san Jose,

Thanks for the history lesson. Many brave men have served our country throughout our history and this is not defined by their politcal party affliations. My references are to modern day Chickenhawks who had the opportunity to serve their country but did not. These are not the leaders that I would want to serve with. Kerry will take care of that.

The Ronnie Tisdale that I knew was a brave Marine who wasted away in the Texas Penal System as the result of a brain tumor (which probably was service connected).

What's your story?

Lt. Dan,

I was hoping for some real insight into what kind of guy Ronnie Tisdell was, because my friend was one of the prosecutors who sent Tisdell to prison, and the Ronnie Tisdell described in media stories is NOT the same guy who committed all of those violent crimes. The media has "spun" him into sympathetic character, but tell that to the people he injured in Texas throughout the latter 25 years of his life. Tell me something about Tisdell that no one else on this forum would know from reading media accounts, that way I can compare it against what my friend told me.

And by the way, you didn't answer any of my questions. You say you hate modern day "chickenhawks" but what makes them any different than the past Presidents who didn't serve in the military? Can a person be the Commander in Chief at wartime if he never served in the military...it's a simple YES or NO question? If you answer NO then I guess we shouldn't have fought World Wars I and II, and if you say YES, then your comments about Bush are strictly of a partisan political nature, and thus have less credibility than a non-political veteran would have. Which is it?
