Of course maybe Mir could sub him but Fedor wasnt able to do in the the first try and I am not sure Mir would take Choi easily to the ground .

Let's just agree to disagree on this one turbozed. Let's concentrate on making money instead of arguing about dumb stuff. Cheers.

Yeah no problem. As far as making money goes, Affliction seems like a bad card to do so since we haven't seen a lot of these guys fight in a long time. At +300 Sylvia probably is a good value since I don't think anyone deserves to be such a big favorite over a solid fighter like Tim. Probably won't take it though.

Jake: I hope you do end up catching the Affliction card sometime and watch with an open mind. There's going to be a lot of BS surrounding the show such as an unnecessary Megadeath performance and probably lots of ugly t-shirts. But there's going to be a lot of great HW talent. Hopefully the fights turn out to be good ones.

EX - Anderson Silva’s first UFC fight vs. Chris Leben. The UFC was telling everyone how good Leben was and he was a heavy handed world beater.

Guess what the Leben was a sportsbook favorite before that fight

best dog pick for all three events is Mike Whitehead over Sobral at +215

I remember betting on that fight. On CRIS, Silva started off as a -300 favorite, but the public bet on Leben and drove it down to -180 or something which is what I ended up taking. Still a good price.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Yea he's the one. Kicked out a limo window. Apparently he has cleaned up his act though.

just reread it, apparently Jesse Taylor did on that crazy night.

Controversial participants

The UFC is granting a second chance to Jesse Taylor -- who urinated himself. Affliction pairs penalized Renato "Babalu" Sobral -- who held on a choke too long against David Heath -- against Mike Whitehead.

I can't condone either man's behavior, but random discharge of bodily fluids is a pretty hard public relations blunder to solve.

Advantage: Affliction

LOL @ the idea of Fedor not being interested in fighting in a major organization with legit talent.

Fedor didn't want to play by the restrictive contracts. That's a disagreement between the UFC and Fedor, and you can't blame either party if they're not getting what they want out of the deal.

But to say that Fedor was dodging *competition* is laughable and completely disproved by the facts here. First of all, UFC's HW division has always been lackluster. I don't think Fedor is really scared of fighting in the organization whose champion he had already dominated twice before.

Furthermore, Fedor's resistance to signing to the UFC has actually increased the level of competition available for him to fight since the best HW talent now is not signed with the UFC. Barnett, Couture, and Arlovski are the most compelling fights for Fedor and he not with the UFC. I'm not very interested seeing Fedor vs. Nog IV, or Fedor destroyHeath Herring again.

Like I said, the UFC has done a good job of making some care more about their brand than the actual fighters. It's not a bad thing in itself, but when you make the mistake of assuming that UFC must have the best HW competition because of the magic letters U-F-C, then something more insidious is at work.

Pretty good post. It's actually laughable that anyone thinks Fedor couldn't compete in the UFC. Shit he beat the UFC champion 2 times the last time I checked. In fact if it wasn't for Fedor, Nog could very well be considered the best heavyweight ever. What heavyweight in the UFC can't he compete with? The only guy who I would consider somewhat of a threat is Couture. The cage and elbows I think would benefit him a lot in that matchup. Then again who the hell knows what he is doing with his career.

Not sure about pissing, but Tim Sylvia earned the nickname "the Stainiac" after he shit his britches while allegedly fighting while under the weather.

Never said he couldn't compete. I questioned his desire to fight legit opponents on a regular basis.

Ring. Affliction asked the fighters what they preferred and the consensus was 'ring.'
