Are most of the players from the northern region? Seems like with the economy there it would be hard to start and maintain a business.

Do you mean where the players grew up/were born? Are you referring to Lions or Red Wings?

Porcher actually invested in 3 different restaurants in the city along with former Piston Derrick Coleman. They all closed within the last few years because they werent paying their rent and/or taxes lol. Sounds like Coleman was a bit shady. Moore was does some stuff with the Lions and local media. Kowalkowski actually became a shop teacher at my old middle school. Although i forgot he was from Michigan. His dad Bob, who also played for the Packers and Lions back in the day, was originally from Pennsylvania, but stayed in Michigan after his playing days were over.

Off the top of my head, I know that Ciccarelli from the Wings owns a bar in the area, Chelios owns one downtown next to Comerica Park that does huge business (he closed another one that was in the burbs), Mickey Redmond is part owner (i think) of one by me, along with a Travel agency.

Oh and I used to get my haircut from Bernie Carbo when I was a kid lol. Just made me think of that.

Actually, a lot of ex-professional "jocks" end-up owning a bar or restaurant, the list is endless....it's a good way for them to ride-it-out "into the sunset if they can stay sober. Jack Dempsey started the trend after he ended his career back in the 30"s "JACK DEMPSEYS" in New York City....it was portrayed in the "God Father" Movie.
