So other info that I left out earlier. Only 2 eateries open in Harrahs...Fuddruckers and McCallisters. Valet service and the gym are closed.

Last night at GW Fins was one of the best meals I've had in quite some time. What an amazing place. And they've done a great job as far as configuration of the restaurant. My wife and I split a ribeye and some scallops with an amazing mushroom risotto on the side and some baked potatoes. Nothing short of amazing. Finished it up with a blueberry cake type dessert. I can't remember who recommended that in my previous thread, but much appreciated. It was one hell of a dinner. Pictures to follow when I get back.

They have other casinos around where you are with much lower limits

Chop,

Saw this a little late but I'll definitely hit you up on this on my next trip here, which is planned for late September. Out of curiosity, my wife and I were looking out the window (we have a river view) and noticed pools on the top of many of the buildings that I'm assuming are in the Warehouse District. Are these old warehouses just converted over to condos?

Those were probably Sonder properties. Converted to condos for rent.
The other casino is Boomtown on the westbank. Heard it was closed last time I was there but I used to go weekly when I lived downtown there.
The other is called like Gold Coast or something and it’s on Ponchartrain. Think that may be permanently closed but not sure. Neither are probably worth the effort to mess with when visiting down there.
Lower garden district/uptownish area is where we always stay. Several nice Airbnb’s and bed/bfasts to stay at.

I read that the mayor of New Orleans has banned "to go drinks" from bars and restaurants. That sucks. I was hoping to suck down some Hand Grenades this weekend. This move by the mayor will single-handedly finish off my restaurants and bars that have been shut down due to lockdowns. Fucking moron.

So my wife was going to be in charge of taking pictures of the dishes since I'm not typically into that. She started up on the scallops and I started laughing, reminding her she was supposed to take a picture. Then the picture of the rib eye, she left the fork in, lol. Anyway, here they are. GW Fins was awesome and I will definitely be back there!

Here's the sign at Harrahs as you enter the casino. All doors have guards stationed at them.

Some closing comments...

The New Orleans airport is brand spanking new and one of the features that was touted was the incredible restaurants they have. Unfortunately, most were closed due to the pandemic. We only rent cars right now as we don't necessarily want to trust an Uber/Lyft driver and the cleanliness of their cars. The rental car lot at the airport is a bit of a trek (about 15 to 20 minutes). We have rented cars twice since they opened the new airport and they are very disorganized. My recommendation is not to go for the least expensive at this airport (I typically find cars to be homogeneous and will typically go for the best price). If you do that at their rental car lot, you will probably be renting from Thrifty or Budget and are almost guaranteed to have a long line when you get there. I rented at Alamo which was about $7 more than these two and went right to the front this time. They will still disorganized after you brought your paperwork to the place giving out the cars, but I still think I saved about 30 minutes (last time the process took about an hour).

We flew Spirit this time (last time it was Frontier). Similar to the different casinos, many of the airlines' policies say "face covering". Because of that, you experience inconsistencies (or overzealous employees making their own rules). On the way there, I was required to put on a mask by the flight attendant. On the way back, the face shield was OK. On Frontier, the face shield was no problem either direction.

Keeping scores on the casinos (this includes my previous Vegas trip):

1) Harrahs New Orleans - requires mask but signage claims masks or face coverage (website says masks)

2) Venetian - Website says masks but face shields were acceptable when I was there 3 weeks ago

3) Red Rock - Website says face covering - face shields were acceptable with the exception of an overzealous dealer and pit boss at a Pai Gow table (their director of casino operations told me face shields are acceptable and the employee and pit boss were incorrect on insisting on it).

Back to Vegas in Early September and then off to Lake Tahoe (Both Zit and I will chime in on Tahoe and I'll give updates on any changes on the casinos I visit in Vegas).

I hope the information has been helpful.

Was Emerils open at the airport?

I didn't walk the entire airport and I know I didn't go past Emerils. But I honestly doubt it. There was like a Chick-Fil-A, a Chills to go, and a gift shop open on our side.
