From what i've noticed, Asians, especially Chinese, flock together more than any other race. Even the blacks have white friends, but Asians swarm together up here like locusts. I had to stand outside the door for like 30 seconds as a group of 30 of them walked out of it. It wasn't some cultural night, they just hang out together in groups.

This is my experience for those Asian kids who hang out in herds. Parents own a liquor store, laundry mat, etc and work 7 days a week, 12 hour shifts. Kids, frost their hair, ear rings, pants size big enough to fit Andre the Giant and then some and smoke like a chimney. Also, they are fucken dumbasses (school and in life) and driving lexus's like they are on cribs.

I dont know why Asian parents do this shit. My parents tried to pull the same stunt with me and my lil bro when I was in HS .But I was like FUCK that. We'll earn this shit. So my bro and I worked our asses off and bought the most piece of shit caravan. But I tell you what, it felt good knowing that I worked for it and got it. Depends. Here (australia) it's probably about 50/50 that asians are normal vs stay with asians. In my experience asians who tend to stick just with other asians tend to be boring and childish. Asians with a good variety of friends are usually great.

Hey man, I think I fit into the group you just described above but just without the frosted hair and the gangster clothing styles since I'm 24 now and kind of grew out of it.

I think the reason I hang out with my asian friends alot is because we just share some interests/culture that are just not common to general U.S. culture. You know shit like reading mangas, chinese/korean pop, and to some extent asian sports (cricket, ping pong, badminton, etc). Also, depending on your group of friends some of us actually immigrated here when we're young or are first generation Americans so we share the same struggles with assimilating to american culture and dealing with our parent's traditions.

As for speaking chinese/korean in public, I know I was embarassed about it when I was younger but later I realize it was a good way to practice your native language outside of speaking with your family members. Also, language is one of those things that if you don't reinforce it everyday, your fluency will slowly digress. I have alot of friends that were embarassed to speak or write chinese in public and now they can't even read chinese anymore. Besides it can come in handy in your future endeavours.

Also one of the big reason why we flock in herds is because most of us are just not very confident about ourselves. Maybe its because we have small dicks but going in a group just makes some situations easier.
