My Analysis
They can't hide him tonight.
Michael Penix Jr had a so so debut last week in the Falcons 34-7 home win over the pathetic Giants.
He was 18 of 27 for 202 yards and a deflected interception.
His defense gave him a 24-7 lead early 3rd quarter and he was able to manage the 2nd half with ease as the Atlanta braintrust didn't have to ask much of him.
He didn't have to execute much under pressure from the Giants but he will have to do that tonight.
The Falcons caught a break in their schedule the last 2 weeks having faced the Raiders and Giants but how did they do against their last 2 playoff opponents?
They got hammered 38-6 at Denver and 42-21 at Minnesota and that was with a veteran QB.
You think Penix is just going to waltz in here and have a day??? Against a Dan Quinn coached defense??
Good luck with that.
I expect head coach Dan Quinn and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr to throw the kitchen sink at the rookie this evening.
And you will see him struggle right before your very eyes. Trust me, he will throw a pick tonight, maybe even two.
To the numbers? Last 4 times the Falcons have been a non division road dog of 5 or less they are 0-4 ATS.
And the home team in this series has won and covered 3 straight.
Long day for the rookie as the Commanders roll at home.
