Let's state the facts shall we? Tiger may be on the prowl again, but he isn't trying to win golf tournaments. He has other needs that must be attended too. He no longer has the mental focus necessary to win on any kind of regular basis and particularly not majors. If you can find a bet against him winning any tournament, take it everytime. His best game is far behind him now and there is a new generation in town.

Fact Tiger is the current fav. To win the 2012 Masters...

He must be feeling pretty good, he now has made commitment to firestone, PGA champ, and Aussie open which means he wants to play presidents cup with his buddy Fred Couples being the captain. He is also playing in Notah Begay's charity deal, plus fed ex playoffs events if he gets into top 125, even though he has barely played. That's a hell of a lot of golf for a guy that supposedly barely walk around on a golf course according to the medical staff at the RX Forum.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm getting a sneaky feeling Tiger has been practicing plenty in his two month layoff, wouldn't be suprised if the knee thing was overblown, truth is none of us know a Damn thing about Tiger so who knows. A lot of people in the golf business that are a hell of a lot smarter than Bill sure seem to think Tiger will be back, so I guess we will see.

RE, just for a friendly conversation.....if Tiger wins 19, does that put him #1 in your book? I have a couple guys in my club that feels the same as you, and they have no answer to that question except that "it was a different time in the profession". Just curious. Thanks mane.

yes If Tiger gets to 19 he definatly is #1 and I am a big Jack guy so thats saying something

His pace means he has a hell of a chance to break it.....other than that, it means nothing.

nobody argues with the feherty quote from yesterday though, so it must be true. "when he plays well, he wins." thats prob the best, most accurate statement i've ever heard regarding tiger

their is nothing to comment on Feherty, its just his opinion isn't it ? But that might have been the case pre 08 . when he plays well he wins, but until he does start winning again, ..................... Their is a great chance his best golf has already came and gone.

So maybe he was quitting after 9 at the Players ?

My thoughts exactly ! There's too many great golfers out there for Tiger or anyone to just step onto the
golf course and overcome all the obstacles that He will be facing. He very well might come back and win consistently again but I believe We will be given some signs before it happens. In the meantime, I will wager according to what I see and Tiger seems to be having plenty of issues right now. Golf is about mental toughness as well as physical ability.

Tiger should have entered Greenbrier. That was about the worst field that I've seen all year.

Yes it is an opinion. But its an opinion from somebody that knows a whole hell of a lot more about these guys then we do. Feherty is one of very few that really know tiger.

I can respect your opinion on tiger being #2 all time until and if he breaks jacks record. So far in his career he has done more than any other golfer has done at this point in their career.

For all the people that think tiger will never be back, this guy has won 90+ pro tournaments in 12 or so years. This isn't a David duval comeback or something. He could be competitive with half the field with 4 clubs. And as gamblers, we should all know what thrives the best athletes in the world, which is motivation. You think he is motivated after a 42 on the front 9 at sawgrass, or watching rory at congressional, or watching his buddy darren Clarke at British? I bet he is highly motivated

So if he fails, what will the excuse be this time? Is 'swing change' still in play? Perhaps the new caddie, 'rust', or he will simply start wincing around the green again? I still think that 'doctor issues' may be playing more of a role in this than the personal issues.

This ain't Kevin Costner as 'Tin Cup'where he finished the round with just a 7 iron.

i dnt know what his excuse will be. but if he fails and only wins 3 more majors or 0 majors before he dies, he will be #2 in my book all time. he has the second best all time wrapped up right now and he still has a career left, so we will see

To me its pretty cut and dry on #1 and #2. Jack dominated a era over HOF players like Watson, Trevino, Palmer, Ballesteros, Faldo, Norman, and Player. Hell even Crenshaw, Couples, Floyd, and Miller are alot better then most players today.....Tiger won his 14 majors in a down era and only Mickelson of his rivals is a HOF. Els damage came mostly before Tiger. Now if you want to get into this exchange of the players being better now, then, we have to downsize Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Walter Payton in the NFL and similar players in all sports. The problem with your argument with the players being better now then back when Jack was playing, is you have nothing to base it on. Hitting it 25 -40 yards farther off the tee because of better technology is not a good reason why the players in Jack's era aren't as good....or that they might be in better shape. The guys I mentioned above were mentally tough, winners, and wanted to win. I don't see that in the last 15 years outside of Tiger and occasionally Phil.

Like I said, we can argue this all day, neither of us will change our mind though. Personally, I think golf has evolved, look at the swings from now and back then. Plus like I already stated, golf is worldwide now so depth of the golfers playing is a million times greater, its not jack just beating up on a handful of guys that can compete when they play their best, its been tiger beating up on a world of guys that can sometimes compete when they play their best. Since you said I have nothing to base it on, that and the fact that many of the players from that generation that say tiger is better is what I base it on.

But no reason to argue, if he breaks the record he is the best ever in both our opinions and if he doesn't break the record he is not the best ever in our opinions, that's fair enough.
BTW, I like jack too so I'm not just rooting or downgrading jack. And I really like Crenshaw, I was lucky enough to meet him at a 9 hole golf course in Texas named Star Hollow one time.

Loved the fact that Lee Trevino interacted with the fans....those were the days....
Now you and I are on the same page ! The guy was great and even a bolt of lightning couldn't slow Trevino down !
