Auburn has a good O-line and lots of depth at running back, they'll be able to move the ball on the ground. Unless USC has a GREAT secondary they won't be able to stack the box. They have to respect AU's passing game because Auburn has talent at WR and the QB. The QB has more experience this year and does not have the pressure of losing his job, therefore he should be more relaxed and play better.

Also, I'm not familiar with the heat or humidity in LA, but I know that it will be hot and players from both teams are going to be fatigued, so depth at D line should play a factor, not just talent of the starting four.

One really big thing to consider in this game. KICKING. Auburn does not have a proven punter or place kicker. Unless someone steps up big, this is going to be a big problem for AU all year. They have several talented freshman coming in, but the guys who kicked in the spring didn't do much to instill confidence in the kicking game. Just keep that in mind, especially in a game that could go either way.

I think both teams are really talented. I feel that AU's running game will wear the Trojans down and the USC quarterback will be forced into some mistakes. Auburn pulls away at the end to win by 7-10, but hey, I'm a AU fan, so I am a little biased. Anyway, just some info to consider. Good luck whichever way you go

Olympic has posted a number on the much-anticipated Auburn/Southern Cal game.

It is a pick-'em.

I didn't bet it, but I took a gambit on K St -26.5 vs. Cal, as it looks like the number will continue to climb.

man, i have to go with usc. too good of system. coach has just got a grasp on this team and has his own players. watch out for usc. wasn't palmer that impressed me last year, it was the system (like couch at kentucky). i see usc as a great contender. don't see auburn there. sorry. its been hot everywhere. my post really talks about later part of september when the south still hits 90's. if it is a pick'em or auburn plus anything load the house on usc. auburn doesn't even close to having the staff of usc. not enough money. and that is what ultimately wins games. just my opinion. hell i could be wrong. this is "gambling isn't it" lol.

Carson Palmer looked lot better than he was because of personell around him and Norm Chow. Carson will be a horrible pro, just like salsbury.

Scott,

If you are a manger for the team I would getthe**** off of a gambling site. I can promise you one thing that is a LOCK, if you are a manager and someone from admin at USC sees these posts and finds out who you are, you will no longer be a manager.LOCK

wunderdog,

USC is a private school, they are family owned and operated. Everything stays in the family, they dont answer to ncaa or anybody else, and they hire within. No ambitous presidents will ever be hired at University of Southern California.

Hey Scott4USC,
You probably know my in-law if you're the manager---Defensive coach Ed O_ _ _ _ _ ? Tell him his in-law from the south says hello.
Good luck to USC, but you will have your hands full at Auburn.

Finally pulled the trigger.

In the last few days Auburn has gone from a pick'em to a 3-point favorite. It might go down again, but it also might keep going up. Even a half-point more could make a difference in a game decided by a field goal. So I've placed my first wager for the 2003 season:

7* Auburn -3

Write-up with reasoning will be posted on game week with other plays.

I'm looking ahead another week. Oly has Miami an 11-point favorite against Florida. Any thoughts on that game?

slvrgbln i wanted to say i agree with you. USC coachign staff is unbelievable and USC does have a great system.

As for the poster who said Lieneart sucks, well he has secured the #1 QB spot and has been impressive this fall camp. He has stepped up his game and has been pretty solid for the most part. He is not Carson Palmer but USC upgraded everywhere on offense so he just needs to get the ball into the playmakers hands. Believe me, USC has many playmakers on offense.

NYREB, I Like Miami Against LA tech, I would wait on the Florida Game. A lot of key guys are banged up for Miami right now, don't think they will need them against La Tech, but to cover 11 against Florida they may. Most of them are hamstring pulls and such, but I would hold off and see.(best WR,LB and punt returner will most likly be out against LA tech.

LaTech will be fired up at home, they have a fairly good team, and Miami will play very vanilla. I'm thinking it could be closer than the public will perceive it to be.

Glad I'm already down for Auburn -3. The line at Oly has already gone up to -4.

Here's another game I'd like to get some discussion on: Georgia is currently a 3.5 favorite over Clemson. Actually, Pinnacle has them as a 3 point favorite. We all know about Georgia's new OL, but do you also know that their starting cornerbacks are out against Clemson, who, BTW, is at home. You know how Clemson loves to throw the ball. I'm thinking this has the potential to be a major upset. Any comments?

I must admit I havent watched PINN too closely on NCAA games, but that line tells the story. There is usually at least one early upset (I dont really even consider them upsets b/c a lot of the voters for rankings are none too bright) and this one may be it. I havent looked too closely at it yet, but hopefully this line climbs (GA/CLEM). I read that GA may have some suspensions early this season. I'm sure someone from SEC land can fill us in. This game deserves a separate thread!! It gets more publicity that way, I'll start it.

The LA Tech/Miami is not at La Tech, I think it is being played where they play the independence bowl. Certainly an advantage to La Tech, but in my eyes not nearly as strong as home field.

USF can't be classified as an improving team. They are replacing their QB, which may be impossible but will definitly be tough. They took some key losses in other positions as well. Leavitt just signed a big extension so they atmosphere will be good. This is their first year in CUSA. Alabama could present some value due to the offseason problems. They also are putting in a very basic offensive scheme under Mike Shula so the learning curve could be reduced. They simply have the better athletes over my Bulls right now and are probably receiving some line relief due to public preception of their problems.
