift knows it's a huge difference. But don't get me wrong, Tiger is stout for his size and he does lift religously. Freebar 300 for Tiger.... I doubt it. Machine bench 300 for Tiger... probably.

300 on a machine is not a <mans> weight>
hell my wife used to compete in powerlifting meets and she was 40 + at the time and she could do 180 bench at 5 ft 2 100 lbs
on a machine she was doing 225 easy

If i lived in the gym and couldnt work my way up to benching 300, I would quit bothering coming to the gym. I am almost tempted to start working out again and see if I could hit 300, I'm at 5'8 160 right now, anyone going to give me odds? bench 300 by next March? I doubt I could get 225 right now

Matt, Good luck , I am sure if you put your mind to it you could. I think if that was Tigers goal he could do it too. My point is He is on a very strict workout routine and his goal is not to lift as much as possible but to keep him in shape to be the best golfer possible. Strength I am sure has a lot to do with it but, I am sure he has been warned not to get to bulky in his upper body to the point where his bulk would get in the way of his swing. JUSTMYOPINION

me too, ill be a 15-18 handicap the rest of my life i think. don't have enough time to get better. I like that handicap though, if I concentrate in tourneys I can usually go low, but then you have to hear about sandbagging.

seaurchin-

have only recently taken up golf myself--and definetely don't bet it(probably worse than horses if i got started, lol). but i have a question for you, as you seem to be the resident 'golf pro' here.

What do you think tom watson's chances are in the open? was glad to here he was up in the lead yesterday kind of rooting for him here since i understand he has ALS.

thanks
