In a way, it's like the idiotic Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem; people don't watch sports to get any political messages, and the same applies here, people don't go to plays to get any political commentary either. But at the same time, the lead actor in Hamilton is gay and HIV-positive, so if he's afraid for his livelihood when Prnce officially is VIP, he has a legit beef to get his message across somehow.
