Congrats to the IRS for winning the 846.3 M lottery
Winner got 433.7 M
Is this true? I thought the winner would get at least 600M
433.7 M is still a lot of money but damn
If you take a lump sum, then your winnings get discounted by the lottery to begin with. The 1.2 billion would have to be paid over 20 years.
Then the IRS would probably take 37% of that reduced number
After that, it depends what state you live in. TX, FL, NH, WA, NV and a couple of others have no income taxes. Believe it or not, CA does not tax lottery winnings.
Some states, mostly liberal, will tax between 7% and 9%. So you could pay as much as 44% to 46%
