Bonus Play Tuesday

There probably won’t be many more daily free baseball plays. Not that I am backing off on the MLB stuff, but the intent here is to draw as many views as I can, and simply stated, football always gets more eyes than baseball.

I think that should cover it! So without further adieu, here’s a football play for Saturday, and note this is a game I’m already on.

205 BYU vs. 206 Arizona 10:30 PM

Take: BYU +1.5

Kind of an unusual setup at several levels on this opener between BYU and Arizona. First off, it’s not a home game for Arizona. The game is at Glendale, and while it’s been lined as a home/neutral for the Wildcats, I’m not sure that’s justified. BYU always travels well, and from what I’m gathering, Cougar Nation has already arrived and they’re going to be out in force for this game.

As for what else is unusual, BYU didn’t name its starting QB till this past week, and Rich Rodriguez is still not saying who will be under center for Arizona. My guess is that Anu Solomon starts as he’s the veteran, but that’s sure not a certainty. Taysom Hill will be the QB1 for BYU, and we’ll see if he’s lost anything due to all the injuries he’s incurred. My info is that he has looked sharp and flat out won the competition.

One big issue on the Arizona side for me is the lack of size on the defensive front. Three of the six guys who figure to see the most action are under 250 pounds. That’s almost unheard of these days, particularly at a major conference school. BYU has a big and experienced OL and I really feel as though there’s a chance for the Cougars to wear down the ‘Cats if they commit to the run on a consistent basis.

The big worry is that it’s a debuting coach in Kalani Sitake who’s replacing a fixture in Bronco Mendenhall. But my concern is probably less than it might normally be as I am not a RichRod believer. So I’m going to bank on my pre-season projections, and those all show the Cougars as the better team. Not by a lot, mind you, but I’ve got BYU by a small margin on a neutral field across the board, I do make this a neutral site so no home field incorporated for ‘Zona, and I’m getting a little bit from the oddsmakers. This figures to be an exciting game that could be high scoring, but the bet for me is BYU plus the small available points.

(961) LOS ANGELES DODGERS VS (962) COLORADO ROCKIES

Take: UNDER

Reason: Your Bonus Play for Tuesday, August 30th, 2016 is in the MLB scheduled contest between the LA Dodgers and Colorado Rockies. The Dodgers are holding onto a slim 2-game lead in the NL West over the Giants. It also appears that the Dodgers made a big roster move by putting Yasiel Puig on waivers. Puig was demoted to the Triple-A Oklahoma on August 1st and has done well, posting a .375 batting average. This might help the Dodgers who obviously want to trade him. Either way, don't expect to see Puig back in a Dodgers uniform. The Dodgers had a big six game run with three against the Giants and three against the Cubs. LA performed well, taking two of three in each series. Rich Hill starts tonight for the Dodgers. Hill came over to the Dodgers on August 1st, but just made his first start on August 24th. Hill performed well, holding the Giants to no runs over six innings for his first NL win. Hill is now 10-3 on the season with a 2.09 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. Meanwhile, the 3rd place Rockies will send Tyler Anderson to the hill. Anderson is 4-5 with a 3.69 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. Anderson has allowed more than four runs just once in his last 10 starts, not bad for a pitcher that has to face the altitude of Coors field. The last eight of nine meetings between these clubs have gone UNDER. Even with tonight's contest in Denver with a high total, I like both these pitchers to keep this game low scoring. Play the UNDER.

CIN vs LAA

5* MLB Free Pick Over

The Los Angeles Angels hammered the Cincinnati Reds in 9-2 victory on Monday. I think we'll see another high-scoring game as the three-game series continues tonight.

Tim Adleman (2-1, 3.68 ERA) takes the ball for the Reds. The 28 year old rookie was tagged with five runs (four earned) on five hits with three homers in five innings of a 6-5 loss at Texas his last start. He's pitched more than five innings in just one of his six major leagues start so I think it's a fair assumption he'll leave the game early only to hand over the ball to the worst bullpen in baseball.

The Halos turn to veteran right-hander Jered Weaver (9-11, 5.31 ERA). He held the Jays to a pair of runs in 5 2/3 innings of a 6-3 win his last time out but had surrendered four earned runs or more in each of his previous three starts. Cincy has nothing to play for but pride, but the team has not stopped trying and the Reds have swung their bats alright in recent games.

Over is 4-1-1 in the last six head-to-head meetings and 8-2 in the Reds' last 10 games following a loss.

Joinville vs Bahia

Bonus Play DRAW +213

I like the Draw at +213 when these two soccer teams meet on Tuesday in South America. The total is set at 2 so they are expecting a low score. I think it ends 1-1.

Bahia 1

Joinville 1
