Great list, love all those movies. Pretty ballsy to admit in public that they are in your top five though. One or two of them maybe, but wow.

best balanced list I've seen so far...full metal jacket is disregarded because most don't see for what it really is and thats two movies in one.

I'll add:

Gangs of NY/There will be blood (Daniel Day Lewis slays all modern actors in these two films)
Sin City/crouching tiger hidden dragon (for art)
Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter (for the best reason why western thinking is not healthy)
Most movies with Humphrey Bogart, James Stewart, and James Cagney (these three guys are the only reason you need to watch movies from the first half of the 20th century).
them (lls)/high tension/audition: for those that like thriller/goosebumps

Just download or queue them up on your netflix. when the masters speaks you should pay attention and tail ;)

WOW VOR, most people our age don't appreciate the older actors like Bogart and Jimmy Stewart..

I give you mad props my man.. Hope you're having a good spring.

The Maltese Falcon
One of my absolute all time faves.
Biggest Oscar joke of all time is "How Green is my Valley" beat out both Citizen Kane and Maltese Falcon in 1941.
Are you kidding me?

Maltest Falcon was genius, directed by the great John Huston
Peter Lorre at his best.
Mary Astor was drop dead stunning.
Classic Bogey.

"It's six, two, and even he's playing you for a sucker"

Another one of my all time favorite Sam Spade lines.

"I hope they don't hang you, precious, by that sweet neck. Yes, angel, I'm gonna send you over. The chances are you'll get off with life. That means if you're a good girl, you'll be out in 20 years. I'll be waiting for you. If they hang you, I'll always remember you."

Worthy of consideration, that's fro sure C-Gold.....

I cried at the end when Tom Hanks died. It wasn't so much that he died, or how helpless he was just shooting off his pistol, but it's like fuck man... look at war...

I felt like he was such a good guy in that movie, that was a good leader, that was a good man, the kind of guy that society and America needs. He was such a good person and look, he died... for what? That's war... A good guy dying. It's a horrible horrible tragedy. Do you think he wanted to kill people and shoot and be shot at? Do you think he was a murderer? Do you think he was a bad guy? I'd argue that he was a true american hero and it breaks my heart that people like Tom Hanks in SPR had to die.

WW2 was an example of everything wrong with governments and their tyrannical leaders.

If that isn't a case for American style/Jeffersonian " The government should be scared of the people and not the other way around" limited government, then I don't know what is.

Do you really think WW2 beats a small limited government?... even anarchy???
