Barman how do you mentally purge? Meditation techniques or you use a substance to assist you?
I do employ one or two daily sessions of (mostly Japa style) meditation.
But far more important is that in the past four years I have become far more deliberate about where I direct my attention.
I very rarely need to 'purge' because I very rarely think thoughts which do not feel good.
In the event I do find myself on a 'slide' of negative momentum, I find sleep - if even for a couple hrs - to be the best response.
When we sleep, all mental momentum subsides. And I am absolutely resolute about the first 10min of my awaking.....It's only thoughts which feel good and that momentum generally rules the day
