LIV and The Masters

The Masters tees off from Augusta National on April 6 for the 87th beginning of A Tradition Unlike Any Other. Amidst the continuing controversy surrounding LIV Golf and the PGA TOUR, so far all four major tournaments have elected to continue to allow LIV golfers to compete and participate.
However they have not changed the qualifications for getting an invitation, many of which hinge on participation in the PGA TOUR — for instance, winning a PGA TOUR event in the past year or finishing in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings will also get you an invitation, but the OWGR has declined to grant points at LIV events.
So who will actually qualify? Golfers who have won the Masters before, who finished top 12 last year, or who have recently won THE PLAYERS or another major championship will be invited. In total, 18 golfers in the Masters field are now a part of LIV Golf.

Top 30 ranked golfer sweet spot is inside top 12 Average is about 5th-6th ranked OWGR.

Driving distance plays big here.

Good form heading in. Guys with T10's in 2 of last 3 tournaments

Guys who did well on Florida swing.

Odds 16-1 to 30-1 sweet spot

Faves have been awful

Previous year winner has not done well

Experience at Augusta around guys with 4-5 starts or more

Top 20 finish year before

Guys who can go low 67 or better rounds at any time at Augusta

Top 5-10 Major finish in past two years is a must

SG Approach top 20
SG Around Green top 20
GIR top 20

Guys who check a bunch of these boxes spit out the winner over the past 15 years.

Last year I went through digging up the most boxes and it landed on 3 golfers who were something like 11 or 12 out 13 boxes and..

Scottie Scheffler

led the way. Scottie won and Cam led till Sunday finished 3rd or 4th. Not sure where Hovland landed but I do know his two big knocks were only 2nd start and short game.

If you play the 1st time major winner angle along with some of the other trends etc...

Max Homa stands out big time. Personally, I just haven't viewed him as a good course fit guy here. But stats and Trends say otherwise

Xander is right there with Homa also.

Will Z hard to figure out his form and switched clubs up. He has crushed his only two starts here. Great lag putter but god awful short putter. Fast greens here help crappy short putters though. Will Z is not a guy you want to back in birdie fest. But if you feel his form and back are good to go and the winning score in the -8 to -11 range he is in play.

Hovland imo lacks the short game and experience for this course

Young fits a bunch of boxes but just his second start I believe

I'd probably rank rate Xander best bet option.

Scottie (Previous winner is not too good following year)

Rahm (Is crushing this year and destroys this course)

Im (Just not sure Fat Panda is there yet)

Thomas (Just don't trust him here. Always a stat darling every year)

Morikawa (Bit sloppy short game at times)

Xander (Great finishes here and due a major win)

Rory (Has the curse probably never wins the grand slam. Dude is notorious for shooting a68 75 to open first two rounds here and just grind and fall into some top 5 almost but never really a factor to win)

Spieth ( looks to check the most boxes and obviously has some magic here. Could walk away with 5 shot win but always finds some bonehead fuck ups yet makes up for it with miracle shit.)

best 4 imo to win eliminating never won a major and past winner year before. Otherwise Scottie is all over the board on boxes checked.

Rahm and Rory best fits for T5 and Win equity but they are up there with Scottie as favorites which never win.

So SPieth 16-1 and Xander 22-1 look good so far for win only options. But T5 or T10 less likely.

Havent done every stat or trend but quite a few. Biggest wrinkle is these LIV guys no idea true form of these guys but they are some course fits big time here. Just hard to gauge form and stats since they are seperate and also in these shorter fileds.

Going to be a lot a rain. Very disruptive Masters week. With wet greens you can take a lot more chances. Thursday 85 humid with rain and possible thunderstorms. Temperature drops to 69 with scattered showers on Friday and 62 with scattered rain on Saturday. Cold front coming in on Thursday. Not exactly the best weather in Augusta. I was there for a Monday practice round in 2016. It was easily one of nicest days at Augusta. Perfect weather in the 70's with not a cloud in the sky. I won a ticket in the lottery. It's a real disaster when you pay for airfare, car rental and motel and the practice round gets rained out or shortened. I got incredibly lucky. If it's rained out you get a practice ticket for the following year. That would have been little solace when you are out of pocket $1000.

Young looked so good at the Match play and crazy long AND hits it very high (a good thing on these slick, smallish greens)

Connors plays a draw (the favorable ball flight at Augusta) is in form , great driver of the ball -- top 20 might b worth a look. HIs short game is so so

Scottie in great form, hard to see him laying an egg
