Great thread guys, keep it going. I didn't bet them but my strategy today would be take every dog on the board and get the best # you can find. Even in the late games I think it will be profitable. Lots of square money out there today.

I'm no puck expert but I made a play on the Kings tonight against my Tampa boys. LA is beat up and has nothing to play for but the Bolts are having health problems themselves. Other than the long ago injury to their best dman (Cullimore), Khabby has the flu, and Boyle (a key player for us as he's the only Dman with any offensive side to him) probably won't play either. Even with Khabbi in net if he starts and the fact the Bolts do very well of late against LA I see this one going against the hometown guys. The schedule has been brutal of late, they played at home against LA (a 4-2 win) then flew up to Buffalo for a back to back against the Sabres and Monreal on the 14th/15th. From there they flew back home for one game against Minnesota on the 17th and now fly out to the west coast for this game. Team just seems to be due for some sluggish play. I'm taking a flyer here and taking the +.5 goal with LA and laying the best number I can find, win or lose watch the Bolts on this road trip. I think there will be some value in going against them and their recent celebrity status (

) in the next few games.

No expert boys just wanted to throw it in the pile. Keep up the good work.

Oh also, though my NBA finals prediction remains Detroit/San Antonio I think Dallas is the play here tonight. There are 3's out there now. I took much the worst of it on this play but hanging with my original ticket and rebought it at the lower price. I'm not one for polish middles....

I like Raiders play on Detroit -2.5 as well.

Good story Dicky, my experiences have been similar. In 25 years Senior McIrish (God rest his soul) as a small book never had a losing season in the NFL. We also had a couple of people who were sharper than the other players (even back then) who would call and ask us who we needed before they bet. They didn't always bet all of our needs but it was always tough to beat those guys it seemed. A wise player knows he needs as much info as he can, you can't win in this game unless you understand there is much to learn. I've never see a Mr Know It All win. Thanks for the posts Dicky, I along with others here probably need some help in order to win.

For the record our hold on straight action was very average but on parlays and teasers it was between 10% and 20% every year. Not telling anyone never to bet one, just giving out facts. I don't advise anyone to play the pari-mutuals at 25% juice either but some can beat the game, I can only wish I was so talented. BTW there can be a big difference in how many tickets you write on a game and where the money is. You may write 10-1 action on Duke but be in good shape overall.

Just my .02 cents, keep the change.....

Dicky, Dime, Intruder, Irish- thanks for the book info and stories. Guys can learn more from that then they can from us players.

Bolivar- The totals are my plays. Each person is putting down what he is playing. Sometimes we agree , sometimes not. I add up all the plays at the end of each night. Dicky provides book info plus his picks. Dime and Intruder provide book info.

also see what i mean bout numbers?? ... uconn .... for some a winner some a loss some a push.....

No doubt. I have a buddy that plays a lot of plays, has only one out. I can't get him to understand the value in adding a couple of more outs. "It's only a point or so difference...."

I agree with Dime, nothing is more important than getting the best number - NOTHING. Well maybe than getting paid if you win.......

Raiders - thanks for the props but I am no book. Hell I like to hear what these guys say myself. Our yearly action back in the day was less than these guys probably take in one busy week-end in the fall. LOL. I agree with you though, nice to hear from them. Makes this the best daily thread on the forum for players IMO.

I also use to book very small time years ago for between 4 and 7 guys. It was unreal how guys would tie one team into every parlay and teaser. Once in a while they would hit. Most of the time they wouldn't. I had a 20 cent line for baseball. That was the norm back then. I can't remember anyone having a 10 cent line.
