Bolivia goes for upset

BOLIVIA VS. PERU

Quarterfinals
Kick-off: Thursday, 7:30 p.m. ET
Line: Bolivia +325, Peru -105, Tie +220, Total: 2.5

Surprise second-place finishers Bolivia and Peru will square off in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Although Bolivia lost 5-0 in its last game of the group stage against Chile, its four points were enough to finish in second place. The country will look to advance into the semifinals of the Copa América for the first time since it won the tournament in 1997.

The majority of its squad plays in the domestic league, including captain and defensive leader Ronald Raldes. He will need to guide his team to a better defensive performance than the one it put on against Chile if his country is to defeat a tricky opponent.

Peru finished ahead of World Cup quarterfinalists Colombia in a difficult Group C. Only a heartbreaking, last-minute loss against Brazil in the group opener kept Peru from finishing unbeaten, and the 2011 third-place finishers are surely full of confidence at the moment.

Like Bolivia, most of Peru’s squad plays in the domestic league, but it has proven quality up front in the likes of Paolo Guerrero, Claudio Pizarro, and Jefferson Farfán, all of whom have had success in major European leagues. While neither defense is spectacular, this game could see both opponents feeling each other out and playing it safe, and under 2.5 goals scored looks likely. Ultimately, Peru’s talented forwards should prove to be the difference, and a 1-0 or 2-0 win could be the outcome in this interesting affair.

2015 NBA Draft Props

The 2015 NBA Draft takes place on Thursday June 25 and the Minnesota Timberwolves are on the clock with the first pick.

The Wolves have never owned the top overall pick and most pundits believe the team will go big with their selection.

According to the majority of reports, Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns and Duke’s Jahil Okafor are going to be taken by Minnesota.

Odds to be 2015 NBA Draft 1st Overall Pick

Karl-Anthony Towns 1/6
Jahlil Okafor 5/2
Field (Any Other Player) 25/1
Kristaps Porzingis 25/1
D’Angelo Russell 30/1

How to read the Odds:
Ex. - Bet $100 on Karl-Anthony Towns (1/6) to win $16
Ex. - Bet $100 on Jahlil Okafor (5/2) to win $250

NBA Draft: A look at each team's needs
By THE SPORTS XCHANGE

The NBA Draft figures to be a big occasion -- at least for the first two picks.

The Minnesota Timberwolves hold the No. 1 overall selection, and the Los Angeles Lakers pick second, and their choices are expected to Kentucky power forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns and Duke center Jahlil Okafor -- in some order.

A look at how the draft is likely to shake out for all 30 teams, according to The Sports Xchange's national network of NBA writers:

BOSTON CELTICS

--2015 draft picks: 16th, 28th, 33rd, 45th

--Draft needs: The Celtics, who might well be wheeling and dealing with four picks in the top 45, are looking for a rim protector as well as help at both forward spots. They have cap flexibility and all kinds of future picks, so Draft Night figures to be interesting. The team seems set at the guard spot so think 6-8 or taller. Possible targets could include 6-foot-9 Wisconsin forward Sam Dekker, 6-foot-11 Arkansas forward Bobby Portis, 6-foot-10 Kentucky forward Trey Lyles or taller.

BROOKLYN NETS

--2015 draft picks: 29th, 41st

--Draft needs: The Nets realistically can't be choosers with the 29th pick (their No. 15 pick was swapped with Atlanta as part of the Joe Johnson deal), so they basically have to be lucky to get someone to drop down, perhaps someone recovering from an injury that no one else wants to touch. They would probably like to take a big man with their pick, with Syracuse 6-foot-10 power forward Chris McCullough a possibility. McCullough was thought to be a possible lottery selection, but he tore his ACL and watched his draft stock plummet. The Nets also showed some interest in Oregon point guard Joseph Young, but he sprained an ankle at an Indiana Pacers workout and missed most of his appointments.

NEW YORK KNICKS

--2015 draft picks: 4th

--Draft needs: Knicks president Phil Jackson is committed to running his successful triangle offense. New York worked out D'Angelo Russell, the best playmaker/passer in the draft, who would be ideal in the triangle. However, the combo guard out of Ohio State might not be available at No. 4. If Russell is off the board, the Knicks can look to another guard, Emmanuel Mudiay, the draft's most unknown commodity having played in China last year. Mudiay also could fit in the triangle, and his explosiveness to the basket would give New York something it lacked the past few seasons from the backcourt.

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

--2015 draft picks: 3rd, 37th, 47th, 58th, 60th

--Draft needs: General manager Sam Hinkie is notoriously secretive about his intentions, and the roster is of D-League quality, meaning the Sixers could go in any direction. Suffice it to say they will select the best player available at No. 3 overall -- and should, despite the recent setback C Joel Embiid sustained in his recovery from foot surgery. That could mean taking G D'Angelo Russell, G Emmanuel Mudiay, C Jahlil Okafor or even F Kristaps Porzingis.

TORONTO RAPTORS

--2015 draft pick: 20th

--Draft needs: Arizona swingman Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, a monster on defense but offensively limited, and Notre Dame point guard Jerian Grant were headliners at the Raptors' first predraft workout. Georgia State shooting guard R.J. Hunter is another possibility. All figure to be taken about where the Raptors will pick. It is hard to assess who would be the better fit for a team that has needs but not one specific, glaring one. Toronto is known for drafting long-term future prospects, and having acquired a D-League team this offseason, it might do so again.

CHICAGO BULLS

--2015 draft picks: 22nd

--Draft needs: With only one selection in the draft, the Bulls likely will make a safe pick rather than target a high-risk, high-reward prospect. Virginia guard Justin Anderson could be a perfect fit. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound swingman offers positional flexibility and is reliable on defense -- perfect attributes to strengthen the Bulls' rotational depth. Arizona forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (6-7, 220) is a great fit for similar reasons. If the Bulls bypass a wing player, they could add a point guard to back up Derrick Rose. Two options at the point include Notre Dame's Jerian Grant and Utah's Delon Wright.

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

--2015 draft picks: 24th, 53rd

--Draft needs: The Cavaliers' biggest day of the season used to be draft day, but no more. After winning the lottery three of the past four years, the Cavs enter this summer in the enviable position of not having to rely on the draft following the return of LeBron James and their march to the NBA Finals. In fact, whomever they take at No. 24 is no lock to make the rotation next season -- or even the team for that matter. While they could use an upgrade at backup point guard, that likely will come through free agency. For the second straight year, the Cavs could wind up packaging this pick in a July trade after sending Andrew Wiggins to the Minnesota Timberwolves last summer for Kevin Love. Any trade this summer, however, won't come close to reaching that magnitude.

DETROIT PISTONS

--2015 draft picks: 8th, 38th

--Draft needs: The acquisition of power forward Ersan Ilyasova from the Milwaukee Bucks on June 11 increases the likelihood that the Pistons will draft a small forward with their lottery pick. Ilyasova gives coach and president of basketball operations Stan Van Gundy the stretch-4 that he coveted, allowing him to concentrate on the team's gaping hole at the other forward spot. Mario Hezonja, Justise Winslow, Sam Dekker and Stanley Johnson are the top candidates. The latter trio all came in for workouts, while Van Gundy made a postseason trip to Europe to see Hezonja up close. Sharpshooting guard Devin Booker and defensive-minded center Willie Cauley-Stein are long-shot possibilities. The Pistons also could trade down and pick up an additional assets while still snagging one of their forward targets.

INDIANA PACERS

--2015 draft picks: 11th, 43rd

--Draft needs: Look for the Pacers to draft a mobile big man and a point guard to complement veteran George Hill. Team president Larry Bird said the Pacers are looking to go with a smaller lineup, which would indicate a big man who can play in the middle and yet be more mobile than veteran center Roy Hibbert and able to guard pick-and-rolls. The other issue centers on the fact that Hill currently is the only point guard under contract. Bird said there is no plan to bring back point guard C.J. Watson, and there is a chance they also will not retain Donald Sloan. The Pacers appear to like Wisconsin big man Frank Kaminsky, Texas center Myles Turner and Murray State point guard Cameron Payne, a left-hander who fractured the ring finger on his right hand during a June 15 workout with the Denver Nuggets.

MILWAUKEE BUCKS

--2015 draft picks: 17th, 46th

--Draft needs: Despite their surprising turnaround last season, the Bucks are still in rebuilding mode, so don't look for them to be picky when their name is called. Shooting and rebounding were two of the Bucks' biggest weaknesses last season, so look for general manager John Hammond to address those needs first. UCLA forward -- and Milwaukee native -- Kevon Looney impressed at a recent workout, and many think the 6-foot-9 forward will still be on the board when Milwaukee makes its first pick and would fit in with the length and athleticism already on the roster. He is young, though, and would be a bit of a project. The Bucks don't have a lot of open roster space, making them likely to use their second-round pick on a European draft-and-follow prospect.

ATLANTA HAWKS

--2015 draft picks: 15th, 50th, 59th

--Draft needs: With an uncertain free agency period ahead, versatility will be key with the Hawks' first-round pick. Forwards DeMarre Carroll and Paul Millsap are free agents. Their future is up in the air. Both very well may return, but a versatile small forward capable of stretching the floor and defending multiple positions certainly would provide insurance. The Hawks' executives insisted publicly that they will go the "best player available" route instead of drafting for need. Wisconsin forward Sam Dekker, Kentucky guard Devin Booker, Notre Dame guard Jerian Grant, Kentucky forward Trey Lyles, Kansas forward Kelly Oubre and Arkansas forward Bobby Portis are options.

CHARLOTTE HORNETS

--2015 draft picks: 9th, 39th

--Draft needs: The conventional wisdom is that the Hornets will take a shooting guard, perhaps Kentucky's Devin Booker or Arizona's Stanley Johnson or Croatia's Mario Hezonja, depending on how the draft shakes down. It is likely that at least two of those three will be available at No. 9. However, general manager Rich Cho insists that he is keeping all his options open and will take the best player available. He also talked about the possibility of trading up or down. The Hornets could junk the shooting guard mentality quickly if Kentucky center Willie Cauley-Stein drops far enough. The Hornets selected power forwards with their first-round picks in each of the past two drafts, so that probably is the one position they would steer clear of.

MIAMI HEAT

--2015 draft picks: 10th, 40th

--Draft needs: With three impending or potential free agents on the perimeter, the Heat would be wise to build their depth in that area. Among the potential targets with the 10th pick are 6-foot-6 forward Stanley Johnson of Arizona, 6-6 shooting guard Devin Booker of Kentucky, 6-9 forward Sam Dekker of Wisconsin, 6-7 forward Kelly Oubre of Kansas and 6-6 forward Justin Anderson of Virginia. Options with the 40th pick could include 6-9 power forward Rakeem Christmas of Syracuse. However, don't rule out 6-5 wing Pat Connaughton of Notre Dame -- the Heat are in dire need of 3-point shooters. Miami finished 24th in the NBA in 3-point shooting, and the top 10 teams in that category made the playoffs.

ORLANDO MAGIC

--2015 draft picks: 5th, 51st

--Draft needs: The Magic would love to trade up and add either Kentucky's Karl-Anthony Towns or Duke's Jahlil Okafor -- who would fit the best -- but it is unlikely to happen, and both are likely to be gone before they pick at No. 5. They fawned over the all-around skills of one likely pick, power forward Kristaps Porzingis (7 feet, Sevilla). However, he will require time to mature physically, and this already is a very young team. If Porzingis is gone, they may turn to Kentucky's Willie Cauley-Stein, another center who could become an elite NBA defender, or they might go with small forward Justise Winslow from Duke.

WASHINGTON WIZARDS

--2015 draft picks: 19th, 49th

--Draft needs: The Wizards can consider the "best player available" path, especially if forward Paul Pierce decides he will spend another season in Washington. The playoff series loss to the Atlanta Hawks confirmed the need for a stretch-4-type big man. Arkansas' Bobby Portis and UCLA's Kevon Looney are the likely candidates at No. 19. If the Wizards decide to replicate the Golden State Warriors' plan of using waves of wings and guards, Georgia State's R.J. Hunter, Virginia's Justin Anderson and Notre Dame's Jerian Grant make sense.

DALLAS MAVERICKS

--2015 draft picks: 21st, 52nd

--Draft needs: With just three key players -- shooting guard Monta Ellis, small forward Chandler Parsons and power forward Dirk Nowitzki -- signed for the 2015-16 season, the Mavericks will enter the summer in desperate need of point guards and centers. History says they will have a better chance finding the former than the latter late in the first round of the draft. A new little guy would land a favorable position, as he would have very small shoes to fill. He would be replacing banished point guard Rajon Rondo, whose in-season addition to the club turned out to be a complete disaster.

HOUSTON ROCKETS

--2015 draft picks: 18th, 32nd

--Draft needs: As James Harden wore down under the inordinate weight of being both the Rockets' leading scorer and primary facilitator, the need for a playmaking guard crystallized. Even if the Rockets re-sign Patrick Beverley, he might be better served coming off the bench, where his manic defense is a greater asset. While the Rockets sorely need a point guard (Jerian Grant?) capable of scoring and relieving pressure off Harden, their options at No. 18 might be so severely limited that selecting the best available player could be the lone, wisest option.

MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES

--2015 draft picks: 25th

--Draft needs: Judging by the Grizzlies' predraft workouts, the team has not dialed in on one particular strategy. Part of that is Memphis' draft position; it is difficult to know what will be available at No. 25. The general consensus is that the Grizzlies' greatest need -- dependable 3-point shooting -- can't be addressed with this pick. The team seems to like the athletic Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, a 6-foot-7 forward from Arizona, but most mock drafts don't have him lasting until No. 25. Utah point guard Delon Wright is a possibility, especially with Beno Udrih coming off ankle surgery and starter Mike Conley potentially gone as a free agent after next season. A big man is also in play. If center Marc Gasol re-signs with Memphis, even short-term, backup center Kosta Koufos certainly will go elsewhere in search of more playing time.

NEW ORLEANS PELICANS

--2015 draft pick: 56th

--Draft needs: As the Golden State Warriors celebrated their NBA championship with a locker room champagne shower, Warriors assistant Alvin Gentry -- the Pelicans' new head coach -- gazed at the Larry O'Brien trophy and then shouted into the camera: "Hey, A.D., we're going to be right back here!" In homage to All-Star power forward Anthony Davis' athleticism, rare ability to run the court and expanded shooting range, Gentry will build an up-tempo offense. However, because of the Omer Asik deal, in which the Pelicans surrendered a 2015 first-round pick, they don't draft until No. 56. The Pelicans need an athletic small forward with shooting range to help space the floor, but they would have to trade assets to move into the first round.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS

--2015 draft picks: 26th, 55th

--Draft needs: When you have a roster as deep and accomplished as San Antonio's, the term "needs" hardly applies. Sure, the Spurs would like to get younger at several positions, particularly at the extremes of the height spectrum. But are the Spurs likely to find a future replacement for power forward Tim Duncan or point guard Tony Parker there with the 26th pick? Not likely. However, tapping the foreign market once again in search of the next Manu Ginobili is at least somewhat realistic and would add much-needed athleticism to the age-challenged roster.

DENVER NUGGETS

--2015 draft picks: 7th, 57th

--Draft needs: The Nuggets have several holes to fill. The only true center is Jusuf Nurkic, who is coming off an up-and-down rookie season and is recovering from left knee surgery. Denver needs to bolster its backcourt, too. Backup point guard Jameer Nelson is expected to opt out of his contract, and it is no given that starter Ty Lawson will be around at training camp; the Nuggets are shopping him as well as power forward Kenneth Faried, but so far there are no takers. The hiring of Michael Malone as coach just 10 days before the draft leaves wide open what direction the team will take in the draft and in free agency.

MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES

--2015 draft picks: 1st, 31st, 36th

--Draft needs: Early steam had the Timberwolves favoring Duke center Jahlil Okafor, but the latest buzz has Minnesota focusing on Kentucky big man Karl-Anthony Towns, who visited with team brass Friday and Saturday. President of basketball operations and head coach Flip Saunders is also intrigued by Ohio State combo guard D'Angelo Russell, but with Ricky Rubio entering the first year of a four-year, $55 million contract and with plenty of long-term uncertainty down low, it would be shocking if Towns weren't the first overall pick Thursday. With a pair of picks early in the second round, don't be surprised if Saunders tries to find a way back into the middle of the first round to select Duke guard Tyus Jones. Saunders has been enamored with Jones, a Minnesota native, since watching him play in high school.

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER

--2015 draft picks: 14th, 48th

--Draft needs: Picking at No. 14 in the first round is a blessing and a curse for the Thunder. While they can grab a lottery selection, the choice is too low find a game-changer. Even so, they could find a player who can help the franchise. Kentucky forward Trey Lyles, Georgia State guard R.J. Hunter, Kentucky guard Devin Booker and Murray State point guard Cameron Payne have been highlighted as possible targets. A long shot is Wisconsin forward Frank Kaminsky. They don't think the college player of the year will still be around at No. 14, but if he is, it could make for an interesting selection by a team in need of more low-post scoring.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS

--2015 draft picks: 23rd

--Draft needs: Everything is fluid until the situation with Portland's free agents (forward LaMarcus Aldridge, shooting guard Wesley Matthews and center Robin Lopez in particular) is taken care of. If there is a position at which the Blazers know they can use help, it might be small forward, where only starter Nicolas Batum returns for sure. If Arizona's Rondae Hollis-Jefferson were still available at No. 23, he would be a likely target. If not, Virginia's Justin Anderson would fill the bill.

UTAH JAZZ

--2015 draft picks: 12th, 42nd, 54th

--Draft needs: While Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert are solid starters on the frontline for Utah, the team needs big-man depth. A stretch-4-type player would be ideal for coach Quin Snyder's spread-out system. The Jazz also are in need of more offensive threats from the perimeter. That seemingly puts them in a decent position with the No. 12 pick, as there will likely be multiple wings and power forwards available that late in the lottery. Don't rule out a draft-day trade, which general manager Dennis Lindsey said he would do if it can help the team get one step closer to ending a rebuilding project and beginning a new era of playoff appearances.

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

--2015 draft pick: 30th

--Draft needs: While many analysts are focused on the Warriors' apparent need for a shooting guard off the bench, they forget the biggest reason the club won the 2015 championship: defense. With power forward David Lee reportedly having played his last game with the club, what the Warriors really need is another Draymond Green -- a polished collegian from a winning program who is big, versatile and smart. Another Draymond Green with the last pick of the first round? Well, sure. After all, the Warriors got the former Michigan State standout five picks later -- No. 35 overall -- in 2012.

LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS

--2015 draft picks: None

--Draft needs: The Clippers would have to be very creative to get back into the draft, being that they already traded away their first-rounder to Boston to bring in coach Doc Rivers. That said, they could use a second-rounder or two to add depth to arguably the weakest bench crew among elite teams.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS

--2015 draft picks: 2nd, 27th, 34th

--Draft needs: With guard Kobe Bryant and forward Julius Randle onboard, the Lakers don't have needs at two positions. The other three -- and their bench -- remain wide open. The Lakers reportedly are focused on one of the two standout big men in the draft -- Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns and Duke center Jahlil Okafor -- and with good reason. Both would complement Bryant well -- Towns in the pick-and-roll game on the offensive end, and Okafor as the defensive anchor in the middle. Too bad they can't have them both. No doubt, the Lakers will go shopping for a point guard at No. 27 or No. 34 ... or perhaps both.

PHOENIX SUNS

--2015 draft picks: 13th, 44th

--Draft needs: While their guards are still a work in progress, the Suns are in need of a power/stretch forward to replace the shooting threat lost when Channing Frye left last summer. Markieff Morris was ill-equipped to handle the position and is seen as a sixth man -- or less if the felony assault charge he faces with twin brother Marcus is proven in court. Texas' Myles Turner was brought in for an unannounced workout Wednesday, and he fits the mold of what the Suns are looking for. His defense mobility is questioned and he is inconsistent, but he is 19 and does two things the Suns love -- he blocks shots and shoots lights out. Phoenix's last two No. 13 overall picks -- Markieff Morris and Kendall Marshall -- weren't what the doctor ordered.

SACRAMENTO KINGS

--2015 draft picks: 6th

--Draft needs: The Kings would benefit from having a big man to complement center DeMarcus Cousins, who led the team in scoring, rebounding, and blocks last season while often facing double teams on defense. That person could be out there in 21-year-old Kentucky center Willie Cauley-Stein, a 7-foot, 242-pounder who can block shots and might ease Cousins' load just by his presence alone. History shows that coach George Karl prefers two point guards, and 19-year-old Emmanuel Mudiay might be a target if he remains available at No. 6.

2015 NBA Draft Odds & Expert Betting Picks
by Alan Matthews

Of the four drafts in the major American sports leagues, the NBA's is my favorite. Major League Baseball's and the NHL's are full of guys I've generally never heard of and may never again. Those are total crapshoots. The NFL's is a ratings bonanza for the NFL, but I get rather tired of Mel Kiper and Co. by Day 3 and you never see major player trades during that draft.

The NBA is a different story. You pretty much have to have a superstar to win a title in that league, and you almost always are only going to get one in the draft. There's an occasional star who switches teams via free agency (LeBron James) or trade (James Harden), but for the most part you have to "grow" your own guy. Plus, we should see plenty of wheeling and dealing at Thursday night's draft at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, shown on ESPN. Some names you hear might be available: Denver's Ty Lawson (pretty much everyone on the Nuggets really), Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins, Chicago's Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson, Minnesota's Anthony Bennett (a bust but the No. 1 overall pick just two years ago), Brooklyn's Joe Johnson and Deron Williams, Indiana's Roy Hibbert (if he exercises his player option), Detroit's Brandon Jennings, Phoenix's Eric Bledsoe and Golden State's David Lee among many more.

Here are some draft night props and my thoughts.

Who Will Be No. 1 Overall Pick?

This apparently is a done deal and will be Kentucky big man Karl-Anthony Towns to Minnesota, adding yet another really nice young piece to a team that could be very good in a couple of years. All the media out of Minnesota are saying this it he pick, and it makes sense because the Wolves were terrible on defense last year and Towns can slot right into the power forward spot and make a difference on that end immediately. Towns apparently is a great kid with an equally good worth ethic and seems genuinely excited about playing in Minnesota. So no surprise he's the -1200 favorite. The only other guy up for debate was Duke big man Jahlil Okafor (+800).

Who Will Be No. 2 Overall Pick?

This also looks like a done deal -- Okafor is the -800 favorite. The Lakers would prefer Towns (+1000) but won't have that option. Okafor should be a great low-post offensive threat from Day 1 -- assuming Kobe Bryant passes him the ball -- but needs to work on rebounding and defense. But he'll be a better scorer than Towns likely ever will be. I should mention the Lakers are trying to pry Cousins out of Sacramento and certainly would have to give up this pick to do so (among other things). But it will be Okafor.

Who Will Be Drafted First: Russell Vs. Porzingis?

It's Ohio State guard D'Angelo Russell (-400) vs. Latvian forward Kristaps Porzingis (+300), who some believe has the most upside in the draft but also really raw (and thin) and not ready to contribute next season. The 76ers hold the No. 3 spot and they need guards in the worst way, especially after trading off Michael Carter-Williams this past season. You hear talk that unpredictable GM Sam Hinkie might take Porzingis, but how can he take another big man with Nerlens Noel, Joel Embiid and Dario Saric already in the fold? True, Embiid might miss a second straight season because of foot troubles an Saric won't come over from Europe until at least the 2016-17 season. But you can't ask Sixers fans to wait on another major project. Russell can help next year. Some say he's the next Harden. That Russell goes No. 3 is -260 and not +180. Flip-flop those numbers for Porzingis. I say Russell does go third to Philly.

Who Will Be Drafted First? Mudiay vs. Winslow

It's prep star point guard Emmanuel Mudiay (+110), who played in China instead of at SMU this past season, against Duke freshman swingman Justise Winslow (-140), whose stock skyrocketed in the NCAA Tournament. Winslow has an "over/under" draft spot of 5.5 while Mudiay is at 6. The Knicks pick fourth. They could use a point guard so Mudiay would fit but some wonder if he is suited for the triangle offense. Would Phil Jackson instead go with Porzingis? I don't see any mock drafts where Winslow is the pick. The Magic, at No. 5, don't need Mudiay or Winslow because they are set at their positions. I'm taking Mudiay first here, landing in New York, and under 5.5, with Winslow going seventh to Denver.

Will The Raptors Make A Draft-Day Trade?

This sportsbook is based in Canada, so that's why this prop. No is -200 and yes +150. Raptors GM Masai Ujuri is definitely not gun-shy about shaking things up and recently said: "We're open for business." Toronto has flopped in the first round of the playoffs the past two seasons. The Raptors hold only the No. 20 pick and Ujuri has said he would like to get a second-rounder. I don't see Ujuri trading off his current roster Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan or Jonas Valanciunas but everyone else likely could be had. Backup point guard Greivis Vasquez himself has said Houston and Minnesota are interested in him. How about some deal for the Wolves' Anthony Bennett? He is Canadian. I say Toronto does make a moderate deal on Thursday.

See spot. See spot bet: This week's best spot bet opportunities
By BEN BURNS

Spot bets are classic handicapping practices that have proven profitable no matter what sport you're betting. Whether it's a team looking past this week's opponent, one coming off a hard-fought victory, or a rough patch of schedule, bettors can find value picking their spots. Ben Burns points out his favorites:

Schedule spot

With the Pan Am Games taking place in Toronto this July, the CFL’s Argonauts and MLB’s Blue Jays will be bumped from their home inside the Rogers Centre. The Jays play 16 of their 25 July games away from home and the Argos open the 2015 campaign with five straight away from Toronto, including what is unofficially a home game in the books this coming week.

Toronto opens the schedule versus the Edmonton Eskimos in Fort McMurray, Alberta – an oil boom town in northern Canada, which is only about four hours from Edmonton. Needless to say, the “home” team won’t have many friendly fans in the stands at SMS Equipment Stadium Saturday night. Books have pegged the Argos as 4.5-point “home” underdogs.

Lookahead spot

Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer has the baseball world eagerly awaiting his next start. The right hander has put together one of the most impressive stints on the mound in recent years, allowing a single hit in his last 18 innings of work including a near-perfect game in his last trip to the mound versus the Pirates last Saturday. Scherzer has struck out 26 batters and walked just one in that span.

While it hasn’t been officially announced, as of Tuesday afternoon, Scherzer is expected to make his next start against the Philadelphia Phillies this Friday. That puts Washington in a tough spot in its series finale with the Braves Thursday, anxious awaiting to see how Scherzer performs the following day. The media circus will be insane as we get closer to that start, so the Nats could get caught looking past Atlanta this week.

Letdown spot

One of the biggest NFL offseason splashes was the Philadelphia Eagles’ signing of free agent running back DeMarco Murray, who led the league in rushing as a member of the rival Dallas Cowboys last season. The Cowboys didn’t show Murray the money he wanted and the Oklahoma product bolted Big D, putting a big circle around their Week 2 matchup on the calendar.

The Cowboys will no doubt be out to prove that Murray’s 2014 production was more to do with their stellar offensive line, and that heated NFC East rivalry game in Philadelphia sets Dallas up for a massive letdown the following week. The Cowboys host Atlanta in Week 3 and, win or lose against the Eagles, that intensity will be tough to match versus the Falcons as early 5.5-point favorites.

# 1 MUSIC MOGUL 6/1

# 5 TRICKY ARTIST 10/1

TROUNCE will not be denied the ultimate prize today. Exhibits the look of a profitable play, averaging a rather good 75 speed rating. Had one of the finest TrackMaster speed figs of the race in his last affair. I'd recommend using in your bets. MUSIC MOGUL - Chances are greatly enhanced for entrants coming from the 1 hole at Monticello Raceway. It's a bit risky to consider solely based on class, but this gelding has among the finest class numbers of the pack. TRICKY ARTIST - Might be there at a favorable price tag. Most definitely one to keep in your exotics.

# 2 TURNER SEELSTER 3/1

Feel pretty confident putting some profits down on STATURE SEELSTER. He's battling in good form, recording very promising TrackMaster SRs. An excellent choice. BROWN DIRT COWBOY - The trainer/horse combo stats point out that this combination are solid in the money finishers when working with one another. This trainer, and the driver Filion, go together like gin and tonic. Their results together are excellent. TURNER SEELSTER - Composite pace figures say this affair should shape up nicely for this gelding. Looking for a big effort. Overall statistics look competitive. Can't throw him out of the picture.

# 2 ATREVETE 2/1

# 1 GRAN VENCEDOR 4/1

# 6 SOONER THAN LATER 5/1

ATREVETE has a formidable shot to take this race. Should definitely be given a chance in this contest if only for the very strong speed figure recorded in the last race. Has garnered strong Equibase speed figs in dirt sprint races in the past. Recent figs for the jockey - 25 win percent - make this gelding stand out in this field. GRAN VENCEDOR - Has to be carefully examined versus this field displaying solid figs lately and an average Equibase Speed Figure of 70 under similar conditions. Rosario should be able to get this gelding to break out early in this contest. SOONER THAN LATER - Players should take a good look at this one as this gelding has one of the best win percentages at this distance in this field. Could best this group based on the speed figure - 74 - of his last affair.

# 2 YAH YAH SIR 3/1

# 1 MR. JAZZY CAT 5/1

# 11 BRALIN'S GRACE 8/1

YAH YAH SIR looks to be a very good contender. A solid 65 avg class rating may give this colt a distinct class edge against this field. Has to be carefully examined versus this group of horses in this race displaying respectable figs recently and an average speed fig of 55 under similar conditions. Canchari has been hot the last month, winning at a nifty 21 percent clip. MR. JAZZY CAT - Make a note that this horse runs with second time Lasix today. BRALIN'S GRACE - He looks respectable in this slot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the halfway point.

#6 THIRD CUP O COFFEE (ML=3/1)

THIRD CUP O COFFEE - This is the only real presser in the race. When Bocachica and Nagle join forces on horses the winning percentage has been fantastic at 50. I like this gelding. Has the uppermost earnings per race in this contest.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 SAN GENNARO (ML=5/2), #8 FLYING AGAIN (ML=9/2), #5 UPTOWN INDY (ML=6/1),

SAN GENNARO - This horse hasn't been on the track since May 28th. Not even any morning drills. FLYING AGAIN - This horse hasn't been near the winner at the wire recently. UPTOWN INDY - Tough to play at 6/1 odds after the last two showings.

#5 JUDGE CARR (ML=6/1)
#4 SWITCHING TO GLIDE (ML=6/1)
#6 DR. FRED (ML=8/1)

JUDGE CARR - This jockey and conditioner have a terrific winning percent when they join forces. This is the only real pace presser in the race. SWITCHING TO GLIDE - I am keen on that most recent contest on Jun 3rd at Penn National where he ran first. This horse has shown the ability to win at multiple tracks. Making the move from Penn National for today's event, I have to believe he's ready to run. DR. FRED - Have to make this gelding a contender; he comes off a strong outing on Jun 15th. This gelding should be in fine form, this far into his form cycle. Multiple wins in this horse's life, all at Presque Isle Downs. Could add another win in this field.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 CHOCTAW WON (ML=5/2), #7 GIMME A DOUBLE (ML=3/1), #1 PORTER CENTRAL (ML=7/2),

CHOCTAW WON - Mediocre speed figure in the last race at Presque Isle Downs at 5 1/2 furlongs. Don't believe this runner will improve too much in today's event. GIMME A DOUBLE - I cannot play this repeated non-winner. Gets the task done from time to time. PORTER CENTRAL - Tough to play any mount like this that didn't land in the top three after the long layoff and comes right back.

#2 PRIMA STORM is the overall speed and pace profile leader in this maiden field sprinting at 6.0 furlongs on the grass, and has produced "POWER RUN PERFORMANCES" in each of his last five outings, hitting the board in four, missing a "Diploma-Earning/Circle Trip" in his last start by less than a length, in a determined attempt to break his maiden. He's out of the Stormy Atlantic lineage, whose progeny have hit the board in 41% of nearly 15,000.00 combined lifetime starts to date, and in an equally impressive 40% of more than 1,800 combined juvenile starts to date. #4 STEVIE'S WONDER takes a BIG class drop (-20), and comes off a "POWER RUN SHOW" finish facing substantially better company in his last start.

MLB Preview: Reds (33-37) at Pirates (40-31)

Game: 3
Venue: PNC Park
Date: June 25, 2015 7:05 PM EDT

It started with A.J. Burnett allowing a career-high hit total. And now Gerrit Cole has in one start surrendered as many earned runs as he had in his previous six.

The pace the Pittsburgh pitching staff established in the middle of the month bordered on unbelievable, but the pendulum has swung the other way in the last week.

The Pirates are back to Burnett's turn in the rotation Thursday night against the Cincinnati Reds, who are seeking their first win in a road series since taking two of three in Pittsburgh from May 5-7.

Cincinnati (33-37) evened the series with Wednesday's 5-2 win after tagging Cole for all its runs. For the Pirates (40-31), it amounts to four losses in five games with a 9.97 ERA out of the starters. On the preceding eight-game win streak, their mark was 0.80.

The lineup, however, has done nothing to cover for them with 2.4 runs per game and a .187 average over the last five.

The Reds have won five of seven and eight of 10 against the Pirates, but they're 5-15 on the road dating to a loss in the last game of their May series at PNC Park. That came in a matchup between Burnett and Anthony DeSclafani, who will again oppose each other.

The 14 hits Burnett (6-3, 2.05 ERA) allowed in Friday's 4-1 loss at Washington marked new territory and resulted in four runs - three earned - in 6 2-3 innings. The right-hander is 0-2 with a 1.59 ERA in his last three starts, mostly because he's received one run of support in that span of 22 2-3 innings.

To manager Clint Hurdle, it was a performance that showed the veteran can keep Pittsburgh in games even without his best stuff.

"I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher go into the seventh giving up double-digit hits like that," Hurdle told MLB's official website. "And have the game still in hand. It wasn't his 'A' stuff. But his will to compete got things done and kept us in the ballgame."

He returns home to a 2-2 record and 1.27 ERA in six starts at PNC Park, which is tied with Scott Kazmir for the top home ERA in the majors. One of the wins came against Cincinnati, improving Burnett to 7-3 with a 2.31 ERA in his last 12 against the Reds.

Jay Bruce's recent hot streak could end if he's in the lineup. The right fielder is 14 for 30 with seven extra-base hits in seven games, but he's 3 for 31 with 11 strikeouts against Burnett.

DeSclafani (5-5, 3.48) suffered his first defeat in six starts in Saturday's 5-0 home loss to Miami. The right-hander allowed three runs and four hits with three walks and hit a batter in five innings. In his previous five outings, he had a 2.48 walks-per-nine-innings mark, but this was more reminiscent of the 4.20 mark he had over his first eight.

"I have to do a better job," DeSclafani said.

His best stuff has come on the road with a 3-2 record, 2.58 ERA and .189 opponent batting average in seven starts compared to 2-3 with 4.58 and .298 marks in seven at home.

The 25-year-old is 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA in two starts against Pittsburgh. Pedro Alvarez (3 for 6 with a home run) and Gregory Polanco (3 for 5) have hit DeSclafani well, but Josh Harrison and Starling Marte are a combined 0 for 9.

Cincinnati's Brandon Phillips missed Wednesday's game because of a jammed left thumb sustained the previous night. Phillips had surgery on the same thumb last season.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Marco Estrada lost his bid for a perfect game in the eighth inning, but Chris Colabello hit a solo home run in the 12th inning to lift the Toronto Blue Jays to a 1-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.

Colabello took a 1-1 pitch from Rays reliever Brandon Gomes (1-3) to right-center field that ended an exciting battle between pitching staffs that included another strong outing from Blue Jays right-hander Estrada.

Estrada cruised through the first six innings and then needed a couple of nice defensive plays from left fielder Joey Bautista and third baseman Josh Donaldson to keep the perfect game alive before Logan Forsythe ran out an infield chopper to third in the bottom of the eighth for the Rays' first hit.

Estrada went 8 2/3 innings and struck out 10 on a career-high 129 pitches (87 strikes). According to Elias Sports Bureau, the 31-year-old Estrada became the first pitcher to take a no-hitter into the eighth inning in consecutive starts since Dave Stieb did it with Toronto in 1988. Estrada also no-hit the Baltimore Orioles through seven innings in a 5-4 win on June 19 before leaving after giving up a leadoff single in the eighth.

Yankees 10, Phillies 2

NEW YORK -- Ivan Nova pitched effectively into the seventh inning in his first start in over 14 months as New York rolled over Philadelphia.

Returning from Tommy John surgery, Nova (1-0) allowed three hits in 6 2/3 innings. He only recorded one strikeout but issued two walks and let his defense make plays for him. Nova threw 51 of 92 pitches for strikes and rarely encountered trouble.

Nova had plenty of support in his return as the Yankees collected five runs and eight hits off Phillies' left-hander Cole Hamels (5-6). Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Jose Pirela drove in two runs apiece for the Yankees.

Twins 6, White Sox 1

MINNEAPOLIS -- Shane Robinson and Brian Dozier each had two hits and Phil Hughes tossed eight strong innings as Minnesota took the rubber match of a three-game series with Chicago.

The outing was the second straight start in which Hughes (6-6) pitched eight innings and gave up one run, and it was his fourth consecutive quality start. The lone damage allowed by Hughes was a solo home run by Adam LaRoche, who led off the second inning with a blast over the right field wall for his ninth homer.

The Twins spoiled White Sox left-hander Chris Sale's bid for history. He was attempting to become the first pitcher to strike out at least 12 batters in six consecutive games but came up two short with 10. Sale (6-4) took the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits and a walk over 6 2/3 innings.

Indians 8, Tigers 2

CLEVELAND -- Carlos Carrasco pitched eight strong innings and Francisco Lindor hit his first major league home run as Cleveland beat Detroit.

The Indians salvaged the third game of the series with the Tigers behind the right-handed Carrasco (9-6), who gave up two runs on five hits and one walk, striking out seven.

Right-hander Buck Farmer (0-2) took the loss after being recalled from Triple-A Toledo to start in place of right-hander Justin Verlander, who was scratched due to a sore back.

Angels 2, Astros 1 (13 innings)

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Taylor Featherston's RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 13th inning lifted Los Angeles to a win over Houston at Angel Stadium.

Featherston's hit off Astros reliever Chad Qualls helped the Angels take two of three in the series from the American League West-leading Astros.

Though it was Featherstone who was doused in celebratory Gatorade after the game, the Angels bullpen deserved much of the credit for the win. Trevor Gott, Joe Smith, Huston Street, Fernando Salas and Jose Alvarez (2-1) combined to throw seven scoreless innings in relief of starter Andrew Heaney.

Cardinals 6, Marlins 1

MIAMI -- Jason Heyward homered for the third straight game, leading St. Louis to a win over Miami at Marlins Park.

The Cardinals, who have the best record in baseball at 47-24, also got a two-run homer from Kolten Wong in the third inning. That gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead over Miami that the Cardinals never relinquished.

Wong's homer, which went off the facing of the upper deck, and Heyward's shot, which came in the seventh inning, were hit off Marlins starter Mat Latos (2-5). Both Wong and Heyward are left-handed hitters who pulled their pitches to right field.

Red Sox 5, Orioles 1

BOSTON -- David Ortiz hit a two-run homer during Boston's five-run, sixth-inning rally, and Clay Buchholz struck out seven as the Red Sox beat Baltimore.

Mookie Betts had an RBI single in the sixth and extended his hitting streak to 11 straight games for the Red Sox, who ended a six-game skid against the American League East rival Orioles.

Buchholz (5-6) struggled through the first two innings, then settled down and went seven innings to win his second consecutive start. The Red Sox improved to 4-8 against the Orioles, whose six-game winning streak over Boston was Baltimore's longest in a single season since 1961.

Reds 5, Pirates 2

PITTSBURGH -- Cincinnati scored four runs before Pittsburgh picked up its bats, and the Reds coasted to victory at PNC Park.

Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead Cincinnati's 12-hit attack. The Reds scored all five of their runs with two outs.

Cincinnati improved to 6-2 against the Pirates in 2015, the Reds' best win total against any club.

Nationals 2, Braves 1 (11 innings)

WASHINGTON -- Ian Desmond drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly to left field with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning off reliever David Aardsma as Washington beat Atlanta. The liner was the second out of the inning and scored Bryce Harper, who doubled for his second hit of the game.

The winning pitcher was Felipe Rivero (1-0), who threw a scoreless 11th for his first major league win. Dan Eveland (0-1) took the loss after giving up the double to Harper.

The first-place Nationals won their fifth game in a row and the third-place Braves fell to 16-22 on the road. Washington has won seven in a row over Atlanta and is 5-1 in extra-inning games in 2015.

Brewers 4, Mets 1

MILWAUKEE -- Scooter Gennett homered, Adam Lind hit an RBI double and Jimmy Nelson allowed only two hits over eight innings as Milwaukee beat New York at Miller Park.

Nelson's eight-inning effort tied his career high, set earlier this season against the Tigers. Nelson (4-8) threw 102 pitches and walked just one batter while recording five strikeouts.

Right-hander Francisco Rodriguez took over in the ninth and worked around a two-out double by Ruben Tejada to earn his 15th save in as many chances this season.

A's 8, Rangers 2

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Brett Lawrie drilled a grand slam in the first inning and the streaking Athletics never looked back in a victory over Texas.

Oakland has won eight of its last 10 games and looks to sweep Texas in the finale of the three-game series Thursday at Globe Life Park. The A's are 19-11 since May 22.

Lawrie's third career bases-loaded homer -- his first with the A's -- highlighted a five-run first inning that effectively buried the Rangers. He finished with three hits.

Dodgers 5, Cubs 2

CHICAGO -- Adrian Gonzalez and Justin Turner homered early and Los Angeles snapped a two-game losing streak with a victory over Chicago.

The Dodgers never trailed after a second-inning solo homer from Gonzalez and padded the lead in the third with Turner's three-run shot.

Los Angeles left-hander J.P. Howell (3-1) picked up the win after relieving starter Mike Bolsinger, who lasted just 4 2/3 innings. Five Dodgers relievers combined to shut out the Cubs.

Giants 6, Padres 0

SAN FRANCISCO -- Buster Posey belted a grand slam, and Ryan Vogelsong threw six scoreless innings, leading San Francisco to a shutout victory over San Diego.

The Giants, who recorded just their second win in their past 12 home games, remain one game behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.

Posey's grand slam, his second of the season, highlighted a five-run third inning that opened the game's scoring and provided Vogelsong and three Giants relievers all the offensive support they would need.

Royals 8, Mariners 2

SEATTLE -- Kansas City bounced back from a complete-game shutout to shell Seattle.

Kansas City used a seven-run fourth inning to jump out to a big lead in left-handed starter Danny Duffy's first game off the disabled list. Duffy only allowed one earned run over 4 2/3 innings but wasn't part of the decision.

Reliever Ryan Madson (1-1) earned the win after pitching 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Diamondbacks 8, Rockies 7

DENVER -- Arizona rallied for three runs in the ninth, capped by pinch hitter Aaron Hill's sacrifice fly, to beat Colorado.

Arizona gift-wrapped a four-run fifth when Colorado went ahead 7-5. However, Rockies closer John Axford, who converted each of his previous 12 save opportunities this season, was unable to hold a two-run lead in the ninth.

Brad Ziegler earned his 11th save and preserved the win for Daniel Hudson (2-2), who worked the eighth.

Mariners call up OF Gutierrez, demote OF Jones
By THE SPORTS XCHANGE

The Seattle Mariners called up veteran outfielder Franklin Gutierrez from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday and sent down outfielder James Jones.

Gutierrez, 32, was set to start in left field against the Kansas City Royals and hit second in the lineup Wednesday. It was his first game since Sept. 27, 2013.

Injuries previously had derailed his once-promising career.

Gutierrez hit .283 with 18 homers and 73 RBIs in 2009 and won a Gold Glove while playing center field in 2010, but then he missed 313 games from 2011 to 2013 with various ailments (hamstring, chest, head, stomach).

He sat out the 2014 season after being diagnosed with an arthritic condition known as ankylosing spondylitis. At his home in Miami, he created a treatment plan that enabled him to manage the pain and resume his career.

Gutierrez was batting .317 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs with the Rainiers and had a 20-game hitting streak snapped this week.

Jones, 26, played in seven games with the Mariners after being recalled from Tacoma on June 15. He was 0-for-8 with a stolen base.

In 48 games with Tacoma, he is hitting .264 with one home run, four triples, 13 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.

The Sports Xchange Jun 24, 2015

The Pittsburgh Pirates promoted right-hander Chris Volstad from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday and placed utility player Corey Hart on the 15-day disabled list.

Volstad, 28, returns to the majors for the first time since 2013, when he put up a 10.80 ERA in six games with the Colorado Rockies.

In parts of six seasons with the Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs and Rockies, Volstad is 35-51 with a 4.94 ERA.

In 14 games (12 starts) for Indianapolis this season, he has gone 5-2 with a 3.43 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 76 innings.

Hart, 33, has been dealing with a left shoulder impingement. He is hitting .222 with two home runs.
