I think its a mistake deleting the RR....RR was a thread where anybody could bring up just about anything & shed light on a lot of insanity going on in this country & other places in the world...

As an active participant in the IVU Thread since it started, imo eliminating it is not the way to go here and for that matter the entire

Rubber Room!!

As I posted a day or so ago before the Rubber Room was taken down, imo true moderation does not simply entail moving threads

from the Political Section to the Rubber Room but a lot more such as actually moderating the threads and discussions,

asking relevant questions in the ones that are controversial and overall steering the conversation in a manner in which

will be productive to those participating in it to simply those reading it.

Namecalling and insults will not be tolerated under any conditions!!

People who do neglect the rules and resort to name-calling and insults will be warned once and if they do it again, will be banned

PERMANENTLY from that thread.

And yes to be fair, in the iVU Thread I have been guilty of this myself as much as anyone else, but have done it only in self-defense.

I would much rather have stimulating and provocative conversations whether it be about Trump, Biden, etc than the bitterness

and hate that exists in places like the IVU Thread now.

That said, I do believe that a participant in the IVU Thread or any thread has a right to POLITELY ask someone who posts something

with which a poster disagrees questions to explain his position and/or to POLITELT present evidence refuting what the other

poster said.

Some of this as I stated previously would mean a moderator would have to get involved in the thread!

His or her role would simply be to keep the thread on track rather than to state their own opinions.

It goes without saying that the ignore feature would be there for those who chose not to read what someone else had to say

for whatever reasons.

Imo moderators and/or administration should also have rules/standards so that the mess we saw a few days ago in the Rubber Room

with multiple threads started by a few posters does not exist.

This would mean moderators should moderate these threads and if in their opinion they decided that the only people

participating in it were a few people calling each other names, etc, with no intrinsic value overall of the thread and that it was

self-serving and personal in nature only, they should simply delete the thread and before closing it advise the people

participating in it to do it with pm messages between themselves!!

The other possible solution to this would be for the forum to have a thread with the title of the poster entitled for example

"Thoughts of Joe Blow" where that poster could confine all of his random thoughts and ideas in ONE thread which others

could read and offer any commentary wanted but without name-calling and insults.

That in itself would help to eliminate some of the current cloggings of the forum and allow those not interested to quickly

scroll past that thread to one in which they were/are interested!!

That's it!!

A few years back , the forum across the street and the owner of that forum decided to create a pyramid scheme with their NFL handicapping contest. During the 3rd year of playing in that contest , I noticed a few inconsistencies in that contest coupled with slow pays , promises to pay later, entries into future contests etc. Towards the end of that contest , blatant cheating was going on with grading , late posting of picks, Saturday results not being posted until Sunday for some contestants, and other shenanigans.. It was bizarre to say the least. Couldn't understand why that particular site couldn't get themselves into the 21st century and have some automated software installed to at least avoid the appearance of cheating.

I pretty much had enough at that point, went " ALL IN " and started to post about what I thought was going on. I even posted odds on how this was all going to play out. I think i hit all 15 predictions. lol Good ole boys there defended Jack to the very end, got pretty ugly in there for me, until Wayne finally banned me.. To close to the truth was why.

contests days were over after that , Some never go paid, not even sure the site exists anymore. I'm very proud for my part in taking that motherfucker down.

Moral of the story, be very careful with your good posters on your forum. cheating isn't much worse than censoring
This is the most uncensored website on planet Earth .
This place would make 4chan blush .
Try posting half the shit vlad or sheriff Joe post anywhere else on the internet and tell me how it goes

I guess we have a different definition of censorship with what is happening with the RR.
Who gives a crap with what goes on with other sites, maybe the RX was just late to the party ?

If you think this forum as has a over censorship problem I would suggest trying other forums and maybe you will see this place has almost no censorship compared to just about any other forum on the internet

The next logical question is now that there is no Rubber Room, what happens WHEN someone opens a new thread in the Political

section that the Administration/moderators feel is unacceptable.

The obvious question is do they simply leave it, delete the thread and/or simply shuffle it off to some kind of forum landfill!!

You're a trouble maker
I'm no trouble-maker, I ruin trolls and trouble makers like you NBA KID.

Awww you're upset I know ALL ABOUT YOU MR NBA_KID (Posting 2 sides of a game!)

Posts still waiting for you to answer... https://www.therx.com/threads/tuesday-mlb.1254861/page-3

This fraud, GREENBACKS AKA NBA_KID posted one side of games here. And the OPPOSITE side on that forum ensuring he got 1 win...screwing anyone who followed.

https://www.madjacksports.com/forum/threads/tuesday-hoops.6945542/

Everyone could see this and the OPPOSITE sides on BOTH sides now...

He was banned after doing it repeatedly and other trolling.

Only idiot who needs a ban IS YOU, AND YOUR MULTIPLE ALIASES (MR, KYJELLY IS THAT YOU?)

Spirited debate is welcome - politics can be a touchy subject but keep punches above the waistline. We will be updating our general forum policy soon to be clearer as to what type of comments are permitted.
I look forward to seeing the new policy.

IME reading opposing viewpoints is often more valuable than reading the views of people I agree with. That said, when the opposing view is to insult, troll, promote conspiracies, and wish death upon those who disagree the main things that are gained are frustration and a wish to spend my time elsewhere.

This change has a lot of potential to improve the site. (y)

This is probably going to be my last post in this thread, but my overall feelings about eliminating the Rubber Room can be summarized

as "expediency," which in turn is defined by this definition:

"the quality of being convenient and practical despite possibly being improper or immoral."

ps I too will also be eagerly awaiting the new policy, which hopefully will elevate the status of the entire forum!!
