How in the hell do those kernals magically turn into fluffy pieces of popcorn???

We used to take the powdered cheese from boxes of macaroni and cheese and mix that with the popcorn. Good stuff

Question for Fish or Jeff

1) how often do you have to replace the little paper/foil disk at the bottom?

2) does the appliance still work without those?

3) where do you buy replacements? Mine only came with eight and it will be impossible to find replacements in Hawaii.
