I don't think that way at all...even Red Eye throws a few bucks on Tiger for hedging purposes...I just don't think Tiger gets the respect of what he has done for the game of golf....even Jack says Tiger has a game of which Jack himself is unfamilar with...(and we all know that Jack is being modest) Me, I could care less what Tiger does in his personal life, just have to admire his golfing ability...there are tons of golfing stories out there about the old timers and what they did during their time on the tour...they were no saints...
The tees and pin placements make it really tough....these guys are pros....they would have killed this course that the members play during the week...
Tiger hasn't deserved to win any of the last 20 majors, by the way, remember when he would play like crap and still finish 4th or 5th. Phil sure didn't deserve to win either, one or two lipouts sucks, 10 lipouts means your missing.
when you finish in the top five of any Major, you have played well....Tiger definitely deserved to win this year's Masters...really unlucky to hit the flagstick and roll into the pond....but that's the rub of the green....
every US Open course gets a US Open setup..most pros would do a helluva lot better on every single course that doesn't get the US Open setup. Marion isn't excluded
I agree. Somebody here the other day was saying that is how the course is always played and they have shot 76 there. While I am sure it's a hard course year round, they did make changes for the tourn and they did speed up the greens. I'm sure whoever it was did shoot a 76 on a regular week but Id be really suprised if there was a poster here that could shoot 76 On any of the 4 days there this week. A lot of the players did not like the set up cause it was so manipulated with pin positions etc....zach Johnson was prob the most critical of that. And he likes harder courses
I think the obsession is still there, but the longer he goes without a major win, the less he shows it. The confidence he had years ago is no longer there and that's more because everyone else has become much better and he just isn't as dominant anymore because of it. He i still the best player on tour, but the distance between him and the others is dwindling every year...
You think those wicker baskets helped or hurt the players?
I agree, he has not been the best over last couple years but with what he has done this year it's obvious the physical part of his game is back and I think right now he has to be considered the best on tour at this time. But until he gets the mental aspect of his game fine tuned he will never get back to where he was. But he will never be the dominant player he once was even if he got the level of his game back to where it was years ago because the competition now is much greater. And I agree golf needs players like Rory to step up to continue to be as popular as it is.He certainly wasn't the best the past few yrs , surely u agree?
Agree with everything else u said . The most shocking for me were his collapses while in contention on the weekend in last yrs majors- totally out of character . Mental breakdown from one of the games' strongest minds. He's 40th on tour in driving distance - ouch . These kids can out bomb him. But if he can win one major soon, the belief may litter back then look out Jack. Foolish Rory left Titliest, the kid with the marvelous swing , an enormous talent and one to take the battalion from the balding , aging Woods has been MIA. The game needs Rory .

Westwood had the bad break, but overall I don't think it was a big deal other than I think it would be weird to not be able to see the wind blowing the flags. I don't know that it would be weird, just think it may be a little different. I would imagine the caddies had something on every hole where they could get the wind.......I thought they looked cool as hell though.
I know he hasnt won a major (still 2 left this year btw) but if 4 wins out of 10 tourn entered this year is not dominating golf, what is the def of dominating golf?
