ANALYSIS
Which Clemson Tiger team will show up? That’s the big question with this game.
The Tigers started out the season very hot, averaging more than 40 points a game. Then they hit a bump in the road and lost three of four games. Then they bouncaed back with some of that fire from earlier in the season to rout Virginia Tech 38-10 in the ACC title game.
Clemson’s offense is highlighted by sophomore quarterback Tajh Boyd and freshman receiver Sammy Watkins. Boyd had an outstanding season, throwing for 36 touchdnowns, while throwing only 10 interceptions. Watkins has been a highlight reel, catching 77 passes for 1,153 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The piece of the puzzle that will make the Clemson offense work is running back Andre Ellington. He’s a 1,000 yard rusher that will create matchup problems for West Virginia. If the Mountaineers try to play coverage, he Ellington will run wild. If they sell out for the run, then Watkins will have some big plays.
Geno Smith leads West Virginia and the Mountaineers can score some points. But the difference here will be the Clemson pass rush. West Virginia has average pass protection. The front line of Clemson should get enough pressure on Smith to cause some problems and help out the defensive backs.
West Virginia needs to establish a run game, and that will be diffilcut as leading rusher Dustin Garrison will be out with an injury suffered during practice.
The difference here will be Ellington and the problems that sets up for the West Virginia defense. Clemson regained its offensive form and should keep it going against West Virginia.
Lay the points with Clemson.

20 Dime winner in college hoops on the Providence Friars as home dog against Syracuse. At the time I release this winner to you, the Friars are a 12 1/2-point home underdog both here in Vegas and offshore.
We have a lot to get to in this analysis section, so I will keep matters short-and-sweet.
In this Orange Bowl game, the bottom line is the Clemson Tigers have too much offense for the West Virginia Mountaineers to contend with. This year's Clemson team features not only a 1,000 yard rusher - Andre Ellington, but also features a 1,000 yard receiver - Sammy Watkins. The man that makes it all go is dangeraus quarterback Tajh Boyd who can run it and can pass it - 31 touchdown passes this season!
As you can see, this Clemson team is very well balanced. The same cannot be said of West Virginia, as the Mountaineers could only muster just over 100 yards per game rushing the ball this season, and their best running threat - Dustin Garrison - injured his knee in practice leadning up to this game, and will be sidelined.
The Tigers did lose three of their final four regular season games to close the year, but we able to regroup againit Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship Game for the 38-10 rematch win. The Tigers played eight bowl teams on their twelve game schedule this year, and now that they are 100% healthy, I don't think West Virginia is going to be able to keep pace with them for the full four quarters. This one will stay close, but in the end it will be ACC rep Clemson that comes up with the solid touchdown win and cover.
Let's go to the NBA, and grab the points with the Indiana Pacers.
Miami lost their first game of the season to the Atlanta Hawks the other night, and they do have a return engagement scheduled with the Hawks for tomorrow night in Atlanta. There is a good chance the Heat's focus will be on avenging Monday's loss to Atlanta, and will allow the imrpoved Pacers to stay close.
Indiana is off to a 4-1 straight up start to the year, and their numbers against Miami are very respectable, as the Pacers are 9-4 against the spead their last 13 visits to South Beach.
The underdog in this series is a positive 22-7-1 the last 30 series meetings.
Of course every time Miami steps on the court they will be asked to cover an inflated price, and tonight is no exception.
Take the Pacers plus the points.
College dog winner on Providence at home versus Syracuse.
Don't sleep on these Friars, as new coach Ed Cooley has his team off to an 11-4 start, and they are finally back home - where they are 8-0 straight up - after three in a row on the road.
Yes the Friars did get routed at St. John's recently, but they followed up that clunker with a competitive road cover at Georgetown, and they are in triple-revenge against the #1 Orange who will be playing their second in a row on the road.
Syracuse is being asked to cover a pretty steep impost in this one, and I don't think they are going to be able to pull away from this gritty Providence team.
Take the double-digits with the home dog.
