AMP AND ADRENALIN - This gelding hasn't won in his last three starts, but he did win on February 17th against better at 7 1/2 furlongs. In this race here, this magnificent animal has earned the highest speed rating at the distance, so I have to give him the edge. That last effort must not have been too hard on this gelding for him to be able to race again so quickly. Recent speed figures show solid pattern of improvement. MEGASTAR - Have to like this gelding today. If you take a look at his PP lines you see a definite pattern, getting closer with each and every race. Bridges and Marino perform well when they partner up. It's hard to beat a +99 ROI for a jock and handler. This horse picks up a lot of money per start. I believe he will add to the lifetime bankroll right here. This gelding is in good physical condition. Ended up first on April 5th. MIND THE MASTER - This gelding is back in a race very quick. This is a great angle - Sprinters that come back in less than 10 days after a race. A good sign of a sharp and ready racehorse. This gelding is at the same 7 1/2 furlongs distance he won at on Nov 8th, which was at a higher class level than today's race. This thoroughbred has recorded the best recent turf Equibase speed figure at the distance & surface.
Vulnerable Contenders: #5 I AM AWESOME (ML=2/1), #3 WARREN'S TYLER S. (ML=8/1), #9 CARR CREEK (ML=8/1),
I AM AWESOME - If this race shapes up right, all the early pace horses will force a ferocious pace battle early. Too bad this horse is one of those front runners. In any race of 7 1/2 furlongs, I like to bet on a contender that has been sharp in sprint affairs recently. WARREN'S TYLER S. - The speed rating in the last race doesn't fit very well in this event when I look at the class rating of today's event. Mark this animal as a likely underpriced contender. Have to be particularly concerned about the recent trend and awesome speed rating in the April 16th event. It was this gelding's top at that distance and this one should bounce today. CARR CREEK - Difficult to keep stabbing at this sort of 'bridesmaid' horse. Won't be easy for this horse to beat this field off of that last speed rating. Not probable to improve enough to run a figure close to today's Equibase class figure, so put him on the likely underlays list. Showed some physical problems last race out at Turf Paradise.
