As for the average hourly wage, here is a list by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics by profession across the country

https://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t19.htm

Hard to imagine anyone thinking there aren't a variety of states over $25/hour.

Here's a sampling from zip recruiter. I'm sure if someone wanted to waste the time looking they could drill down on the BLS numbers and get the average per state.

Looking at SSN numbers, they already had the average salary at $50k in 2018 ($25/hour would be $52k if you worked all 52 weeks)

I don't think anyone is crazy about what we're having to do to at least try and save the economy.. But with Nancy trying to either sabatoge or extort the process , what Trump did today was a good move..checkmate !

So if you don't know, there's no need to read your opinion.

That is a very sensible conclusion....Best to just watch what happens and thereby reduce any possible shock which might come when you see yet another trump con job (45+ yrs of history for him) fizzle

Oh feel free to continue with your sarcasm. When you have something cogent, I'm all ears. I hardly think listening to the opinion of a partisan hack like yourself is of much value.

Average wage is a joke. Average person not working are not anywhere near $25 and hour.

There isn’t a single state in The south that has minimum wage over $10. Hell most are not even $8. These are the jobs people are not working. That $600 alone brought in almost double what a $10 job a week does. With states capping UE some are max $350 and you had to make good money to get to the max. Average Joe is bringing in $275 state. If they worked they would brought in $320 a week. But add that $600 on to $275 and folks are bringing home almost triple.

Take the couple big city states and yeah min wage plus the extra and I’m sure folks are under what they made by a bit. But the vast majority of people are making out like bandits and I don’t blame them for not going back to work. It’s Xmas for the entire south east!

You take these JUST jobs in the south and make them $25 and hour hell even $20 an hour and 75% of people would get off UE real quick.

$25=$52k year in southeast. Teacher, police, fire, state, city, secretary, dental hygienists, restaurant, hotel, landscape, construction, Are all just a start of jobs that don’t pay $50k a year in the southeast.

No way this federal extra isn’t helping the economy in majority of areas. If you disagree then go grab a job at UPS or FedEx, then go visit Home Depot and Walmart and watch Summer Xmas.

$50k in (majority) South is like making $100k in California.

Yep. I make effectively $70-85 an hour typically. Depends on incentives and a couple other factors out of my control. Of course I’m not going to quit my job to collect the government freebies.

But my girlfriend makes around $900 a week after taxes. She can keep working 40 hour weeks to get her $900, or she can quit, take the state benefits, take the additional $400, and she will roughly bring home around the same amount, to not work.

Many people will just take the free money. And it’s hard to blame them.

It’s also not a coincidence that giving the $10 per hour workers $850 a week (state plus federal) to sit at home is largely why many of those types of people are now rioting in the street. Not a care in the world financially, can’t do the normal things they’d do recreationally, so they join the “protests” that easily devolve into riots.

How can anyone argue that’s not the intent?

average is not the right metric for what you are trying to analyze, IMO.

median would be a much better indicator, since we would be trying to determine what percentage of people now have zero incentive to work, and how many have incentive not to work.

the sheer fact that millions of people will make less money by working is damning in and of itself. How is that good for an economy?

I really don't care about your opinion (nor does the average wage earner out on unemployment). You obviously had no idea the reasoning behind how Congress came up with the numbers they used and were too intellectually lazy to look up the reasoning. Instead you chose to regurgitate a talking point and now look pretty silly trying to make a case based on your opinion of how thing should be. The information I provided can rest on its merit. I'm not going to waste any more time eviscerating your nonsense. You should try drilling down on information next time instead of spouting off about something you know nothing about.

And when you can actually comprehend how the numbers were originated (and you obviously didn't), you'll understand. Falling back on some stupid talking points is not going to change anything. No one is talking about $10 per hour workers except you and the other sheep that didn't take the time to read up on how this transpired.

I accept your surrender.

There is no logic that could ever make sense of “let’s pay people more not to work than they’d get paid to work and that’ll be good for our economy.” When millions of people produce nothing of value, society and the economy both suffer. Paying people well to produce nothing, well, that’s a recipe for disaster and should have been short term only. Through July was insane. Extending it is not good.

Don’t blame yourself. I respect that you’re riding this argument down to the bottom of the ocean.

And the logic for the $600 a week, the logic they literally stated, was that this was an emergency and Congress didn’t have time to calculate everyone’s appropriate amount or have the infrastructure to do so, so they’ll just send $600 to everyone, because it’s such an emergency.

They admitted then that it was a boon for low wage earners, and you’re a fool for trying to argue against a point they, themselves already conceded.

It’s not a talking point you halfwit. It’s a literal fact that more people are rioting and protesting because they’re not at work. I don’t know if you know this or not, but someone’s propensity to go to a protest is a bit higher on average when they dont have any time obligations. And it’s a literal fact that many people are not at work right now because they get paid more to not work.

I don't see the paid rioters as the same people getting unemployment benefits and extensions..Two completely different groups..I doubt hardly any of the rioters were part of the working man system
