COVERS - PICK 'N' ROLL
(Tracking Started On 2/22/2011)

3-3-0 (NBA)

3-3-0 (NCAA HOOPS)

MONDAY 2/27/2011

Atlanta Hawks at Denver Nuggets (-6)

Call it the Hinrich Effect.

With defensive minded point guard Kirk Hinrich on the team, the Hawks look like a totally different squad. The three previous games before he arrived the club was falling apart and had coughed up more than 100 points in each contest – all loses.

But when the former Jayhawks star suited up late last week in Golden State, he brought a whole new approach for the team. Playing nearly 17 minutes off the bench in his debut, he scored eight points with three rebounds, three steals and added a three-pointer, a free throw and a steal. Oh, and Atlanta won 95-79 over one of the top offensive teams in the league.

“It’s important that I understand what we are trying to do at both ends,” Hinrich said. “But a lot of times our lineups and our athleticism, I think the best way for us to play is to just play. Work hard on the defensive end and try to run.”

On the other bench, the Nuggets look good since trading Carmelo Anthony. In three games since shipping him to New York, the team is 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS, with wins over Memphis and Boston. But Atlanta can match their depth and their athleticism and can counter with a renewed emphasis on defense and transition baskets.

Pick: Atlanta

Villanova Wildcats at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-4)

To say that Villanova is in a tailspin would be an understatement.

The team know for its three-point shooting, trapping defense and wide-open attack have failed to crack the 68-point barrier in four of the past six games. Not surprisingly, the Wildcats are 2-4 SU and 0-6 ATS over that span. And did we mention the victories are a two-point overtime win against an awful DePaul team and a three-point defeat of a terrible Seton Hall side?

"Honestly, I feel like we're getting - believe it or not - a little bit better, but not good enough for this league," Villanova coach Jay Wright said. "I don't think we're getting worse. If we didn't play a Syracuse, a St. John's, a Pitt, maybe it might show. But it's not good enough right now for this league."

And it’s not helping Villanova that star guard Corey Fisher picked a fine week to take off. In losses to Syracuse and St. John’s – both at home – the senior stud was 4-for-26 from the field and 0-of-16 from beyond-the-arc.

"He got good looks," Wright said. "I don't know. I really don't. The best thing that we can tell him is to keep shooting it. We have confidence in him. We're going to ride him."

The Irish will have no problem with that approach.

At home this season, Notre Dame is 16-0 SU and 7-4 ATS in lined games. Over the past six weeks the team has been especially good in South Bend, posting a 4-1 ATS mark that includes a win over Louisville and Cincinnati.

Pick: Notre Dame

Jordan's got a 400 unit NBA double digit winner on the card tonight. Looking at the line-up of games tonight, I'm guessing he's on the Bulls. O'Brien's got the same type of write-up, blowout winner, so I'm thinking he's got Chicago as well.

Redd's got 40 dimes on the Hawks-Nuggets (probably Hawks, he's a dog lover after all) and 20 dimes on Kansas st - Texas.

Adams and Davis are both playing the Villanova-Notre Dame game.

And last but not least, Nover's got a 50 dime potential underdog outright winner! I looked at the card and for me, the only game that fits is Clippers/Kings. Clippers opened at +2 but are down to +1 or a pk at most books. My guess is he's on the Clippers.

Hopefully we'll get some of these plays as usual.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Adams and Davis will also be on Notre Dame, because not only is Budin on ND but the free pick for Lang, Jordan, Garrett, O'Brien and Maxwell is ND. Of course, this site likes to scam peoepl, so givig out both sides would not be impossible, but I doubt anyone will be going against Budin's play.

My first guess was Bulls... 2nd was Denver for Jordan. 5th game in 7 nights for the Hawks. I also think Redd will be on a favorite in this case, Nuggets.

I'm going to give Texas a 1 unit shot tonight. I figure there is no way, with the teams records and stats, that Redd is on Texas -8.5. And I'm fading Jordan, so hopefully Redd isn't on the Hawks.

Giving Villanova a shot as well tonight. I'm also very tempted to play the Kings as I really feel that Nover is on the Clippers. Maybe I'll wait to see how my early plays work out as the fade, although very good recently, had a rough time yesterday, gave back some of the profit I've made since SuperBowl.

Dammit, Villanova got destroyed. Is it my imagination, or is Budin at least more consistent then the others on his site that have plays every day?

He's definitely not someone you want to fade every game he throws out there.

So, Jordan has been tracked for a month. He lost 3400 units on the SuperBowl and another 2230 units the rest of the month. Faders using my sliding scale made 15 units on the SuperBowl and another 3.5 units off the rest of his plays. He seems to be like a lot of other touts, basically a 50% winner on the lower plays but shanks the big ones.

Since we are getting the plays consistently from lastguy, I'm going to track him for March, simply because with March Madness he might be a good fade. After that, we'll reevaluate again. I've seen a few people say he's actually good at MLB, so maybe we'll do April too and then make a final decision. Let's see if he's worth continuing after March.

For Redd, his plays are coming out less and less. I'll try to keep March going because of the NCAA tournament, but it's pointless to track a guy long-term if his plays can't be verified before the games. Would suck to have to drop him though because he's been a gold mine.

I'm done with tracking Benton. His plays are maybe posted once a week so it's a waste of time.

The fade crew is probably dead also. Pick Nation and Picks For The Money were being posted daily across the street but that forum changed their points system so people have no incentive to post plays any more.

Have to find someone new...some scammer whose plays get posted on a regular basis.

COVERS - PICK 'N' ROLL
(Tracking Started On 2/22/2011)

3-4-0 (NBA)

4-3-0 (NCAA HOOPS)

TUESDAY 3/1/2011

NBA

New York Knicks at Orlando Magic (-7)

The Knicks love when everyone writes them off against quality opponents. And why shouldn’t they? Even rebuilt, the team just losst to the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers. But when the chips are down against a contender, there aren’t many teams better than New York.

The team from Manhattan is a sparkling 6-2-1 ATS as an underdog of seven points or more this season. Most recently, the Knicks stunned the basketball world with a 91-86 win over the Heat. Miami entered the game as a 10-point favorite.

"The bigger the game, the bigger the stage, the bigger they play," Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said.

Orlando, however, often shrinks from the spotlight.

The Magic are just 14-12 ATS this season as favorites of seven or more points and often fail to focus against lesser teams. Orlando is coming off consecutive straight up and against the spread wins versus Charlotte and Oklahoma City, but lost to the Kings in Florida last week by six.

"We've been talking for a long time -- all we seem to do is talk," Magic center Dwight Howard said. "You guys know what the difference is. You watch the games. If guys don't want to play, they need to sit down. We can't just have guys or anybody out there not playing hard.

"We're professional athletes. This is what we do for a living. If you can't go out there and go hard for two hours, then you shouldn't be playing."

Pick: Knicks

NCAA

Alabama Crimson Tide at Florida Gators (-6)

The Crimson Tide simply can’t shoot from beyond the arc. The team is an abysmal 22-of-86 from downtown the past seven games and is making a mere 30 percent of its triples on the season. That’s bad news for a team that relies so heavily on its defense to win games.

Alabama is fourth in the country in points allowed per game (58.2) and fourth in opponents field goal percentage (37.3) and needs to play that well to win. The team is a horrendous 3-7 SU when giving up more than 60 points. Don’t fall for the team’s 45.2 percent shooting percentage either – the Crimson Tide have made nearly 110 dunks this season, meaning more than 15 percent of its baskets are slams around the rim.

That’s not the only troubling issue on offense. Senior Senario Hillman started the team’s first 10 games but has played sparingly since and was scoreless in 12 minutes in the team’s most recent game.

Hillman needs just 13 points to reach 1,000 for his career and just six steals to become the program’s all-time leader. However, he appears to be so far in the dog house, neither of those milestones are a given.

"He's so active," Alabama coach Anthony Grant said. "He can do so many things, and he's starting to get a comfort level from an offensive standpoint as well as far as what he can and can't do. ... He's playing good basketball, and we certainly need him to continue."

He can’t play though, if he’s never on the floor.

Pick: Florida

I'm thinking about maybe tracking Vegas-Runner from PreGame. He sucks so he certainly qualifies, lol.

Looks like all of his plays are either 2 or 3 units. Sometimes he has 3 plays a day, sometimes 8. Saw on another forum that he is down 56.2 units on the year and that includes last night where he went 0-4 and dropped 9.9 units.

According to another poster, VR's record for the year, broken down by sport is:

NBA: -22.8 Units

NCAABB: -3.5 Units

NFL: -14.1 Units

NCAAFB: -15.8 Units

TOTAL: -56.2 Units

I will just have to see, starting with today, how often his plays get posted and if it is worth it to track him.

All the Pregame cappers results get posted here and you can see his results from last night on the bottom:

http://pregame.com/pregamepros/picks/date.aspx?date=20110228

You can also go back each day to see how all of their cappers have done.

Here is VR's main webpage:

http://pregame.com/pregamepros/pro-bettor/bettor.aspx?CapperId=8573

And here is VR's Twitter page:

http://twitter.com/VegasRunner

Here is a video that is on VR's main page and I was laughing because VR and the guy whose talking to him sound fruitier than Richard Simmons. The guy on the left, RJ, definitely takes it up the ass, ha ha!
