Give me the home dog all night long.
As the 2-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the 2-0 Philadelphia Eagles, the oddsmaker in Vegas has made the Eagles a significant road favorite.
In my opinion ....it's because of the lack of respect of Bucs QB Baker Mayfield.
After going 11-5 in 2020 as the starting QB for the Browns leading them to the playoffs, he went 6-8 in 2021 and 2-8 in 2022 for the Panthers and Rams.
However, his new start in Tampa reminds me of the Baker who led the Browns to the playoffs in 2020.
In the opener on the road against the Vikings, Mayfield went 26-34 for 317 yards and in last week's 27-17 win over Chicago another TD.
He has yet to throw a pick in 2023.
Philly won ugly at New England and last Thursday at home they allowed the backdoor to Kirk Cousins and the Vikings.
Their offense with Jalen Hurts is struggling under first year offensive coordinator Brian Johnson.
After 2 weeks they rank 27th in passing offense in the NFL and are now facing a Tampa Bay defense that has 8 sacks and 5 takeaways.
This Tampa defense is for real and I don't see this Eagles offense torching them.
On the flip side, week one Mac Jones of the Patriots threw for 315 and week two Cousins threw for 364.
In a nutshell, this Eagles secondary is struggling.
To the numbers: Philly is 1-9 ATS as a non-division road chalk while the Bucs are 6-2 SU and 8-0 ATS as a Monday night home dog.
Folks, 8 straight covers as a Monday night home dog and tonight I fully expect it to be 9 in a row.
Don't be surprised to see Tampa shock the world and win this game outright.
