If that link doesn't work, google "Peyton Manning over Ryan Leaf".

Back then it was a HUGE debate and to me, like a lot of people, it was a toss-up! That's why Ryan Leaf is the #1 bust of all time. Because he was rated even with Peyton. That's a mighty big fall!

What about Huey Richardson, 15th overall pick and cut in year 2 by Pittsburgh.

Problem was that 1991 draft is one of the five worst ever. Only great player in that class is Favre.

Leonard Russell, Mike Pritchard, Pat Harlow, Bruce Pickens, Mike Croel, Todd Lyght, Dan McGwire......all mega busts.

Yes, but they weren't cut in their 2nd year.

I don't know how they could list Ki-Jana Carter as a bust. He blew out his knee before his first regular season NFL game. If he was healthy and didn't do shit that is one thing, but he never even got a chance.

That 1998 draft had two other signifigant busts in the top 5 ... But Leaf gave the other bums a break by garnering all the negative attention from it ... Heres the other two busts from the Imfamous 98' draft ...

#3 Cards take DE Andre Wadsworth ( 8 sacks in 3 years then out of the league
( could have had ... Leonard Little 81 sacks , Greg Ellis 77 Sacks, V Holliday 55 sacks , Grant Winstrom 51 sacks , who all played the same position )

#5 Bears take RB Curtis Enis , who scored 6 tds in 36 career games and is now out of the league
(they could have Fred Taylor or Ahman Green ...)

Granted Peyton Manning was #1 and right fully so, so maybe it wasnt such a bad draft after all , but these 3 assholes in the top 5 ? Are you shitting me ?

No bozworth?

Bosworth will always be my #1, but shit I'm getting old!

First pick overall in 1987 Supplemental Draft, fucking 22 years ago.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Bosworth

Bosworth was drafted by the Seahawks in the 1987 NFL supplemental draft and signed what was both the biggest contract in team history and the biggest rookie contract in NFL history: 10 years for US$11 million.

Remembered for his underperforming professional career, Bosworth was named the 6th worst flop on the Biggest Flops of the Last 25 Years list by ESPN in July 2004 and number three on NFL Network's NFL Top 10 Draft Busts).

Speaking of The Boz, he was in the news lately:

Brian Bosworth Arrested for DUI

Brian Bosworth, who had an explosive and semi-controversial career in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks and in the NCAA with the University of Oklahoma, has been arrested for DUI in Los Angeles early this morning.

Bosworth was pulled over by police for not having a license plate on his Harley motorcycle. Cops smelled alcohol and administered a breathalyzer test, which Bosworth failed.

Bail has been set at $5000.

Ryan Leaf has to be the #1 bust ever. It's not even close.

I'd reluctantly include Steve Emtman as well but his career was marred by injuries.

Going back 40 years u have to include this gem....

Tom Cousineau (born May 6, 1957, in Fairview Park, Ohio) is a former American Football linebacker who played six seasons in the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns and the San Francisco 49ers from 1982 to 1987. Cousineau is best known for being the first overall pick of the 1979 NFL Draft.

Went to the CFL instead and didnt play a game in the NFL till 82. Spent 5 worthless years in Clev and a cpl on the bench in SF and out..........

Lawrence Phillips was actually a great pro player. Best player in the CFL for two or three years. He was just a headcase, that's all.

There is Ryan Leaf, and then everyone else.
