Good for Dabo to win though. My good friend, best man at my wedding in 2020 Matt a former Bama LB who played for Shula Jr is close with Dabo as his Dad (Coach McMullin) a former Delta State LB standout who coached HS football in the gump (Montgomery, Ala), was Dabo's High school coach before he played WR at Bama. Got to meet Dabo and his brothers a while back, one of his brother is really messed up, other one was a state trooper and really a good salt of the earth guy so happy for them. Dabo will be the next coach at Bama most likely....been set up for a while as he's the favored son behind Saban...
I doubt either of those are true but I trust his former High school coach that Dabo most certainly would take the job if offered (he played for the Bear, got his degree there and all his family is from Bama and Montgomery!) and that Bama does have an interest in bringing their former "Son" back home after Saban is retired. Dont care to wager on something so silly, but I have heard this not only from Matt and his father, but the great Barry Krause (Goal-line stand/Sugar bowl 79 MVP) and many guys who are former players/big time boosters. Could be conjecture but they've been right almost every time they said something about comings and goings within the tide program. We shall see how it pans out, and maybe as early as this off-season if Saban wins the Natty as I said in yesterday's thread about the rumors being talked about.
My brother married into a family that is big boosters of Alabama. Their skybox was next to the one Donald Trump sat in when lsu and Alabama played a few years back. Secret service agents were actually in the suite. His wife was a gymnast there as was her sister. The gymnastics program at Alabama is one of the best in the nation. Many national championships. They own a beach house on the Alabama coast in a prestigious neighborhood. So does Paul junior. I have actually had the privilege of meeting him. I can’t stand Alabama as a Tennessee grad, but I hear a lot due to this relationship. Paul junior calls all the shots, and it’s a known thing to anyone that knows anything that Dabo isn’t the next in line nor is he even a consideration. That’s why he continues to downplay it nationally when given a chance to speak on the matter. The next coach will be from the Saban coaching tree. The torch will be passed much like bear passed it, with Ray Perkins getting the job and the staff and program staying in tact. Sark will be the first call, as the booster and program did everything they could possible do to keep him around. Any big booster or former player speaking of Dabo is clearly out of the loop.

thats all great and all but BARRY Krause is NOT out of the loop. He's the reason why the Bear won his last champ against Penn State. Like i said before, doesnt effect me any way what happens, as I am not a Bama grad, just a casual fan through at least 10-15 former players and still get box seats from Barry and others.

If he spoke of Dabo actually being next in line he’s totally out of the loop. Not sure you know him or understood him correctly. But I even posed the exact question of what will Alabama do when Saban quits just a few days ago at a family gathering. I even mentioned Dabo as well. Was told zero shot. Not even in consideration. Like I said, your family and who you know may think they're important. Barry is friggin ALABAMA HALL OF FAME, national champ star,, he's ALABAMA Royalty and everyone knows him as "Goal line stand" and is trotted out every year for ceremonies. Has any box seat he wants in the stadium, and gives plenty away to the Univ, along with his former playing buddies. they def said he's on the short list, may not be the confirmed hire as no one knows the future but he will be interviewed prob in the top 2-3. and yes, Dabo WANTS the job, heard that from his old HS coach who speaks with him weekly. Doesnt impact my life either way, day to day.

I never said I dressed for the bowl, I traveled but had a torn Acromian Bone at the shoulder Growth plate, so I was unable to play, then tore my ACL the following year so hung it up and tried to focus on baseball before further ruining my shoulder/was going to be clayton mccullough's backup (now Dodgers 1st base coach) before i realized my right arm was completely jacked. Being 4th string also wasn't as important behind several future pro's.
