dont worry, they'll find a way to be 1 of the 2 wildcards as your dont have to win your conference (or division i guess) to qualify

Truth be told, if this situation played out in 2017, then Bama would have been 1 of the final 8. Probably Wisky would have been the 2nd team?

If I had all the money in the world
I'd put up $2mil for Bama and UCF to play against each other.
Just.... to see, just for the hell of it.
Yeah Bama would be a huge favorite..
But it would be great to watch...

isnt this what they do for college basketball and baseball?

All we are doing here is guaranteeing 1 Group of 5 team a chance to play in "the dance". Fans would be happy to "root for the underdog".

Not sure why is a participation championship???

In my book, if you win all your games, then you are champion. Then you're perfect.
