Southland Tales is one of the best movies. It's a mind fuck for sure though. The cheesy lines are there not because of poor directing... they are there because that is how the movie is supposed to feel. First movie written and directed by the guy since he did Donnie Darko. Definitely a mind fuck but very entertaining and has a shit ton of symbolism and meaning.

if you say so, it was just an incoherent mess of a film to me. I loved Donnie Darko so I wanted to love this but couldn't. It's not that the concept was lost on me, the dialogue the style I get was on purpose but to what purpose the story itself made no sense. It was trying so hard to be unique and different it seemed to have forgot the point of the story.

A movie so bad that it led the Carolco's bankruptcy and was the first sign of the end of Geena Davis' movie career and their marraige.

Sorry bro, I know you are a Bale Fanboy and all but I wont be swayed on this one. Terrible acting, terrible dialogue, it was like a Training Day sequel except instead of Denzel's terrible acting like in the first one it has Bale doing an even worse job of trying to appear street smart. I would honestly rather watched the Spanish dubbed Alf re-runs on nick at nite than watch that piece of doo again.

Great cast in those Police Academy movies, first one was my favorite but they had a decent run of it in the first three or for.
