Maybe this has been addressed already-I didn't feel like slogging my way through 5 pages to find out-but Ripken escaped criticism more than he deserved-not as much as Favre and Clemens do, but he had some Teflon tendencies, too: there was at least one season when he HURT the team because of his insistence on keeping that overrated streak alive. Baltimore was in the race and faded in September, partly because an exhausted Ripken played like shit down the stretch. I happen to believe the "blackout of a game because of his fight with Kevin Costner" story, which extended the streak anyway. He's a HOFer, but overrated in my view...

Well well well look at this thread gaining back its big MO again.

Looks like there are other people that are not buying into this Ripken is great bullshit.

CC please put the crack pipe down. WTF are you talking about.

Could TheRightSide have a classic thread here? I think it might make it.

I'm sure Jman would not be to happy about this LOL

Jman please notice the LOL after the last sentence that means it was a joke.

..it's about time.

While were on the topic of HOF'ers ...

How's it possible for a closer that made more All-Star team's in MLB history (9) than any other player at his position, not make it? :think2:

He also held right-handed batters to a .211 batting average,.285 on-base percentage and .311 slugging percentage over a 22-year career!

Anyone ????...
