Now I just looked closer at the Preferred Books page and I have a bone to pick.
Yes, they are all books that advertise with you and there are some non-advertised books at the bottom of the page.
I have no problem with this and realize it is just business. But when you come out and say we are putting together a new list that will be comprehensive without giving a disclaimer that advertisers will likely get preferential treatment that is not telling it like it is.
I don't blame you as you work for the site and the site has a responsibility to promote its advertisers. It would be really difficult to explain to a paid advertiser why you didn't list them as a preferred book and listed someone not paying your bills.
I realize it would be impossible to not cater to businesses you do business with. If I were in your shoes I'd probably have to grudgingly do the same. But the problem is when a not-so-knowledgable person comes in and actually believes a book like Blue Marlin is better than Olympic because it is merely presented that way. But then again, isn't this what advertising and marketing are all about?
Hope this helps you understand where I'm coming from.

very good post.....
and we understand that completely.....I think you will see some changes with the new list we are compiling.....None of us have ever claimed to be perfect, and i have a lot of faith in the crew i work with, and we are learning from past mistakes (some of which were ours) and we are trying to improve.....I think this year, you will notice some real changes, for the better....Just bear with us, and always feel free to share ideas and comments, its how we learn.....
