It would of been 3rd & 8 with 1:10 left on that Johnson TD if they kneeled and SJSU used their timeout. Another kneel couldn't kill the clock and the field goal puts them up 13 (still 2 possessions).

So, why didn't they call timeout after any of the downs? Based on your logic, why did he walk off the field with Timeout in his pocket.

I am not saying that they ran it up, but with a 1:15 left and and SJSU not even using their timeout you knew the game was over.

However, you do make the valid point that the game was less than 17 point difference, so you have to play it out. My rule of thumb is 17 points, because that takes at least 3 scores to tie or beat you.

Sometimes they wait to use it when they have to, usually on 3rd down. Boise St. never got to a 3rd down that drive. If they use it on 1st down and they keep moving the ball and picking up first downs, you waste it.

There's no spot there that would make sense for me to use my last time out. If they take a knee and make it 3rd and 8 with 1:11 left, I certaintly use it! Yea I end the game with it in my pocket but that timeout don't matter a damn if I can't stop the other team.
