I'm not sure what you define as "big deal" but the rate of those identifying as trans teens has skyrocketed over the last 10 years. Some percentage of these people will get on the hormonal blocker meds, some will pay for sex op changes/surgeries, many will fall into despair. Not going to end well.
"Live and let live" sounds nice but their level of dysfunction just won't allow that. There will be exorbitant costs to society obviously.

If an illness in society goes from .002% to 2% (and rising) in teens in the span of a decade, I don't think it is bad to atleast point out the deleterious effects that will come from it.
Although to be fair, none of us can really do much about it so whatever, but nothing wrong with being aware of how ascendant it is.
