We used to catch that other wrestling league on the satellite in Kazakhstan it was so much more fun that WWF. Anybody remember this poor guy?

On February 8, 1992, Kerry Von Erich was arrested for attempting to falsify drug prescriptions. He was released on bond and went to rehab. One year later, Kerry was indicted on a cocaine possession charge and was in the process of being given a jail sentence. On February 18, 1993, the day after his indictment, Kerry Von Erich took his own life and died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. He was 33 years old.

Sadly, Kerry was the third of the Von Erich brothers to commit suicide, with brothers Mike and Chris taking their own lives before him. He was also the fourth of the five brothers to pass away, leaving Kevin as the surviving member. Although his life ended in tragedy, Kerry Von Erich, The Modern Day Warrior, will always be remembered for the tremendous ability he possessed.

Sad tragic tale of the Von Erich family, lots of accidents and tragic deaths befell on them. Truly an interesting, if tragic, story of what happened to the Von Erich brothers. The Texas Tornado was the leader, but they truly owned Dallas in the mid-80s.

Being from Wisconsin, I always like Crusher Lisowski, who is from Milwaukee. The TV announcer used to say he trained by carrying a quarter barrell on his shoulders and running on the shores of Lake Michigan. Crusher's biggest pest was Bobby Heenan, who later got busted with dope on an airplane. Then there was the Vachon brothers--the Mad Dog and the Butcher. I think their nephew, Rogie (sp?) Vachon was a goalie for the L.A. Kings. The Mad Dog didn't have any front teeth, was about 5-7 and weighed 240 or 250. Butcher was a big SOB. They had a color announcer named Marty O'Neill who would do interviews whenever they were going to wrestle in Oshkosh or Sheboygan or Green Bay. O'Neill, who was about 60 or so, would wear sunglasses, which has my group wondering if he was wanted by the law somewhere.
Then there were the guys that always lost--Kenny "Sod Buster" Jay and George "Scrap Iron" Gadatski. The announcer would always say, "Well, Kenny Jay has had a long streak of bad luck here." Hilarious.
The wrestling wasn't nearly as athletic, but it was a hoot back in the 70s. Now I haven't watched it in years.

Magnum T.A. might be my all time favorite. Anyone else remember any shocking upsets. The only one that comes to mind was these super studs called the gladiators were just coming onto the scene before the Crocket Tag Team Memorial 24 team tourney. They were getting in a match the day before on TBS in that crappy little studio they had there. They were wrestling the Mulkey brothers, Randy and Bill. They were the guys that were about zero for several hundred on tbs and sure enough they stunned the gladiotors and replaced them in the Crocket Cup and promptly got waxed. It was just neat to see them throw a huge curve ball at us even if it was just once. Anyone remember any other of those guys that got their asses kicked every match besides the Mulkeys.

I used to love wrestling in the mid 80s..WWF and NWA were the big circuits then, but Mid South held its own, with guys like The Faboulous Freebirds, and Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert (his valet, Missy Hyatt, was soooo HOT!)Saturday nite's main event on nbc was great..JYD was my favorite, and his battles with Terry Funk were legendary. It's a shame that JYD died before his time not b/c of drugs and painkillers like 90% of the other wrestlers, but b/c he was in an auto accident. I remember on one of the SN Main events that there was a battle royal and Andre the Giant head butted Leaping Lanny Poffo (who is Randy Poffo's AKA Randy Macho Man Savage's brother in real life) so hard that he busted his head open. I know that razor blades were usually used to cause bleeding, but this cut was right above his eye and i dont think this was supposed to happen, b/c 2 seconds later Leaping Lanny, was leaping over the top rope and took himself out. The Road Warriors were by far the best tag team for years and years and their IRON MAN song before they entered the ring, always had the crowd in a frenzy. Wrestling sucks now (not b/c i am 31 years old, but b/c it is was too glammed up, almost like a soap opera, rather than action filled). The Rock was ok, and the NWO was solid about 7-8 years ago, but the sport sucks now. Maybe thats why the undertaker is back to what the public wanted.
