GAME: Cleveland Indians (37-31) at Baltimore Orioles (34-35)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The surging Cleveland Indians have ripped off six consecutive victories and look to remain perfect on their road trip when they continue a four-game series at the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. Fresh off a four-game sweep in Minnesota, the American League Central-leading Indians pounded Baltimore 12-0 in the series opener.

Jose Ramirez is a blistering 19-for-33 during a streak of seven straight multiple-hit games and set a club record with at least one double in his seventh contest in a row. Carlos Santana and Austin Jackson had three RBIs each for Cleveland, which has rolled up 52 runs during its winning streak to move a season-high six games over .500. The Orioles had swatted nine homers during a modest two-game winning streak but their pitching staff was ravaged for double-digit runs for the fifth time in 10 games. Baltimore also set an AL record by allowing at least five runs in 16 consecutive games and will hand to ball to struggling veteran Chris Tillman, who is mired in a five-start losing streak.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, STO (Cleveland), MASN (Baltimore)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Indians RH Josh Tomlin (4-8, 5.83 ERA) vs. Orioles RH Chris Tillman (1-5, 8.07)

Tomlin was victorious last time out versus the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he was hardly impressive in allowing four runs and seven hits over five innings. He was pounded for four runs and nine hits over 2 2/3 innings in his previous turn -- the third time this season he's failed to get through three innings. Tomlin is 3-3 with a 5.19 ERA against the Orioles and has been lit up by Adam Jones (10-for-18).

Tillman was roughed up for five runs and a season-worst 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings at the White Sox last time, which came on the heels of a beating by the Yankees in which he was tattooed for nine runs in 1 1/3 innings. Tillman has not won since his season debut on May 7 and has surrendered eight homers in his last four starts. Edwin Encarnacion is 17-for-58 with three homers against Tillman.

WALK-OFFS

1. Encarnacion collected his 1,500th career hit in the series opener.

2. Orioles SS J.J. Hardy went on the disabled list Monday and is expected to miss four to six weeks with a fractured wrist.

3. Indians OF Michael Brantley (ankle), expected to come off the paternity list, was placed on the 10-day DL on Monday.

GAME: Los Angeles Angels (36-37) at New York Yankees (38-29)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The New York Yankees didn't fare so well on the west coast and come home riding a season-worst six-game losing streak. The Yankees will face another American League West squad on Tuesday but this time will do it from the comforts of home when they open a three-game series against the visiting Los Angeles Angels.

New York began its seven-game west coast trip with a win at Los Angeles on June 12 but dropped the next two in the series and four straight at Oakland - with four of the losses coming by one run. "It's not what you want, obviously," Yankees manager Joe Giardi told reporters of the slide. "You know at some point you're going to go through some tough spells, and we just went through one. We've got to bounce back on Tuesday." The Angels jumped over .500 with those two wins over New York but dropped three of four against Kansas City over the weekend to fall to 36-37 and is about to begin an eight-game road trip that takes them through New York, Boston and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Los Angeles will try to kick off the road trip strong behind right-hander Parker Bridwell, who goes up against Yankees righty Michael Pineda.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, MLB Network, FSN West (Los Angeles), WPIX (New York)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Angels RH Parker Bridwell (1-0, 2.79 ERA) vs. Yankees RH Michael Pineda (7-3, 3.71)

Bridwell won his first start of the season against Atlanta on May 30, allowing three runs in six innings, and made his second appearance last Wednesday out of the bullpen. The 25-year-old came on in relief of Matt Shoemaker against the Yankees last week and is taking the rotation spot of Shoemaker, who is on the disabled list with a forearm strain. Bridwell held New York to an unearned run on seven hits over 3 2/3 innings on Wednesday.

Pineda went up against the Angels on Wednesday and did not factor in the decision while getting knocked around for five runs and 10 hits over six innings. The Dominican Republic native surrendered five earned runs in two of his last three outings after a string of nine straight starts allowing three or fewer. Pineda is 6-1 with a 1.96 ERA in seven starts at home this season.

WALK-OFFS

1. Angels CF Cameron Maybin hit safely in each of the last nine games and scored 12 runs in that span.

2. Yankees LHP Aroldis Chapman (shoulder) threw seven of eight pitches for strikes in a perfect inning on Sunday - his first appearance since May 12.

3. New York INF prospect Gleyber Torres will undergo Tommy John surgery to repair the UCL in his left - non-throwing - elbow and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

GAME: St. Louis Cardinals (31-37) at Philadelphia Phillies (22-46)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The St. Louis Cardinals appeared to be on the verge of turning their season around following a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies two weekends ago, but the losing ways of the worst team in the majors seems to have rubbed off on them instead. The Cardinals seek only their third win in a stretch of 15 road contests Tuesday when they open a three-game set in Philadelphia.

St. Louis ended a season-high seven-game slide by silencing the Phillies' bats from June 9-11 at Busch Stadium, as the rotation recorded a 1.80 ERA while picking up the win in every contest during the three-game set. While the offense has held up its end of the bargain by scoring 44 runs in the seven games since, Cardinals' starting pitchers have not - posting a 9.39 ERA while the team has won only two of seven. Philadelphia (22-46), which has mustered a total of 30 runs while dropping 11 of 12, fell in extra innings for the third time in a week Sunday against Arizona and has lost six one-run affairs during its slide. Phillies first baseman Tommy Joseph has been a rare bright spot for the majors' second-lowest scoring offense, batting .339 during his career-high 14-game hitting streak.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, FSN Midwest (St. Louis), CSN Philadelphia

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Mike Leake (5-6, 3.14 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Jeremy Hellickson (5-5, 4.91)

Since opening the season with nine quality starts, Leake has been unable to do so once in his last four turns - the last of which came against Milwaukee on Wednesday when he was tagged for a season-high six runs in as many frames. The Arizona State product has lost each of his outings during the slide while posting a 6.20 ERA - a far cry from the 5-2 record and 1.91 ERA he boasted leading into Memorial Day. Leake is 3-3 with a 5.40 ERA in 10 starts versus the Phillies.

Like his counterpart Tuesday, Hellickson has dropped four straight decisions, including Wednesday's loss against Boston in which he surrendered six runs on nine hits and three walks over five innings. Walks have been a problem for the 30-year-old Iowa native during his five-start winless spell, as he has issued 14 of his 23 on the season while posting a 7.57 ERA. Hellickson took the loss in arguably his best outing in that time on June 9 in St. Louis, allowing three runs and a season-high 10 hits in six frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cardinals CF Dexter Fowler has seven two-hit efforts over his last 10 games and homered in each of his last four. He has also has driven in at least one run in seven of his last eight contests.

2. Phillies RHP Pat Neshek hasn't allowed a run in his last 14 outings - spanning 13 1/3 innings - and his 0.67 ERA is the lowest in the majors among pitchers with at least 25 innings.

3. Since moving into the leadoff spot on June 7, St. Louis 1B Matt Carpenter has hit safely in 10 of 12 games while batting .405.

GAME: Washington Nationals (42-28) at Miami Marlins (31-37)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 7:10 PM EST
WHERE: Marlins Park, Miami, Florida
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Miami Marlins put an end to a brief hiccup in their hot streak by overcoming an early six-run deficit to stun the Washington Nationals in the opener of their three-game series. After Marcell Ozuna's RBI single in the ninth inning capped an 8-7 win, Miami vies for its 15th victory in 22 outings and a series victory to boot on Tuesday when the National League East rivals reconvene at Marlins Park.

Ozuna has recorded at least one hit in each contest versus Washington this season and five total to go along with four RBIs, but the 26-year-old Dominican is just 2-for-12 in his career against Tuesday starter and Miami native Gio Gonzalez. Giancarlo Stanton rebounded from a 1-for-14 series against Atlanta with his eighth career three-hit performance of the season, highlighted by his 18th homer to pull even with Ozuna and Justin Bour. Stanton's blast provided yet another troublesome performance by Washington's beleaguered bullpen, which saw Enny Romero fall victim in the ninth inning for the team's seventh loss in 11 games. Bryce Harper started the Nationals on the right foot as his two-run homer extended his hitting streak to 12 games, but he's just 1-for-11 with three strikeouts in his career against Tuesday starter Edinson Volquez.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, MASN (Washington), FSN Florida (Miami)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals LH Gio Gonzalez (6-1, 2.89 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Edinson Volquez (3-7, 3.72)

Gonzalez improved to 3-0 in his last four starts on Thursday after allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings of an 8-3 victory at the New York Mets. The 31-year-old has permitted two runs or fewer in 11 of his 14 starts, including a sterling effort against Miami to begin the season. Gonzalez, who owns a 1-2 mark with a 4.24 ERA in four career starts at Marlins Park, scattered seven hits and struck out seven over six scoreless innings in a no-decision on April 6.

Volquez highlighted a three-start winning streak with a no-hitter against Arizona on June 3, but was left with a no-decision in his last outing on Wednesday. The 33-year-old Dominican allowed five runs on four hits with as many walks in four innings of a no-decision versus Oakland. Volquez received the same result despite pitching well in his last encounter with Washington, scattering four hits and striking out six over five scoreless innings on April 3.

WALK-OFFS

1. Washington SS Trea Turner, who is from Boynton Beach, Fla., has hit safely in four straight and seven of his last eight games.

2. Bour, who had a grand slam in the opener, has recorded multi-hit performances in two straight contests and six in his last 10.

3. Nationals CF Michael Taylor, who is from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is 10-for-28 with two homers, six RBIs and six runs scored in his last seven games.

GAME: San Francisco Giants (26-46) at Atlanta Braves (32-37)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 7:35 PM EST
WHERE: SunTrust Park, Cumberland, Georgia
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The times continue to be tough for the San Francisco Giants, who enter Tuesday’s matchup at the Atlanta Braves looking to break a seven-game losing streak as the National League West cellar dweller continues to search for answers. The Giants dropped Monday's opener of a four-game series 9-0, their 15th loss in the past 20 games, and the San Francisco offense managed just four hits while being held to two runs or fewer for the ninth time in the past 20 games.

Third baseman Eduardo Nunez legged out a first-inning infield single Monday, extending his consecutive games streak of reaching base to 30 (the longest current streak in the majors). Atlanta moved within five games of .500 and won for the fifth time in seven games as Ender Inciarte recorded his 27th multi-hit game of the season. Matt Adams slugged his 10th homer in 28 games in a Braves’ uniform, finishing with two RBIs. In their past seven games, the Braves have recorded 51 runs and 80 hits.

TV: 7:35 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Bay Area (San Francisco), FSN Southeast (Atlanta)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants LH Matt Moore (2-7, 6.00 ERA) vs. Braves RH Julio Teheran (6-4, 4.86)

Moore is 0-3 in his past six starts, posting a 6.47 ERA and .318 opponents batting average as the Giants have lost five of those six contests. He struck out seven in three innings Thursday at Colorado, giving up eight runs on 11 hits (both season highs) in getting a no-decision. Moore, who makes his first career appearance against Atlanta, has been dreadful away from home in going 0-4 with a 9.24 ERA.

Teheran seemingly has figured out the new SunTrust Park, allowing one earned run in 12 innings across his past two home starts after giving up 26 runs in his previous four outings at home. He beat the Nationals on Wednesday in Washington, surrendering two runs on six hits in seven strong innings to win his third consecutive decision. Teheran is 2-2 with a 3.99 ERA in five career starts against the Giants.

WALK-OFFS

1. Adams, who hit one homer with seven RBIs in 48 at-bats with St. Louis before being traded to the Braves, has 27 RBIs in 111 at-bats since being traded to Atlanta.

2. San Francisco C Buster Posey finished 0-for-3 Monday but was hit by a pitch, marking the 57th time in 60 games played this season he has reached base.

3. Giants P Hunter Strickland lost his appeal of a six-game suspension for fighting and began serving the penalty Monday.

GAME: Pittsburgh Pirates (32-38) at Milwaukee Brewers (38-34)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 7:40 PM EST
WHERE: Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Pittsburgh Pirates have fared well in Milwaukee of late and look to defeat the Brewers for the second straight night when they square off on Tuesday. Pittsburgh rolled to an 8-1 victory in the opener of the four-game series and will be aiming for its eighth win in the last nine meetings at Miller Park.

Pirates star Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs in the opener, giving him four blasts and nine RBIs over his last six contests. Pittsburgh, which has won six of nine after prevailing in the opener of its seven-game road trip, trails the first-place Brewers by five games in the National League Central. Monday's defeat was just the second in seven contests for Milwaukee, which has scored just three runs in its last two games. Domingo Santana is 0-for-12 with four strikeouts over his last three contests after going hitless in four at-bats in the opener.

TV: 7:40 p.m. ET, ROOT Pittsburgh, FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Pirates RH Chad Kuhl (1-6, 5.61 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Zach Davies (7-3, 4.91)

Kuhl is winless in 12 starts since defeating Atlanta on April 8 in his first turn of the season. The 24-year-old has pitched five or fewer innings in each of his last 10 turns, including a three-inning scoreless outing against Milwaukee on May 5 in which he didn't return after a rain delay. Kuhl is 1-0 with a 1.76 ERA in three career starts against the Brewers and has held Hernan Perez without a hit in seven at-bats.

Davies has won seven of his last eight outings after losing his first two of the season. The 24-year-old escaped with a no-decision against St. Louis in his last turn after giving up four runs and nine hits over five innings. Davies is 1-2 with an ugly 9.56 ERA in four career starts against Pittsburgh, but the victory came when he allowed two runs and four hits in 5 2/3 frames on May 7.

WALK-OFFS

1. Brewers 2B Jonathan Villar (back) is expected to begin a rehab assignment later this week.

2. Pittsburgh 1B Josh Bell was hitless in five at-bats in the opener and is 3-for-18 over his last five games.

3. Milwaukee RHP Neftali Feliz was released Monday after the team was unable to trade him.

The novelty of Anthony Rizzo batting leadoff for the Chicago Cubs hasn’t worn off yet, and it won’t as long as the slugging first baseman keeps doing what he’s doing at the top of the order. Red-hot Rizzo and the Cubs aim for their third straight victory when they host the San Diego Padres in the middle contest of a three-game series on Tuesday.

Rizzo remained unblemished in reaching base leading off the game when he laid down a bunt against the shift in the first inning of Monday’s 3-2 win. He is 5-for-5 with two homers, a double, and a walk starting games, and the Cubs have gone 4-2 during that stretch to pull within 1 1/2 games of Milwaukee in the National League Central. The win was the Cubs’ first in four tries against the Padres this season, and they needed to rally with two runs in the seventh for their seventh win when trailing entering the seventh inning, tied for the most in the NL. San Diego has dropped eight of its last 10 road games and is 11-25 away from home.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, FSN San Diego, CSN Chicago

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres RH Jhoulys Chacin (6-5, 5.10 ERA) vs. Cubs LH Mike Montgomery (0-3, 2.56)

Chacin aims for his third straight win after allowing two runs over seven innings in each of his last two outings. The 29-year-old Venezuelan had a disastrous outing May 23 against the New York Mets in which he gave up seven runs and recorded only two outs, but he has pitched to a 3.70 ERA in four starts since. Chacin is 2-3 with a 3.98 ERA in six games (five starts) against the Cubs, but he hasn’t faced them since 2012.

Montgomery takes his third turn in the rotation in place of Kyle Hendricks, and the 27-year-old is still looking for his first win of the season. He hasn’t factored in the decision in either of his starts, but he went deeper last time out, allowing three runs (two earned) over five innings against the Mets. Montgomery has made three appearances (one start) against the Padres and is 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA.

WALK-OFFS

1. Rizzo is 20-for-47 with four home runs and 16 RBIs during a career-best 13-game hitting streak, and he is 4-for-8 with a homer against Chacin.

2. Padres C Austin Hedges left Monday’s game with a bruised right thigh after a collision with Rizzo at home plate.

3. Chicago LF Kyle Schwarber exited Monday’s contest after fouling a ball off his right ankle, but X-rays were negative.

GAME: Toronto Blue Jays (34-35) at Texas Rangers (34-35)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 8:05 PM EST
WHERE: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Toronto Blue Jays have eliminated Texas from the playoffs each of the last two seasons and once again made things difficult for the Rangers in their latest meeting. Toronto pushed across two runs in the ninth inning for a 7-6 victory over host Texas in the series opener and aims to notch another victory on Tuesday in the second contest of their four-game set.

Josh Donaldson and Kendrys Morales each delivered a run-scoring single in the decisive ninth as the Blue Jays won the opener of their seven-game road trip to climb within one game of .500. Jose Bautista - soundly booed in his first regular-season visit to Texas since last year's fight in which Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor delivered a right cross to his jaw - homered for just the second time this month. Adrian Beltre delivered a three-double in the opener and needs 41 hits to join the 3,000 club. The Rangers have dropped two straight to fall one game below .500 after winning seven of eight.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, Sportsnet, TVA (Toronto), FSN Southwest (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays LH Francisco Liriano (3-2, 5.36 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Nick Martinez (1-3, 4.67)

Liriano did not factor in the decision in his last turn, when he struck out nine while allowing three runs - two earned - and five hits in seven innings against Tampa Bay. The 33-year-old has been torched on the road, posting an 8.16 ERA and 14 walks in 14 1/3 frames while going 0-1 with a 2.30 WHIP in four outings. Liriano is 5-2 with a 3.42 ERA in 10 career appearances (eight starts) against the Rangers.

Martinez wasn't involved in the decision in his last outing after giving up two runs and five hits over six innings against Houston. The 26-year-old is winless in five home appearances (four starts) this season and 6-10 with a 4.45 ERA in 33 career games (25 starts) at Globe Life Park. Martinez is 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA and 1.82 WHIP in two career starts against the Blue Jays and has served up homers to Troy Tulowitzki, Russell Martin and Steve Pearce.

WALK-OFFS

1. Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak belted his 20th homer in the opener, matching his career high set in 2013 with Seattle.

2. Texas LHP Cole Hamels (oblique) is slated to throw 75 pitches on Wednesday in his second rehab start for Double-A Frisco.

3. Toronto placed Joe Smith (shoulder) on the 10-day disabled list and recalled fellow RHP Leonel Campos from Triple-A Buffalo.

GAME: Chicago White Sox (31-37) at Minnesota Twins (34-33)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 8:10 PM EST
WHERE: Target Field, Minneapolis, Minnesota
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Minnesota Twins watched their lead in the American League Central disappear while dropping four straight over the weekend to the Cleveland Indians. The Twins will try to turn things around ahead of another showdown with Cleveland next weekend when they host the Chicago White Sox in the opener of a three-game series on Tuesday.

Minnesota was outscored 28-8 in dropping four straight to the Indians over the weekend and is 2-6 on its 11-game homestand. "You let four games go to your chief competitor and somehow you have to get past it and learn from it," Twins manager Paul Molitor told reporters. "I don't know if you want to use it as a measuring stick, but hopefully the guys learn what it takes to go out there, and hopefully we're better for it." The White Sox are winners of five of their last seven games but missed out on a chance to sweep the Toronto Blue Jays when they dropped a 7-3 decision on Sunday. The Twins will try to stop the bleeding behind ace Ervin Santana while the White Sox counter with lefty Derek Holland.

TV: 8:10 p.m. ET, WGN (Chicago), FSN North (Minnesota)

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox LH Derek Holland (5-6, 3.79 ERA) vs. Twins RH Ervin Santana (8-4, 2.56)

Holland snapped a three-start losing streak last Tuesday by holding the Baltimore Orioles to one run on eight hits and two walks in six innings. The 30-year-old was lit up for 14 runs and 17 hits in a combined seven innings over his first two June outings. Holland was not at his best against Minnesota on May 11, when he was charged with seven runs - three earned - on six hits and four walks in five innings to absorb the loss.

Santana sandwiched two poor starts around a shutout in his last three turns and is searching for the consistency that made him the best pitcher in the AL over the first six weeks. The Dominican Republic native was charged with five runs on nine hits and a walk in five innings against Seattle on Wednesday. Santana breezed through two starts against the White Sox in April, surrendering a total of three hits in 15 scoreless innings en route to two wins.

WALK-OFFS

1. The White Sox placed OF Leury Garcia (finger) on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to Friday.

2. Minnesota 1B Joe Mauer is 5-for-30 with nine strikeouts in his last nine games.

3. Chicago LHP Carlos Rodon (biceps) is expected to make one more rehab start this week before returning to the rotation.

GAME: Boston Red Sox (39-31) at Kansas City Royals (34-35)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 8:15 PM EST
WHERE: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Chris Sale sustained his first loss in seven weeks in his last outing despite turning in arguably his best performance of the season. The 28-year-old aims for a better end result on Tuesday, when the Boston Red Sox play the second contest of their three-game series against the host Kansas City Royals.

Jackie Bradley Jr. belted a two-run homer in Monday's 4-2 setback to highlight a three-hit performance and improve to 16-for-41 in his last 11 games, although he had a defensive play that proved costly in the loss. While the 27-year-old has been swinging a hot bat, Boston as a team is singing a different tune with just 11 runs during a 2-3 stretch after beginning its eight-game road trip with a 7-3 rout of Philadelphia. Kansas City has won eight of nine to inch within one game of the .500 mark, with Eric Hosmer going deep on Monday to give the team 19 homers in its last 10 contests. Lorenzo Cain, who is hitting .346 in 52 career at-bats versus Sale, recorded a pair of singles in the opener to improve to 13-for-28 during his seven-game hitting streak.

TV: 8:15 p.m. ET, NESN (Boston), FSN Kansas City

PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox LH Chris Sale (8-3, 2.82 ERA) vs. Royals LH Matt Strahm (2-3, 3.67)

Sale fanned 10 on Thursday to reach double digits in strikeouts for the ninth time in his last 13 outings, only to be undone by a stray run in a 1-0 setback against the struggling Phillies. He allowed just four hits and even registered one of his own in the losing effort. Sale owns a 9-10 career record and 2.97 ERA versus Kansas City, although the Royals have batted .277 against him.

Strahm acquitted himself well in his first major-league start on Thursday after making 41 appearances as a reliever over the last two seasons. The 25-year-old allowed one unearned run and three hits in five innings of a 7-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. "I don't ever feel like I conserve anything. Competing every pitch and just try to be as effective as possible with every pitch," Strahm, who has been pressed into the starting rotation because of injuries to Danny Duffy and Nathan Karns, told reporters.

WALK-OFFS

1. Kansas City C Salvador Perez, who came in as a defensive replacement late in the opener, has recorded three homers, seven RBIs and nine runs scored during his 10-game hitting streak.

2. Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts notched a pair of singles in the opener to extend his hitting streak versus the Royals to 17 games.

3. Kansas City LF Alex Gordon is 1-for-10 with five strikeouts in his last three contests.

GAME: Arizona Diamondbacks (44-26) at Colorado Rockies (46-26)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 8:40 PM EST
WHERE: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The battle for National League West supremacy takes on a head-to-head feel this week, when the Colorado Rockies host the Arizona Diamondbacks in a three-game series beginning Tuesday. The Rockies entered the week with a narrow lead over the Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the three teams own the three best records in the NL.

Colorado is on a five-game winning streak but is merely the second-hottest team in the bunch, with the Diamondbacks coming into the series 5-0 on its current eight-game road trip and riding a string of seven consecutive wins and 10 of 11 overall. The Rockies nearly had their winning streak come to an end on Sunday before Nolan Arenado completed a cycle with a walk-off home run in a 7-5 win over the San Francisco Giants. "He's an All-Star player," Colorado manager Bud Black told reporters of Arenado. "He's one of the best players in the game. He's capable of doing these things, no doubt about that. And he's been swinging well. That's the thing. His at-bats today, his at-bats yesterday, his at-bats the last couple of days have been solid." Trying to stop Arenado on Tuesday will be Diamondbacks ace Zack Greinke, who goes up against Rockies righty German Marquez.

TV: 8:40 p.m. ET, FSN Arizona, ROOT Rocky Mountain (Colorado)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Zack Greinke (8-3, 3.00 ERA) vs. Rockies RH German Marquez (5-3, 4.19)

Greinke failed to make it through six innings in either of his last two starts and was charged with five unearned runs on five hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings at Detroit last Tuesday. The 33-year-old owns 104 strikeouts in 90 total innings and is limiting opponents to a .222 batting average. Greinke was solid in a pair of starts against Colorado earlier this season, going 1-0 while yielding a total of five runs in 13 innings and striking out 16.

Marquez failed to make it through six innings in any of his last four starts but is coming off a win at Pittsburgh on Wednesday in which he allowed one run and four hits in five frames. The Venezuela native surrendered one or no earned runs in five of his last seven outings. Marquez struck out eight in six scoreless innings at Arizona on April 30 but was not as sharp against the Diamondbacks on May 5, when he was knocked around for five runs in six frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Diamondbacks CF A.J. Pollock (groin) began a minor-league rehab assignment on Saturday and is expected to stay at Triple-A Reno as he ramps up his activity level this week.

2. Rockies SS Trevor Story is 5-for-9 with two home runs in the last three games.

3. Colorado LHP Jake McGee allowed three earned runs in two innings over his last three appearances, lifting his ERA from 1.32 to 2.15.

GAME: Houston Astros (47-24) at Oakland Athletics (31-39)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 10:05 PM EST
WHERE: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

After having their hopes of a second straight four-game sweep immediately squashed, the Oakland Athletics host the Houston Astros on Tuesday for the second contest of their set. Oakland began its eight-game homestand by winning four in a row against the New York Yankees but dropped a 4-1 decision to Houston in Monday's opener to end its streak.

The Athletics managed only four hits in the setback, with Jed Lowrie's sixth-inning double driving in the club's lone run. Houston looks to post back-to-back wins for the first time in two weeks after beginning its seven-game road trip in victorious fashion. The Astros used their power to get a jump on Oakland, with Jake Marisnick, George Springer and Derek Fisher belting homers in the triumph. Springer's blast was his second in two games and 20th of the year, marking the third time he has reached the plateau in his four major-league seasons.

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, ROOT Southwest (Houston), NBCSN California (Oakland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Astros RH Francis Martes (1-0, 5.19 ERA) vs. Athletics RH Sonny Gray (2-2, 4.44)

Martes will be making his second major-league start after earning his first career victory Wednesday against Texas. The 21-year-old Dominican worked five innings, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while recording seven strikeouts. Martes made his debut five days earlier, when he yielded four runs in 3 2/3 frames of relief versus the Los Angeles Angels.

Gray's winless streak reached four starts Thursday as he did not factor in the decision against the New York Yankees after giving up three runs on eight hits and three walks over 5 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old native of Tennessee has suffered just one loss during his drought but hasn't won since limiting Miami to one run in seven frames on May 24. Gray has made eight career starts against Houston, going 4-2 with one complete game and a 2.53 ERA.

WALK-OFFS

1. Astros 2B Jose Altuve went 0-for-4 in the opener, ending his streak of four consecutive multi-hit performances and keeping him six hits behind Bill Doran (1,139) for ninth place on the franchise list.

2. Oakland rookie 3B Matt Chapman is battling an infection in his left knee and will be out indefinitely.

3. Houston OF Josh Reddick - who formerly played for the Athletics - is expected to be activated from the 7-day concussion list and in Tuesday's lineup.

GAME: Detroit Tigers (32-37) at Seattle Mariners (35-37)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Safeco Field, Seattle, Washington
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Mike Zunino's batting struggles currently are a thing of the past as he looks to continue his torrid hitting when the Seattle Mariners host the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday for the second contest of their four-game series. Zunino smacked a pair of two-run homers in Monday's 6-2 win and has recorded five blasts and 13 RBIs over his last six games.

Zunino has been an offensive liability most of his career, but a trip to the minors and a revamping of his swing is paying dividends. "It is trusting the routine and trusting the process and putting in the work in the cage," Zunino, who has registered eight homers and 26 RBIs this month, told reporters of his sudden offensive prowess. Detroit has scored just five runs while losing three consecutive games and has dropped eight of its last 11 contests. The Tigers are just 14-21 on the road after losing the opener of their seven-game trip.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, FSN Detroit, ROOT Northwest (Seattle)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Tigers RH Jordan Zimmermann (5-5, 5.35 ERA) vs. Mariners LH Ariel Miranda (6-3, 4.17)

Zimmermann is 1-3 over his last five starts despite allowing two or fewer runs in four of the outings. The 31-year-old lost to Arizona in his last turn as he gave up two runs and six hits in eight innings of a 2-1 defeat. Zimmermann is 2-0 with a 5.25 ERA in two career starts against the Mariners and has experienced issues with Robinson Cano (3-for-7, two walks).

Miranda served up three homers while being tagged for six runs and 10 hits in four innings of a loss to Minnesota in his last turn. The 28-year-old Cuban gave up two runs or fewer in six consecutive starts - going 3-0 during the stretch - before being pummeled by the Twins. Miranda, who allowed one run in one inning of relief against Detroit last season, is 7-1 with a 2.62 ERA in 13 career appearances (12 starts) at Safeco Field.

WALK-OFFS

1. Mariners DH Nelson Cruz is 3-for-24 over his last six games and homerless in his last 12.

2. Detroit C Alex Avila was hitless in three at-bats Monday after three consecutive two-hit performances.

3. Seattle RHP Hisashi Iwakuma (shoulder) and SS Jean Segura (ankle) began rehab stints at Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, and the latter could rejoin the team as soon as Wednesday.

GAME: New York Mets (31-38) at Los Angeles Dodgers (45-26)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 20 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

One day after becoming the fastest player to reach 21 career home runs in major-league history, rookie Cody Bellinger looks to add to his total Tuesday as the Los Angeles Dodgers continue their four-game series against the visiting New York Mets. Bellinger recorded his fifth multi-homer performance in Monday’s 10-6 victory as the Dodgers won for the 10th time in 11 contests.

The dynamic first baseman-outfielder has belted 21 homers in 51 games for the surging Dodgers, who have won four in a row to move a season-high 19 games over .500 and one-half game behind first-place Colorado in the National League West. Los Angeles has scored a total of 28 runs over its last three contests while Justin Turner is riding a 14-game hitting streak after going 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs in Monday’s win. The Mets have lost four of their last five but received a surprising boost Monday from Jose Reyes, who recorded two homers and three RBIs. Jay Bruce added a solo blast for New York, which has hit 35 home runs in its last 17 games.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, ESPN, SNY (New York), SportsNet LA (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Robert Gsellman (5-4, 5.50 ERA) vs. Dodgers RH Brandon McCarthy (5-3, 3.14)

A Santa Monica native who attended Westchester High School in Los Angeles, Gsellman is looking to bounce back after allowing seven runs and 11 hits over five innings in Thursday’s 8-3 loss to Washington. The setback snapped a three-game winning streak for the 23-year-old, who is facing the Dodgers for the first time. Gsellman owns a 2-1 record and 6.33 ERA in five games (four starts) on the road this season.

McCarthy turned in a solid start but settled for a no-decision against Cleveland on Wednesday after allowing one run on three hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings. The 33-year-old has struck out 51 and walked 17 over 63 frames in 11 starts this season. McCarthy last faced New York in 2014 while with Arizona and is 0-2 with a 3.55 ERA in two career starts against the Mets.

WALK-OFFS

1. Dodgers LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu will move up a day and start Thursday’s series finale while LHP Alex Wood will face Colorado on Friday.

2. Mets RHP Jacob deGrom was named NL Player of the Week after going 2-0 with a 0.53 ERA in two starts against the Chicago Cubs and Washington.

3. Los Angeles activated RHP Sergio Romo from the 10-day disabled list and optioned RHP Josh Fields to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
