The Wings lost a top 4 dman for the rest of the game and they will now be undoubtedly more tired for playing that entire period short handed.

No reason for not being upset.

strange how they poured it on NEAR THE END of that period, eh?

:)

maybe they will be tired for the 3rd? cause all that penalty killing?

It was a terrible call, 5 minutes and a game for a good clean hit. It flies in the face of all the "the reffing is rigged" paranoia, since the NHL loves the Red Wings.

Wonder how you guys would feel if this had happened to a key player of the Wings. I guess I know the answer since you already complain about almost every call against your team.

I felt the same about Brown's hit on Hudler. No way that deserved a suspension, and that hit was actually a tad late.

At least Hudler wasn't done for the night. Oh well, let's hope for some good clean hits in game #4.

Yeah because 11 minutes of 5 on 4 wont tire you out:wierdo:

played competitve hockey all my life, still play in a mens league. I coach in the GTHL.

in my experience killing penalties does not signficantly 'tire' a team out. Again, much of pp time the players are in a defensive set up (as per coach's preference), and much of the time the pp is played in one side of the rink---- your 'excessive energy exerted' is hyperbole .This factor will have a more significant effect on European size ice rinks.

the 11 minutes of penalty killing time wasnt the factor why Detroit lost. In fact, they dominated late in the second period (one wouldn't expect this with your theory for them to be 'tired'). In addition, the 3rd period was classic tight hockey, jam the neutral zone--by no means did Chicago skate over a 'tired' team. Keep in mind Chicago is a young team. FATIGUE WAS NOT A FACTOR for the Red Wings.

what is your experince in the game? were you a penalty killign specialist at MSU? coach? is this why you hold to your opinion?

Wow you coached the GTHL, great. I've played, coached, and officiated too, and that's how I always start out my paragraphs, just to tell people how much expertise I have.:103631605 It makes me sound more important.

I never said it was the reason why Detroit lost, but it does tire your best skaters out when they have to pull double shifts and cover more ice with 4 skaters. It also messes up line rotations.

oh, they didn't lose cause your 'best skaters' :) were tired? then why you so concerned about it? :) . They wont be necessarily more tired, that's the point i'm trying to make-- it's an exageration, especially when your flipping them every minute and on N American sized ice rinks--this game certainly didn't help your argument

Actually, all those penalty's mess up the line rotation and keeping your players in the game more than anything... Since not everybody kills penalty's the guys who sit for an extended period of time get out of the flow of the game...

These are finely tuned athletes that should be in peak shape so the fatigue argument in my mind takes a back seat to the keeping your team in the flow of the game...

I have played, coached, and officiated my whole life and I do have a clue...

agreed.

MSUspartans also mentioned that, note I didn't disagree with him

I disagreed with the opinion (stated earlier in this thread) that significant fatigue will occur to a team that is penalized moreso than the opposition-- -- that less energy is necessarily used by the players on the pp.

note that line disruption also occurs for the OTHER team during a period of significant penalty time differential

Will say that if you are chasing the puck more than you posses it you will get more fatigued "mentally"...

If you've never played the game.....you'll never understand that. You know that and 95% of people understand that. This clown will "NEVER" get it. Cause he's never played the game.
