Everyone I talked to this weekend in Vegas had a shitty weekend too. I think I was the only one on ASU in the book.

Like many, I watched this play many times and can understand difference of opinions. This was a contact foul that IMO could be argued either way ( I go 52-48 with the charge call).

Floyd goes off way past the close call and actually had to be forcibly removed (first time I can remember a D1 coach requiring off-court help to enforce the ejection). I'm not sure that Floyd ever argues the logistics of the call but instead goes nuts on his own perception of how the refs made the call (I didn't see the game and don't know the backlog to his anger). We have all watched coaches control themselves and their team over perceived bad calls and I hope Floyd gets the chance to learn the art form.

ref calls are an issue in every sport. In hoops, the toughest calls are those foul calls, in particular charge calls when a defender hasn't set their feet. you see people get leveled & no foul call, then you see ticky tack touch fouls. Its a mess.

I don't think there is a solution. the action moves very fast on the court & these guys have to make spot judgement calls. Maybe some kind of booth review like football would help? replay does reduce the error factor of refs, but even then there are issues, like in the superbowl when warners "fumble" at the end was not reviewed.

i think bad calls are a part of the game, nothing can be done.
how about letting the ref with the obvious view make the call....

Easiest gig going IMO.........NCAA basketball official. Doesnt matter what you do for your "real job." Hell, you dont even have to "fix" a game.....you just have to call a really really tight game with a lot of free throws & bet the over. Have a beard go drop $10-20 K on it at different places each game you do it......do this 8-10 times over a 4.5 month long season and you got yourself a nice little bonus check!
exactly!!!

WRONG.

Arizona St. had the game firmly in hand up 6 with under a minute to go.

It was a horrible call for sure. But he didnt cost USC the game. He cost you your cover.

Hell, if I were you I would blame Floyd just as much as the ref. Ref's make bad calls. Officiating is much harder than it looks. Anyone that has ever done it would tell you that.

But Floyd going off like that was the big shame here IMO.
wait a second...up 6.. the layup goes in and makes the free throw..bam 3 point game with just under a minute to go..how is that in hand?...ps...i didn't bet the game...just watched in horror that this ref got away making that call from his angle....

I was drunk last night in Vegas, but after watching this replay at home I have a new perspective...

1) That play could have gone either way. J-Mic's feet were moving no doubt, but the USC player was out of control on that play.

2) How many times did Tim Floyd bump a ref? The saliva was exploding as well. What a douche of a coach.

3) I usually always try to look at things from the other perspective, but this one is obvious. All you degenerate's who had USC last night just to go all in to save your ass? Nice pick with the USC +7.5.

Good point.

But I will say this...

A ranked team. Playing at home. Up 6 points with under a minute left?

I bet they win 95% plus straight up in that situation.

I would say game was in hand. A lock? No. But in hand. YES!

was a block in all 50 states. David Hall very bad. Hartnell always in these situations. PAc 10 refs are horrible.

Put it in slow motion? Probably.

At full speed? Thats a tough one to call. Especially if you are on the floor. The action right in front of your face and you are expected to make the call right away?

Dont even tell me you have officiated and it is easy...

Sorry you lost your bet. It was probably much more money than I won I my DEVILS.

Tim Floyd attacked him tonight. He has messed up 10 games in 3 years that I have seen

Who doesn't he attack? Floyd is a whiny bitch and he rubs off on Hackett and Gibson. Those three complain more than most NBA players.

It was a bad call granted, but Floyd complains on every play. I'm sure Pac-10 officials hate him and his big mouth.
