I cannot count the number of times this week a team has taken big, double digit sized leads only to let the other team back in the game. I don't know if this is symptomatic of the poor shooting across the NCAA, the general willingness to shoot three point shots rather than higher percentage shots or bad coaching.
1) teams have no need to keep their top players in and win by 20..30. There are more games to play the next day and their kids need rest. So coaches slow it down on offense (disrupting flow) and put the bench players in. The other team is still fighting and bomb more 3s....work harder on offense....and foul a ton at the end.
2) players miss FTs....it happens
Clemson was a great example of this. Up 18 with 8 minutes left....then stopped playing defense and "rested" on offense. Working the shot clock to 8 and then trying to rush a shot up is poor offense. Maybe with 1 or 2 minutes left in the game but not 8. Just run your offense naturally and let the team keep playing
anyway. i caught the end of ISU/OU. That was just dumb, poor luck.
