I haven't posted here most of the year - for my own reasons - but my post season record over the past several seasons has been excellent.

I see BigLou touting the Titans - is this your GOY for 2003 Big Lou - I remember your last GOY - it was Dallas over Philly, wasn't it?

Any way, you can feel safe about laying the 6 points and taking the Pats - I don't see them having any kind of a let down vs Tenn - and that is the only way Tennessee can beat New England. With the weather going to below zero Saturday night, the Pats might have another shut out in the works.
I'll take the Pats for 8 units

My other picks are:
St Louie -7 5 units
GB +5.5 3 Units ats and 2 units ML
KC -3 5 Units

Good luck!

Thanks RPM, I appreciate the greeting.

Panther - sounds like a good parlay to me - GB on the ML and the Pats for one unit - let's kick some ass.

Big Lou - I'll take your lead - If the Pats don't win su and ats- I'll never post here again - and I won't go back on my word!

Good luck all!

Why do people volunteer not to ever post again if they lose a bet - I never understood that.

i always thought it was just a big joke - but people are actually serious when they say it I think...

Wouldn't surprise me if New England hangs a donut on Tennessee.

Then again Tennessee winning wouldn't be that much of a shock.

Lou the ballsy thing to do would be to come back and answer questions, not leave the forum.

FYI - Tennessee had 442 total yards against the Pats last game compared to the Pats 354!

KMAN,

Throw out all statistics from that game. Just ask the Broncos & Colts.

BBLight... You have the exact same plays as myself. I don't understand how anyone can think Tennessee is going to walk into Foxboro and blow out the Pats. Opponents average score there is 9 pts. I've heard comments that the Titans will shut down the NE run and make them a one-demensional team??? Patriots aren't a running team anyway...Baltimore was shut down the first half last week because they couldn't run against Tenn #1 ranked run defense. Balt is a running offense, and Patriots are a passing offense. When they started passing close to half time and the second half is when they began driving. Brady will pass all over Tenn's so-so defensive backs. McNair is banged up, Eddie George had missed 3 practices this week due to ankle injury and recovery from last week's dislocated elbow. George is expected to play. NE defense is looking better than ever. Statisticaly better than two years ago when they won the superbowl. Don't forget that Tenn and NE already played once..and what happened??? Oh yeah New Endland won??? All of these morons that think the Titans will just waltz through Foxboro are going to be shutting their cake-holes after the Pats handle some business this weekend.

My take on the pats game?

Let me preface this by saying I had tickets and was forced to sell them because (long story short) my one legged brother in law who was going to go to the game with me decided he didnt want to go because of the cold.

Gary Anderson said that it was "life threatening cold".

Here at home I am too goddamn cold to even think about a rational way of reasoning this game. My cars wont start, my cats by law arent allowed to go outside, and I dread having to go bring the trash can back from the end of the driveway.

Granted I am in Maine and things are a few degrees cooler (-2 now where I am without wind chill factored) but I cant for the life of me figure how they will play in this.

Back in my high school football days (in the 20's) I played in 2 games that came anywhere close to this cold and in both cases my fingers got the shit jammed out of them and my eyeballs froze solid (ok I'm exaggerating some)...

The issue with the field I think is key because it pissed belechick off. I'm not sure how to take his reaction but it actually worries me somewhat - he NEVER concedes to the press what he is thinking and yet he dropped a bomb when asked about the field issue and shocked me to death.

He can outsmart Fisher, the teams match up well, and IMO the stats point towards the pats winning here.

One angle I havent seen out there yet is whether or not in extreme conditions teams can be more apt to score on defense or special teams... I dont know if this is true but I'd be interested in anyone who had any research on the topic.

The only thing with that is who would get the edge if the fact was true? both teams have put up points that way... I would guess that it would lean to the pats but the fact of the matter is I dont think anyone can say definitively what will happen or how the cold will effect the game.

To aviod driving myself totally nuts and to keep from ruining the watching experience I've chosen to put 15 bucks on the pats at -6 and I'm gonna spend the rest on beer and sandwiches to enjoy the game.

If they lose at least I'll have enough beer.

If they win I'll have beer and a few more bucks...

Good luck to all on this game - enjoy it if possible.

Jont

noone really (that I know of) is saying that tenn will blow out the pats

I think the argument is that the cold will keep the games total score possibly below 10

which doesnt give you much room to cover the 6

Jont95,

All of these morons that think the Titans will just "waltz" through Foxboro are going to be shutting their cake-holes after the Pats handle some business this weekend.

The Titans, from Tennessee. Waltzing in. "The Tennessee Waltz!" I get it! Good one man!!

It is very cold in the Boston area - which should favor the Pats slightly since they've been practicing and living in it.
The newly covered field might also favor the Pats - but not to listen to bellichek bitch about it.
The Pats are also a bit miffed about the lack of respect they seem to be getting in the national arena - they're not a flashy team - and they don't have any bonafied superstars for the media to focus on - they're just a blue collar team working to be the best that they can be.
Two weeks ago the Pats beat the Bills by a 31 to 0 score - the reverse of the embarrassmenrt that they sufferred in game one at Buffalo. Those 31 points were scored against the # two defense in the league.
I'm not saying that the Titans are bad - they're a very good team - and as the old saying goes "on any given Sunday (or Saturday night)....." - BUT - the Pats are that good - especially the defense! I haven't seen a defense this solid since the '85 Bears - These guys make each other a better player - and each one knows that this could be his game to step up to the plate and belt one out of the park!

I'm looking forward to Sunday morning - I have this picture in my mind of BigLou skulking around - tail tucked between legs - whining for forgiveness!

Oh yeh! Life is good!!!!

Good luck!

bblight,

Dream on. If I lose I will have the common decency to hold up my end of the wager. You're not dealing with panther here. My word is my word.

Won't take much to live up to your end Lou, it means you won't have to come in here to answer questions.

A no lose bet for you, you win and look like some guru, you lose and you disappear.
