Gentleman Dan Caldwell was the prisoner that rated a spruced up cell. Charlie Varney was Otis Campbell's Bootleggers name. Jimmy was the name of the loaded goat who ate the dynamite. Floyd always thought Calvin Coolidge was the best president. Ellie was Andy's first flame who worked at the Drugstore and gave Opie ice cream. The little boy who ate peanut butter sandwiches was named Leroy. Mrs. Lesh was the name of the con woman Barney bought the car from in Mount Pilot.

Dooley was a good old man who lived behind the mill, Dooley had 2 daughters and a 20 gallon still. One girl watched the boiler, the other watched the spout and Dooley corked the bottles when they came out. Dooley sitting up the holler, Dooley trying to make a dollar, Dooley give a swaller and I'll pay you back some day.

I have no idea what the Darlin boys name were but they aimed to keep their place in the community.

Salty Dawg was another one Charlene would sing. Tearin Up your Dirty Clothes For Rags come to mind. There Is A Time To Wander is the spooky one with the dark tones. Dooley was always the favorite and once knew a guitar picker with Rick Dixon And The Fallen Angels who used it as his encore.

Goober didnt like Howard Sprague. He didnt want him on the bowling team or at the opening day of fishing. (Then Howard caught ol' Sam)

I think I remember Aunt Bee having Jury Duty but was The Jack Nicholson in that episode? If so they is definitely a knew one on me. I remember the opening day of fishing with Goober in that episode. In another fishing episode Henry Bennett is the name of the jinx that goes out in Andy's boat to prove to Barney he is not a jinx. Barney recites "'Fly away buzzard fly away crow way down south where the winds don't blow scratch your head and give two winks and save us all from this terrible jinx". Henry later pulls out the hand band size 6 7/8" instead of the winning door prize number at the church bazaar.

I really enjoy all this Andy Griffith Show discussion.

I am a HUGE fan of this show. I have 5 books that are all about the show. Have all the episodes on dvd.

My favorite episode is Convicts at Large. Barney and Floyd are up in O'Malley's cabin with 3 female convicts. It is a classic.
Big Maude is played by Reta Shaw. She also played Barney's piano teacher Miss Poultice.
Naomi anther convict was played by Jean Carson. she also played Daphne, one of the Fun Girls.

Ron Howard's dad was in 4 episodes.
Andy's wife was in one episode.

What a great show.

Was Goober in the episode where Barney holds a mock seance in the back of the courthouse to contact Count Von Telicke with information for the finger print kit ordered from Mount Pilot? Was it Floyd Barney and Goober all huddled together in trembling fear as the audience hears the door to the courthouse open proving an occultic existence and the finger print kit mysteriously delivered on the Sheriff's desk.

Many of the episodes dealt with things of the unkown and superstitions. The Haunted Rimshaw Mansion, Henry Bennett As A Jinx, The Darlin's Mountain Divorce Proceedings, Tuskgiroura The Magic Word, and Count Von Telicke.
