Yes, I think Froome was just concentrating on making sure He didn't lose any time on the main competitors for the GC. Big story today is what's with last year's winner Nibali ? When interview shortly after race, He mumbled something about tomorrow's team time trial ! Really ? Seems like he was the only one that couldn't keep up on the final short climb and He lost 10 seconds ! Speaking of tomorrow, I expect that BMC will win the team time trial and thereby give the yellow Jersey to Van Garderen. then comes a rest day and off to the mountains ! The fun then begins ! In view of todays performance by Nibali, I'm thinking the race will come down to whether or not Froome stays healthy and stays away from any crashes. Contador is close but I doubt he gets the Giro and Tour De france double as few have ever been able to accomplish that. A crash by Froome and Van Garderen and Quintana will be in the hunt. GL

Well Today was pretty much a perfect day for me as Chris Froome only lost 1 second to the winning team of BMC. I knew I shouldn't have used the " Lock " word when I mentioned BMC as a 1 second victory was obviously NOT a lock ! LOL However the narrow victory allowed Chris Froome to not only retain his Yellow jersey as the race leader and He put a little time on all the main contenders except losing the 1 second to Tejay Van Garderen. Now comes a rest day tomorrow and then off to the Mountains ! GL I hope someone will post updated odds and I'll give my thoughts.
Sky as the holder of the yellow Jersey held the advantage of being the last off so they knew all along what time they had to beat. In view of yesterday's odds, I wish I'd be able to grab some of that 14/1 on TJ to protect my Froome wager in case He gets caught up in a crash. I hope you post some updated odds. I think the last time they went up against one another, BMC won by over 30 seconds so yes... an awesome performance by team Sky.

I like Froome's chances. William Hill here in Vegas has Froome at - 220. Any odds on stage 10 ? I expect Quintana to be very aggressive in Mountain stages to try and make up some time. Froome will be content to just ride his rear wheel as I've seen this happen so many times.
Love it ! Like I said, I've seen this happen so many times. Froome doesn't need to win any stage at this point. His entire strategy should be to NOT lose any time to any of the main GC contenders. I recall Lance winning the Tour without winning a single stage. The only way Froome will win a stage is IF He sees a weakness in one of the Main contenders especially Tejay who he leads by only 12 seconds.

“If I have to assess most of my rivals at the moment, Tejay [van Garderen] is on great form,” Froome said. “He’s only a few seconds back, and he’s ridden really well all week.”
The 2013 Tour winner also rattled through the others of the ‘Fab Four.’ He mentioned Nairo Quintana (Movistar) next, saying, “He’s lost a lot of time already, and that’s a big blow for him, but we do expect him to be there in the mountains. We’ll see to what extent.”
On Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo), he said, “One of the big questions is how fresh he will be after the Giro, what he’ll be like in the mountains.” And finally, Vincenzo Nibali (Astana), he said, “We’ll see how he climbs. He’s been fine this first week.
Froome, too, said the first week of the 2015 Tour couldn’t have gone better, especially when contrasted to his early exit in 2014.
“Given what happened last year, it was a big thing, especially mentally, that I have that attitude, that I wanted to race at the front, and get through the first part without any major issues,” Froome said. “Also, having the classics guys around me, G [Geraint Thomas], Ian [Stannard], and Luke [Rowe], those guys are specialists, that’s given me a lot of confidence, and it makes my job a lot easier.”
Soon enough, the Tour will turn out of the dangers of the hills of Northern France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, and climb into the Pyrénées and Alps. It’s clear that Froome will be keeping a very close eye on van Garderen.

One final thought. It is Bastille Day and no doubt there will be a breakaway early and it figures to be loaded with French Riders. Since Pinot is over 8 minutes behind in the GC, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go early. Also because He is so far behind, perhaps the main contenders for the GC will not be too worried about him and they will be more concentrating on the main GC contenders. Pinot is French and He can climb ! Perhaps a small wager on him at 20/1 might not be a bad wager. he's not in Quintana or Froome's class but give him a big lead and He might be hard to pull back. GL as tomorrow will be very interesting.
WOW !!! Chris Froome just blew away the field. They pretty much admited that they lied ! Pre race talk was that they wanted to be conservative in today first real Mountain stage. They call that conservative ? I'd hate to think of what they call aggresive ! Perhaps the main reason Froome attacked was because there was some obvious weakness by Contador, Nibali early on the last steep grade. However since this actually was probably the most ideal steep finish that caters to Froome's style, I think this was team Sky's plan from the start. They had me fooled as I thought Quintana would be the one to attack to try to make up some time. Now with almost a 3 minute lead in the Tour, I expect Froome to be conservative tomorrow. Of course what do I know ? LOL
